Wed night followed my friend to Morena pub, went at around 11pm, its a very happening place, lots of girls inside. It was my first time to Morena pub. As its still within ramadan, so the pub close at 2am instead of 4am.

So this was how I felt when I first entered the pub, upon entering, wow, i was very impressed, the music was loud, theres no live band, basically throughout the whole night, they played shake head type of music, non stop. The lighting was not very dark and the environment not smoky and theres a small dancing space in the centre. Its not a very big disco like pacific. Upon entering, the atmosphere was very lively, the girls were all jiving, dancing, shaking their bodies, it was crowded. As we entered, after a while those ladies inside will start to say hi to us, shake our hands etc....... Basically inside, we just got to order our drinks, sit down, relax and then do whatever we want, theres no cover charge, all the girls who approach you, you may put your hands around their shoulder, feel their bare thighs.

There are many girls inside, most of them are pretty and stylish and of course very friendly. Some of the girls were in their dancing costumes and i saw 2 different types of dancing costumes, most of these girls r pretty too, they take turn to dance at the centre stage. Generally, there are only very few syts here, most of the girls seems to be in their early or mid 20s. If you want anything such as st or LT, u just got to liase with the girls privately. This is not a girl booking joint, so dont expect that the girls u approach will surely agree with your ST or LT proposal.

So with regards to the cost, basically u just pay for your beer and tips to the girls. A jug of beer cost about 250k. Tips to the girls up to you but i give them 50k rupiah.

For those who dont mind throwing away sg50 to sg100 and who love to be surrounded by pretty ladies, hugging them and feeling their thighs, this is a nice place to hang around. Damn!!! since these dancing girls love to crowd around us and since im prepared to throw away some money, so i would just grab n lean at those girls, and feel their thighs, damn steam and of course feel their bodies from outside.

Will i return to morena pub again :- Of course I would. I ask them do they sell shake head medicine here, they told me cost about 500k and i do hv a group of friends who just love these kind of shake head parties, it was very fun when we partied in cambodia with a group of equally havoc girls.

Morena is not those typical dark discos. Its quite bright and you can eaasily walk around and you can even see a 10 cent coin on the floor.

We did went to pacific to have a look too, we use GoJek to travel around, cheap, good and no hassle. Pacific is no more a disco, its now divided into 2 sections, one section hv been turned into something that look more like a dirty bar in joo chiat. So i saw high sofas and you probably need to book girls to rubba rubba.

Another section was converted into jackpot machines that look like amusement machine.

Thanks for fr and good info. I guess it is excellent information for those who want to enjoy Batam night life. Hopefully can see more of such frs rather than those that helps us save a few cents and dollars here and there abit. To go for holiday and whore mongering I think places of fun are more important than saving a few cents and dollars but that my personal views. No offence meant for anyone, enjoy Batam. Cheers

Indo cewek or even batam cewek indeed like their customers to bring them good food from their country.:p

The breakdown cost of my trip is simple.

HB ferry $37 (your orange tix)
Hotel $30
Booking girl $100 + $20 tip
Food/Beverages $15

So it all adds up to ard $202 per 2d1n. I don't even need to pay for taxi & my $15 food/beverage is only when the girls didn't get me dinner, else it'd be way lesser. The fairly good hotel room were usually lesser than $30 most of the time.

Thank you for breaking your cost down,hehehe...one week a trip S$200, then one month S$800 (base on once a week). Not a bad deal...

Rent a monthly room, i need to pay for taxis to get there. Book hotel room no need.

At least you save on hotel room variance charges right? Which i suppose is higher than the transport cost for 2 way Ferry terminal to Hotel.

Not right? :D

I didn't like the idea of fuck & go,else i'll stay in Sg to monger better. I prefer to nurture a simple friendship type of relationship before action starts. I can't go full throttle mode when i fuck without any feelings. So this group of girls in those shops are very good in their own ways.

Which is why most who shared FRs adds a GFE factor, and even have PSE and an old uncle taught me about OWE when i 1st started Batam,hehehe...and i have been talking about it since day 1.

It really depends on what you are looking for in Batam. Some like clubbing, some didnt. Some like KTVs, while some like to book overnight girls in booking girls and then TCSS inside room to groom a relationship,hehehe...not forgetting there will be some who likes the "mix and match" too. In general, there are many type of supplies to meet different demands in Batam. Just like every human tends to share things differently in their own way.

By now, i should have brought no less than 300 living humans to Batam. And among these around 300, about 50% didnt have a night life in Singapore. They dont drink, dont smoke, and were mostly in the more educated generation,hehehe... i didnt have those exact stats today, but many i knew like yourself got stuck there in Batam already. And they can now be on their own (meaning they already can visit Batam on their own w/o a buddy).

I'm forking out ard $200 per trip, some trips only abt $170 if i ask them come to my room after 11pm if i were to take the last second ferry there. ;)

I just did a more thorough count with a calculator, avg out the cost is abt $185 a trip to btm & what i get is what u see.

Then on average should cost your about S$740 then. Good for you on the long run. Can pay S$0.50, why the need to pay S$1 for the same apple? Hehehe...those paying S$1 for a S$0.50 apple were usually the same people who claim that Batam is more expensive. :D

I think there are plenty of such shops around in btm, but just need time to go seek out (& i see not many in this thread did). Why i say that because the many girls from those other Indonesia big cities just keep flooding into btm.

Like i said earlier, supplies must also meet the right person who demands it. If i am a night life person or a KTV person, i found one of those places you frequent in Batam, i might not even bother to share it here since its really unimportant to me.

Which is why i said in the past, i am looking for friends in Batam who shared the similar favor of cake. And i already found many in the years i was there. ;)

If u are looking for less police raids & consistent service lvl with young girls, those were the shops i'd recommend to my friends visiting btm.

Hehehe...so many good girls in Batam, but i only have one little bro,hehehe... so must really take good of it. :D

Play safe, always wear a "helmet"...hehehe...

Pokeman is on screen in Batam few days ago,hehehe...tho not something i have been looking forward to watch, but well...after Avenger Endgame, there is really not much of a choice this week on.

POKEMON: DETECTIVE PIKACHU

The trailer :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bILE5BEyhdo

Guess i will be bias this time, and not write about its storyline. Movies i am looking forward to watch were Aladdin (https://sbf.net.nz/showthread.php?p=18637029&highlight=aladdin#post18637029) and maybe...hehehe...Godzilla King of the Monsters (dont think it will be too good tho). That, tentatively should be towards end of May 2019.

Now, there's just more theaters to choose to watch movies in Batam, with better seating than the my usual sweetbox. ;)

Hi, iicycold, thanks for the ups and the compliments. In my field reports, i try to be as neutral, as informative and as accurate as possible.

Last wed i went to batam with another friend and so at around 11pm, after we finish makan at A2 foodcourt, he brought me to see Morena, he is a regular here whilst it was my first time here. From outside, it is nothing, but when i open the door and enter Morena, wow!!! it brightens my mood because it is a happening place. This place is more like a mixture of a nightclub, lap sap bar and a lounge and the girls inside are more like our singapore sarong party girls, but more hiow and havoc.

When inside, i let my friend take the lead, he place the orders, give tips etc. At the end of the day, the total bill was close to 800k ruppiah and so i paid him 400k and im quite happy with this bill. End of this month, we are going again.

After enquiring my friend, he told me the uniformed ladies are dancers, under a middle age man who looks abit like ah gua and hes the guy who manned the Dj counter, the rest could be either freelancers or hostesses (must pay booking fee if u want her to sit with you, i think so only.)

When i told my friend that afterall it is not very expensive, he told me that thats because he is a regular here and so the dancers wont dare to knock him off and he told me that if its a newbie, the ladies inside will try to slaughter them with ladies drinks which cost about 200k.

So if any newbie who want to go morena and dont mind spending sg40 to sg80, but do not wish to be slaughtered, this is what you can do :--

1) go into the pub, find a place to sit or stand near a table then,
2) ask for the price before u order your jug of beers, guiness stout etc etc....
3) Dont order ladies drink as i was told it cost about 200k. Just say no if they ask.
4) Limit the number of girls around yr table by not talking or smiling to those u dont like.

At the end of the day, your expenses should be beer, tips to the dancers (50k to 100k your wish) and or booking fees to the hostesses. My friend also tip d guards inside (30k), they are in civilian clothings.

Dont worry, feel their thighs and see how far you can go, be happy. The best is still the CRAZY HOUSE in soi cowboy bangkok where all the more then 100 girls were completely 100% naked and i was crazy enough to make them sit on my lap, kiss and grope and dig their cheebye until her cheebye wet, all these for just sg20.(about 1.5yrs ago)

MIFI is a mobile wifi router. Small like 10 cm, you take it with you, and you have your wifi hotspot walking with you anywhere you go. You put a SIM card with data plan inside it (e..g., Simpati 4G), and it connects to one of the local 4G operators. That is the link to the Internet. It broadcasts wifi signal, and then up to 10 (or more) devices can connect to it, and through to the Internet.

If I well understand, that is NOT what you need now. You want fixed Internet access at home. Ok, a MIFI router can be ok too, but it's like buying a deluxe riding bicycle, when you just wish an exercise bicycle to move your feet on pedals to lose weight at home.

If you need Internet access at home, why not walkin in a phone operator office and ask what they propose you for your home?
Maybe Telkomsel offers a plan with SIM card(s) AND fixed access at home.

All this, without that I know if in Batam having cables (fibers or copper) reaching home is easy, common, convenient. If you have phone cables reaching your home or your building, then it should be convenient to have Internet access through it. If not, it's more a problem. Then, it's probably a good workaround to buy a MIFI router. But how is the quality of signal there?

This solution could be more expensive than having fixed Internet access at home via cables. Consider that a 4G mobile router years ago was 100 USD. Now probably much cheaper. ZTE, Huawei, etc. are good suppliers.
Then the cost of data. If you want Internet at home to watch TV, ouch!
Lots of Gigabytes go away.

So, i suppose you already got your cable TV, hence i shant post much about it. I have seen Harbour Boutique hotel using one of such which i find pretty cool, in fact i find it is the coolest one among all batam hotels i have stayed in before,hehehe...

Need to fix up my home data needs.
Remember nono n Blackpage hv some write up on MiFi
I tried but can't do searching on my btm phone....

The 2017 post on andromax is dead (its photos) and outdated. So here's the 2018 one where i buy my 2nd andromax.

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=16937227&postcount=9663

Not much of an information on the link, hence i am adding more below for your reference ,as i have already bought my 3rd and 4th usb wifi router in Batam.

At this point, you might wish to ask, why buy so many?

1. I buy to test, remember i cut up one piece (the white one,hehehe..) just for jailbreaking reason/s.

2. Each USB wifi router normally last about a year (for me) which i learned later due to its battery being bloated due to over charging. It still works but well, i couldnt cover up the device properly and completely anymore. A new non-original battery cost around 250k rupiah, but that device cost me 350k rupiah, so i might as well buy a new one.

3. Trying out other brands of device out of curiosity (the Airtel device can be use in Singapore and most other parts of the world).

4. Trying out other brands of sim cards (Telkomsel Sim card dont work inside an Andromax device, for your info).

Can kindly point me to yours write up or if there is any new product or service update could pls let me know.
Thks

I have altogether bought 3 Andromax (comes with smartfren sim card) and 1 Airtel (from Telkomsel with sim). My 1st and 2nd AndroMax (which you read om the above link) were the same model, all of which were bought in Batam (in fact, all my USB router aka Mifi device i am using in Batam were bought in Batam)

If you plan is to use it in Batam or Indonesia only, i would recommend Andromax,hehehe...reason as in, its cheaper. My 1st and 2nd Andromax were the same model ,its old. The cost is 350k inclusive of sim card. You can try your luck find it in either DC Mall (ask around the shops there) or Nagoya Hill Mall computer shops which is almost beside Century Pharmacy that is opposite Sakura Massage/Hotel.

232972

On the photo above, the 2 Andromax in RED box were my 1st 2 andromax model. Few months ago, i bought a new one which is in purple box. Its a more advance model with LCD screen, but the price is around 550k rupiah (if i did not remember wrong, i paid 500k rupiah for one).

Note here that i am still talking solely on Andromax now, my 3rd USB wifi router were actually from Airtel and using Telkomsel, 4th one is the new Andromax on purple box on photo above.

Below is the price plan for Andromax :

232973

...and in the event you ran out of data due to miscalculation :

232974

Over the years i have been using Andromax, i rarely goes beyond 100k rupiah but max is pegged at 150k rupiah at best. The data is accumulative, meaning if you dont finish it this month, it will be brought over to the next month.

Note here again that what is stated on the above table do not include other promo from the sim card itself. When i buy a brand Andromax that time, there was yet another promo that when i add 60k rupiah top up, i get extra 10 GB data or something more. So there might be slight changes to such promo, so better to check with the retailer before committing to the purchase.

It should go something like that :

232986

Below is roughly whats inside the box of the usb wifi router aka mifi. Well, thats the same as what i have in my Andromax box too.

232991

Ok, this is so much for Andromax, or the least, the basics were here.

Recently there was another one which i planned to try out at a later time and that one is from Indosat which selling from entrance of Arrival Hall.

Out from Arrival hall after your luggage is being scanned ,on the right-hand side of UPON stepping out (as what i have told bro Blackpage) of that HALL, there is a shop selling the same device which is not Andromax brand at 500k rupiah. The Sim card is from Indosat M3 and the USB wifi device (aka mifi) that comes with it , as according to the male shopkeeper can be use in Singapore too. And i just assume it can be use with other Indonesia sim card since Singapore sim card can be used.

I wish to try later on to see if it can work for Telkomsel sim card (since shopkeeper says it should work in Singapore), but until then i have no other information as yet.

I already have Airtel for Telkomsel but Airtel is expensive, costing 800k rupiah with a Indo sim card. Singapore selling it at about S$58 w/o a sim. If the Indosat M3 one at Arrival Hall works, then i would use that as my spare. The Airtel one, i use it in Singapore instead of Indonesia but i could still just buy an Indo Sim card and insert it in to use it in the event Andromax is out.

I just found a price list comparison :

http://liveolive.com/system/attachments/documents/000/000/018/original/paket_internet_mobile-_ENG.pdf?1454323421

For my own collective info.

Just sharing and hope it helps.

My wifi router is ZTE, 4G, and I have been using in all countries of the world where I have been without a single problem. It's about 3 years old, and its battery is still working as new, able to keep my surfing and being online outdoor for one full day (even playing Pokemon Go for few hours while I walk around).
Avoid overcharging, but probably Andromax has a low-quality circuit that controls charging. You should have no problems in leaving the device under charging for the whole night, every day you want to use it, as the circuit disconnects charging once the battery is charged.

My advice is:
1) Forget Andromax, too much hassle with SIM cards of other operators, probably a low quality or low capacity battery, locked to a single operator.
2) Buy a wifi router of a high-quality producer (ZTE, Huawei, ...) even if it costs more. Buy a 4G, do not opt for a 3G to spend less, and be sure it is unlocked and it works with SIM cards of ANY operator in ANY country.
3) Choose the SIM card from the operator that gives you the best performance, even if it costs a couple of dollars more

Of course, my remarks in my previous posts still hold. I would not buy a wifi mobile router for having Internet access at home.

Thank you for breaking your cost down,hehehe...one week a trip S$200, then one month S$800 (base on once a week). Not a bad deal...

Lol, i was trying to compare yr cost of fun in btm as to mine. It depends on wat kind of fun i am looking for, my cost can spike if i'm looking at somthing more exotic in btm. :D

When i get those girls, massage service is auto covered as part of the deal :p ,therefore i don't need to visit mp again on that day. I then saved that part out. It's been a few months already. ;)

At least you save on hotel room variance charges right? Which i suppose is higher than the transport cost for 2 way Ferry terminal to Hotel.

I don't like the idea of getting nailed in one place all the time. Convenience is another thing, who'll make my bed for me & top up my toiletries? Clean the room & all that?

I'm still not comfortable with the girls or any other stranger that walks in & out of my rented room freely. Especially so if i am not in.

Which is why most who shared FRs adds a GFE factor, and even have PSE and an old uncle taught me about OWE when i 1st started Batam,hehehe...and i have been talking about it since day 1.

Btw, where's old uncle? I didn't see him for a while.

Hope he's still well & going strong.

Can't agree more.

Next time you in btm, i'll just follow u through. I think everytime u announce u going btm publicly, u sure to be very busy on those days u are there. :D

Many may have come, but not many shares the same perception like us do. Not every scene is suitable to fit everyone. There are just too many kind of varieties just for 1 or 2 trips of 3d2n to finish in btm. If i didn't follow u & ice around long enough, i probably wouldn't have found my fun either.

Then on average should cost your about S$740 then. Good for you on the long run. Can pay S$0.50, why the need to pay S$1 for the same apple? Hehehe...those paying S$1 for a S$0.50 apple were usually the same people who claim that Batam is more expensive.

$170 is just basic fun in btm for me. Can still be lowered from hotel rm but wat's the point in that? It'll just reduce my fun factor there.

Weekly per 2D1N a month is $680. I think it's good enough.

The girls keep telling me to stay in those 200k rm a nite hotel, citing the receptionists were their friends from the same village. I'm still thinking, you know wat i mean here rite? It'll be the receptionists i'll be looking at & not the pricing of the hotel rm. :D

I can't go ask the girls if the receptionists is pretty, they'll be jealous. Need to play tactical on this one.

Like i said earlier, supplies must also meet the right person who demands it. If i am a night life person or a KTV person, i found one of those places you frequent in Batam, i might not even bother to share it here since its really unimportant to me.

Quite true. It's just like i'm sharing fun here with no location. So far i've brought a handful of colleagues here to btm & some of them already love it down the core, while some hates it, one even vow never to return :o.

My conclusion is that, there isn't a one size fits all guiding to all. U might equip them with the basics, the rest is up to them to find what fit them best. Like u often said, the most suitable is often the best.

Which is why i said in the past, i am looking for friends in Batam who shared the similar favor of cake. And i already found many in the years i was there.

Most time, i'm on solo mode. May occasionally meet up for coffee with likeminded bros & friends who were already regularly there just to exchange info or compare notes. Like u said here before, each of us only have one dick, & by sharing, we can put our one & only into the best rightful place.

Hehehe...looks like people online are dying to clear their over-stocked 2-way orange Horizon ferry ticket that are expiring on 31st May 2019,hehehe...and at S$30 (i believe that guy/lady is selling it at a below cost price,hehehe...).

233473

Interest party can simply go to one of the Singapore's online market place to search under Horizon Ferry ticket (google it). And by the way, its open ticket. But the setback is , its expiring on 31st May 2019. I dont need it cos i already bought quite a lot of those orange tickets in Batam already ,but at around S$37 hence dont wish to over commit myself. Its a good deal...but only for frequent Batam travelers who can travel to Batam before expiring date of ticket/s.

Once a while, online will have such good deal, just not so often.

Enjoy your Batam trips. ;)

If u are so much into Red Crabs, they have more than one restaurant in Batam. If u don't mind traveling out of the way from nagoya, there's another branch nearby Orchid park btm center. I'm sure u can find them from googling.

I was told they made better crabs than their other branch in Nagoya Hill. Their chief chef is located there too. ;)

Locate Utama hotel from google, go btm ,take a taxi there & when u are there, spend 20min to walk/run the Utama hotel block ONE round, there's at least dozen shops there. Blindfold yrself & try any one, 90% shops there do special. Entrance for first hour massage usually won't cost more than $10.

If u read nono's guide in page one & stay in formosa, then u do not even need to walk out of hotel at all. Pick up yr hotel phone & dial for one or just take the lift upstairs fourth floor. It's ramadan fasting mth, don't too much.

Use Google map, search for DC mall or Diamond city mall. Once you locate DC mall, search again for massage around DC mall map area. The row of massage shops at roads just South of DC mall are the lap sup massage places. Entrance fee 80k, nego for FJ 300k to 400k, BJ 200k. If unhappy and do nothing with gals I.e. just massage, can just tip 50k. To be sure, just ask the receptionist if can recommend any gals for good services beyond just massage. Lap sup massages will give recommendation. Non lap sup massage will say no.

Very good observation!

Going batam tomorrow, & will be staying until Tue, as Mon will have a very big crowd heading back SG altogether.

Those heading back on Mon, will need to get their return boarding pass in advance upon arriving to batam in case the ferry ran out of seats. Many will need to return on Mon.

Returning on Tue is safer for me. I don't wish to end up with no ferry taking me back to SG on Mon & i'm lazy to walk to ferry counter to get boarding upon arrival.

FYI July Horizon tickets was out last week.
Look like every beginning of month...
They replenish their stocks...
and Horizon only issue out with maximum 2 months expiry.

If that were the case, i will be looking forward to the Aug expiry orange ticket next,hehehe...of course, that after stocking the July one 1st.

in fact many post here with clones tokking bs stories...:)

Everyone has a different perspective, and here's mine :

Post that are not inline with topic title = TCSS

Post that are quoted whole and make only 1 or 2 sentences = Spam

Post that are within topic but making 1 line reply per post = Thread Bumper aka bandwidth waster
(not exactly a bad thing for a TS,hehehe..who constantly restrict himself to bump a thread with non-informative/off-topic post)

Clone/s or not, the experienced internet user can surely tell. Then again, no internet communities on earth can stop clones. Solution is, to co-exist.

So long they dont cross "that" line, which is why Moderator/Administrator exist.

Hmm...new movie Brightburn in Batam theaters. A horror movie from DC comics, and this time not a super hero movie but more of a super villain movie,hehehe...quite a change.

BRIGHTBURN

233913

The storyline :

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

The trailer (with Indo Bahasa subtitle)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_Hr9t1ikbE

Ok, this movie is pretty simple. Its a super villain movie, its a horror movie, its a superman look-alike movie, thats in...someone not-from earth drop onto earth and grew up there but their brought up were relatively different. Just that superman is the good guy and this guy in the Brightburn movie is bad...or actually pretty much horrific. I will just take it as the evil version of superman with a really twisted mind (both superman and brightburn were from DC).

233918

Ever watch Art of the Devil horror movie from Thailand before? Ok, there is some parts of the movie that were quite similar to the Art of the Devil movie,hehehe...its a good movie to watch with a shy girl in Batam, especially on the new theater with a bed. :D

In my field reports, i try to be as neutral, as informative and as accurate as possible.

Thank you for sharing, this is exactly why i agreed to start this thread in the 1st place. To gather people (hopefully like-minded bros, tho not compulsory), to share both good and bad, as accurate as possible. And i collect those shared info for my future use.

Just like the below :

Notice yourself, you shared both the goodies and badies in your trip, hence giving readers a better understanding of whats coming if they were to visit that exact same place/scene you are visiting.

I dont believe in all good and no bad nor all bad and no good in any mongering places or FR,hehehe...and of course, the most suitable for oneself is often the best. :p

Sharing constructively is important.

I was in this forum since delphiforums. Those days, local malay freelancers cost only $130, angmo freelancer $150 and local chinese $180 to $200.

In those days, most field reports are genuine and very informative. Your field reports are also very informative and neutral, very good.

When i get those girls, massage service is auto covered as part of the deal :p ,therefore i don't need to visit mp again on that day. I then saved that part out. It's been a few months already.

Sounds good, next time i follow you,and you bring me around Batam,hehehe..

I don't like the idea of getting nailed in one place all the time. Convenience is another thing, who'll make my bed for me & top up my toiletries? Clean the room & all that?

Hmm...thats quite true, who will make up my bed for me?

I think i will need to look for housekeeping service source in Batam next,hehehe...thanks for reminding me. :p

Btw, where's old uncle? I didn't see him for a while.

I think he's still living in Formosa, why not you PM him, if he's online he's likely to reply you.

But wont be immediate.

Next time you in btm, i'll just follow u through. I think everytime u announce u going btm publicly, u sure to be very busy on those days u are there.

Hehehe...dont follow me around, you will bore yourself to death. I found something good, i tell you. If you found something good, just share it with me, and thats enough.

I dont announce my trip in public anymore. But many good bros here still sms me on my indo number or PM me occasionally to check if i happen to be in Batam tho. Just that if i am there, i cannot tell them i am not and if i am not there, i feel a bit bad NOT BEING there. :(

Anyway, i leave all these to fate. If its fated ,even walking on the street or a mall also can see each other,hehehe...just like recently, i bump onto a bro in a Mall w/o 1st making any appointment with him. I also saw my ex colleagues during CNY 2019 in a shopping mall whom i have not met for a long time too.

Batam not a very big place,hehehe...especially those areas frequent by Singaporean.

Now, this is interesting...and am looking forward to more info on THAT HOTEL,hehehe.... :D

I am sure those guys will be bugging you soon.

Your colleague/s who didnt like Batam, are they mostly non-singaporean? :o

Ya thanks.
Sharing constructively is important.

I was in this forum since delphiforums. Those days, local malay freelancers cost only $130, angmo freelancer $150 and local chinese $180 to $200.

Agreed with you that sharing constructive is important.

I wasnt around during those time when Delphi forum is still around. Delphi forum is some where like 20 years ago,hehehe...reading your post above, i imagined those years of cost-to-bonk a Malay girl is about the price for the cost of overnight SSYT girls in Batam today. :D

Some time, its good to read back the past and then make a comparison with today,be it service level, price level, exchange rates, the complain and compliment of the girls/places etc. The good, the bad, and things to watch out for. Those were precious experience from all different perspectives from people in different walks of life.

I was in those era whereby Singapore massage shops with PRC girls scattered all over HDB flat void deck shops and per hour massage was then S$20 - S$30, KTVs with PRC/Malaysian hostesses butterflying around were at S$188 per bottle of liquor (comes with free room). Those days, i havent visited Batam, tho i heard (and read) many good FRs, stories and life accounts.

There was no need to visit Batam,hehehe...or the least i thought so back then.

In those days, most field reports are genuine and very informative. Your field reports are also very informative and neutral, very good.

I have read no less than a 100 posts on your Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao's FRs and posted information too. How you pay in those casinos and later turn them into free hotel room stay, free lunches, free meals etc. How you were able to dug up "gold" in places many reading thinks were just a place of rumbles (quite similar to Batam's case today).

You deserve to find heaven, and thumbs up for your sharing.

Went to Batam last month. My ferry gor delayed by an hour and hence immigration queue was longer than usual. Given this was my first time there and I did not know about the grab / gojek driver issue, took 30 minutes to finally board a cab to hotel, which meant i reached hotel only in the evening instead of afternoon. While checking in, saw a very voluptuous javanese lady who spoke to the receptionist in bahasa which I don't understand, but could make out that she was "guest" for someone in the hotel. Nice figure, lovely face and smile. I would have ideally got her number but was shy in front of reception and also because I was leaving next morning and she was booked today. So left it. Now I wish I had her number for the next time.

Went to the room and rested for an hour. Then went out to explore the area (nagoya hill mall). Had some good and then went for a massage at thai odyssey hoping to get some extra but it is a pure massage place. The room I went to did not even have door but just curtains and no shower.

Disappointed, took out phone to check wechat and could make out all girls were actually OKTs. Didn't want to take any chances so went back to hotel and took a shower. Already 9 so losing hope.

Went out to back of hotel to explore area around Formosa, but didn't want a massage. Later went to no name hoping to catch some chicks. The DJ actually was beautiful and would have picked her up but found she was with he bf.

6 pegs of whiskey and don't remember how much money down, came out of the club and decided to go to hotel given I was already typsy and this was an unknown island to me. Some girls sitting outside the bar opposite the club called me in. One of the girls Held my hand and took me inside. My eyes were although stuck on a girl with thick lips outside, so I asked this girl to bring in her friend. Very excited at the proposition, she called her in and I was sandwiched between two hot ladies on a sofa. Felt like the mafia lol....

The ladies wanted me to buy their drinks, and after carefully looking at the menu I ordered some beer for us 3. This was followed by some smooching and grinding my cock by some lovely ass wearing very thin shorts. I could literally dig my fingers in their pussies. Well, they wanted another drink but whiskey. Call it my blue balls or typsiness I ended up ordering 2 more rounds. They wanted food but I strictly refused. I was actually saying no at least once before every round which seemed to increase their efforts in seducing me, including ducking my cock over my pants. This was very exciting given it was happening at a dark corner of a public bar. Howeber when I asked my lady to join me at my hotel, she said she was working.... well the dream broke, and I came out of the bar, much lighter on my pocket and much heavy on my blue balls.

Part 2:

As I started walking out of the bar still thinking of the lovely javanese woman with thick lovely lips, one old man came from behind and asked me if he can drop me to hotel. Tired and not willing to walk, settled for 20k to my hotel. While on road, he asked if I wanted girl, I said only of good, he took me to a shop which looked closed from outside. Once the door opened, there were 3 girls, one if which was a really hot chick who looked like some vietnamese actress i had seen in one of the ads I remember from my stay in Ho Chi Minh last year. I asked the papasan if she was available for LT, but the girl refused and said only ST. this was demotivating and hence I took the girl which wasn't as pretty but seemed most eager. Booked her till morning 9 am for 800k (it was almost 2 am if I remember correctly). Paid up and asked the papasan to send girl to hotel. The girl sgat on another bike and arrived with me at hotel. Chemistry was visible with this girl and I was taken aback by this girls nice rack when she came out of shower. Glad I didn't opt for the other pretty girl.

What followed was a nice cbj and rimming which almost made me cum, but I saved liquid for a nice doggy style where I could see my rod doing deep inside her love hole. After round 1 she said she would need to go meet her friend at 4:30 or so as she gets off work, to celebrate her birthday and she can come back by 5:30 am. I knew chances are that she would run away, but I agreed. We slept of maybe 30 minutes with my dick against her but crack, and soon I was awaken by my hard rod. Started rubbing it over her crack as she woke up and stroke my cock from behind. Another round of cbj and wot followed. Then came doggy where I slapped the hell out of her meaty ass as she moaned and I could see she came..... then pumped in missionary and came over her body. She then went for a wash and said she needs to go for an hour and come back, and that she needs taxi money. I paid her 50k and said will give her more once she returns (alcohol wearing off and hence back to senses) . She kissed my cheeck and left. I locked room from inside and was half dead from the long day. Slept till 10 am and yes she wasn't back. Glad I didn't pay more car money, but still remembering her nice ass, had a shower, breakfast and booked cab to ferry terminal. Maybe closed to 250 sgd gone but still VFM compared to 40 minute fk at GL for 150. :)

if you intend to stay at Harris, the hotel taxi can be arranged for 6pax at $160k . same price if less pax. contact the hotel's reservations team. Otherwise Taxi from terminal is 150k.

Harris Barelang can also transport you to the seafood restro nearby via buggy for free, can be arranged at hotel's lobby.

Tickets to Batam Centre are sold for $38 on Qoo10 via a seller called ferryonline which I've used several times and would probably be the cheapest for batam fast. HB bay should get open tickets from carousell. Else flat rate 48nett

As for ordering food, i still use Go Food,hehehe...but pick up of the food can only be done via walking to car park security check area. Which means Go Food sender dont send the food to your room or lobby but instead you have to walk out to collect it. Seems like handful of hotels nowaday applied such rules.

I got to know that during my last trip whereby i ask another guest of the hotel how come they went out of lobby to pick up their food and hence their reply to me was they were used to the hotel's restriction on Go Food orders,hehehe...

S$30 for orange Horizon ferry ticket, but the seller only clearing 31st May 2019 ticket stock and it is not me who sell them (nor anyone i knew in person). I believe its the cheapest in town and can get it directly in Singapore, no need go until Batam. But be warn, DO NOT keep stock unless you can use your ticket before it expires.

I didnt mention which Singapore online market place due to the advertising regulation of the forum. But i guess you probably knew.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

PS : One thing i learned so far, there are constantly good deal during some period of the whole year, just like i have ever bought a few one way horizon ferry ticket at S$10 each (inclusive tax and everything). Then again, those were over (becos i bought everything,hehehe..).

Yes, shuttle were usually free but not applicable to all ferry terminals (if i dont remember wrong, mainly only Harbour Bay, Batam Center and Sekupang).

For my case, if i visit resort hotel, the stay were usually at least 3D2N. I called them direct, since i use Telkomsel Talkmania package (for Telkomsel sim card). They gave those who sign up the package 100 mins of 2-way Singapore,Malaysia and Australia talktime for 50k rupiah. ;)

Emailing them is FREE tho. :D

Some might prefer to eat in Windsor food court ,some at Wey Wey sea food restaurant , some at Kelong-style sea food restaurant etc. Most dont go out of the way to those place to eat mainly becos the food serve was out-of-the-world kind of good but more of "better-food" plus suitable ambiance. :p

Hmm...been going around the respective Batam condominium office to ask around during my last trip. Looks quite a handful of developer has increase their initial selling price once after construction works progress.

Baloi Apartment used to be 248 juta...

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/05/22/47690240_108383010136432_5705060579000476907_n.jpg

...and their new brochure now shows 258 juta.

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/05/22/20ff7d75389482.jpg

Citra Plaza (opposite Formosa) used to starts off at 409 juta during their launch for Tower 1 but its recent Feb 2019 launch for Tower 2 starts off at 460 juta,hehehe...and their main office no longer sells apartment in Tower 1. If anyone notice the my previous post :

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18682392&postcount=13741

...they might probably saw one of the brochure saying Tower 1 is 95% sold out,hehehe...

Looking through quite a handful of Condominium office in Batam (and trying to communicate with them), i learned that Pollux Habibie apartment sale representative were the MOST aggressive. Perhaps due to one of the 4 new tower were about to launch during my last trip,hehehe...they sure build fast.

Citra Plaza's developer the Cipta Group has a new project near Batam Center too. And the price was rather...attractive.

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/05/24/Apartment-Cipta-Sky-park-Batam-Batam-Indonesia1.jpg

...and another thing i learned in this trip of my Apartment sourcing is, there really is no such thing as a interest free installment in Batam.

The longer the installment, the higher the primary amount would be. It may sound like a common sense thingy, but well...a handful of these developer's uses 0% interest installment to entice customers into buying. I only found that out after comparing their price chart after reaching my hotel room.

There was one condominium launch that i was trying to look for but i couldnt find their sales booth or office in the shopping mall that i was at tho.

234510

They were suppose to build "something" somewhere near to Nagoya Mansion and i am guessing they were now doing their ground work as of now. Price according to Rumah were around 370 juta to 380 juta. But one has to consider that this Thamrin condo will unlikely have swimming pool or gyms.

Location wise should be pretty cool since they are almost beside Nagoya Mansion,hehehe...and that price is quite affordable.

Harbour Bay Residence is another one which i am looking at too.

234512

It is so far one of the very few condominium that has already finished building. The price isnt cheap as the size of their studio werent small (around 36 square meter) costing about 750 juta to 850 juta. The developer were still struggling to try to sell it (price didnt drop tho).

Notice some developers were able to completely sold out their units in one block even before it was built while others were still struggling to sell it even after they have already complete building after nearly half a year?

I am still thinking...Batam has about 1.5 million population today, will there be too many empty apartments down the road over the next 3 years when most apartment block finished building? I am sure given around 5 years later, i highly doubt the population would shoot up to 2 million or more. So for now, i would be thinking of just one unit. My target is 3 to 4 units tho. Hmmm... :(

Just compiling my findings so far.

It is so far one of the very few condominium that has already finished building. The price isnt cheap as the size of their studio werent small (around 36 square meter) costing about 750 juta to 850 juta. The developer were still struggling to try to sell it (price didnt drop tho).

Just compiling my findings so far.

oh yes bro, i got information for you.

My compiled info on properties and apartment units i might wish to buy in Batam in the near future..and my road so far...

1. On Citra Plaza and Harbour Bay Residences :

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=17898339&postcount=11940

I cant afford Formosa residence,so i look at Citra plaza which is about 100 plus meter away,hehehe...

2. One of my ideal apartment to buy,hehehe...thats Bayerina at Harbour Bay Ferry terminal (https://www.realreviews.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169380). Minimum gonna cost me around S$45k for a decent unit,hehehe...what i like about it is, all their units comes with a balcony.

Actually Formosa Residence is the most ideal but i cannot afford 2 units of it w/o a loan, hence i drop the idea (that one cost almost S$100k per studio unit, excluding hidden cost).

3. An article on why MOST foreigner still seems uninterested in Indonesia properties even after the law in Indonesia change to allow foreigners to own them.

https://sbf.net.nz/showthread.php?p=18502224&highlight=property+apartment#post18502224

4. Some collective info on Cipta Sky Park at Batam center area and Baloi Apartment around BCS area.

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18478563&postcount=13188

5. I have something that covers Batam's apartment rental, the strata title, its fee and the hidden cost thats ON TOP of the stated selling price...

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18509060&postcount=13259

6. And some read up on property scams in Batam,hehehe...

https://sbf.net.nz/showthread.php?p=18509067#post18509067

7. This one below were some extras, more like some brief information regarding buying properties and comparing it around the region. As well as understanding the Singapore side of the law for Singaporean intending to buy oversea properties.

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18509062&postcount=13260

8. And some resale apartment which i am keeping tab on :

a) Queen Victoria Imperium (https://www.realreviews.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169380) near to Batam Center. Which is has 3 bed room, going 580 juta at 58 square meter that is ready to move in.I have pass by this place many times,hehehe...its located at a 鸟不生蛋 place. Meaning its really out of the way for many things within a its perimeter of 1km,hehehe... of course, i only look at the location briefly.

b) I am looking at Aston Hotel and Apartment about 500 meter from BCS mall too. Its the 2nd most expensive apartment unit i saw comparing it with Formosa Residence (in terms of studio unit's per square meter).

c) Harbour Bay Residence, which is at Harbour Bay ferry terminal. Pricing wise is comparable with Aston, which is 2nd most priciest.

9. Batam property outlook?

13. My further understanding after stepping into their office to talk to them on May 2019.

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18731670&postcount=13823

Notice that from all the posts i have made, my eyes were mostly set on the Nagoya/Penuin/Baloi area of apartments rather than Batam Center area (15 to 20 mins drive apart),hehehe...a few friends asked me who so?

I ask them back, would you wish to live near a place where there will be constant protest and a possibly riot in the near future? Or perhaps even a possibility of a terrorist attack? At the least, i have heard of no less than 5 protesting demonstration at Batam center over my 5 years in Batam and a rumored of a possible upcoming terrorist attack on tourism (i am sure senior bros following this thread would remember that one,hehehe..).

A bit of a sidenote here, Riots, Protest,Political instability were mostly predictable, example most riots/protest usually happens during Ramadan, Election period, Labour Day, National day etc. If commoners like me can see that, i am sure terrorist would be able to do so, same goes for the relevant Indonesian authorities too.

All in all, if i could afford NOT to stay near Batam Center area, i would try not to (note, i am not saying i wont buy any units there in the near future, what i am saying is i am just unlikely to physically STAY around the area). The only advantage i see in Batam center other than the lower pricing on apartment/s were the Singapore Consulate being situated there,hehehe... i almost forgot, there seems to be many more developers building Condo apartments there at Batam center area than in Nagoya area, and likelihood of a much bigger clusters of apartment blocks would be there in that area. :D

One more thing, standing as a single one-person tourist perspective, the people i feared most in Batam were their authorities, eg Police ,immigration officers, army officials or the likes.

What i share were base on my experience/findings, my perspective...my point of view. I do not represent any organisation, any public bodies, companies or any group/s which includes my very own few group of friends whenever i share.

Enjoy reading, thats for those who are interested.

Next upcoming, as mentioned above and looking from one single tourist perspective, i will be looking into insurance that covers me as a tourist in Batam,hehehe...yes, it has to be on a long term, likelihood to look into those 1 year or longer insurance.

I believe most would not buy travel insurance when they are travelling to Batam for a short stay but what if, its staying in Batam for 29 days a month? I will also looking at travelling SLOWLY (not on a plane) to other parts of indonesia on a much later time too.

Most of the "people nearby "girls photos u see in wechat are fake, behind these beautiful girls r the okts. There r also fake mummies, they r actually male okt. Everything they will say yes and ok and then they will bring different girls to u. These okts will also wechat u a long list of photos for u to choose, all beautiful girls but they will sent u different girls.

Howevert I ever video call with one of the cewek and she is real, however not interested to call for ST because her actual look from the video call differs from her photo quite substantially...which was very much below average.

But I believe what you mentioned above is true as these could be their tactics to market out their girls to tamu

As usual, its calm. few of my friends went to kings massage and all of the gals bring hp to hotel room.

From what the cewek told me that the ban of handphone to tamu room has not been lifted and those are the ones who silently bring hp..

Mereka sebunyi aja, kalo kena tangkap, akan dihukum..jangan main main:D

Now the massage cewek every time has to so call mark attendance (something like punch card ) when they go to tamu room and also when they return back to level 4. King massage management want to monitor the cewek massage time so that they cannot bluff.

Is Batam safe considering the anti-chinese sentiments in Jarkarta??:(

During the 1998 anti-chinese riots, most parts of indonesia were affected especially jakarta/surabaya except bali and riau achipelago including batam, bintan ,etc

Batam economy is way better than other parts of indonesia and offers one of the highest paying salary among other indonesian cities. The people of batam appreciate the spore/msia/indon chinese for bringing economy developement to the city...

My own BIG Plan,hehehe...

1. Making sure my asset's yield in Singapore can cover my expenses in Batam. I have been talking about this since the 1st day i am in Batam (refer to my 1st few summaries), about allowing Batam (not Singapore) to pay for Batam itself (thats like about 5 years ago?). Sustainable cheonging,hehehe...remember?
2. Making sure i have enough saving from Singapore to splurge (minus those Batam property thingy mentioned in the thread),hehehe...
3. Making sure i can be healthy (i will touch on this one on a later time, becos my current low paying job today involve medical healthcare, hehehe
4. Making sure i can reach medical help within an hour (hopefully so, if not 2 hours or any shortest possible time). This is something which i am working on,even tho Batam is just 50 mins away from Singapore,hehehe...but travelling from Batam to Singapore is NOT 24 hours. So i better dont have any emergency from 9pm to 7pm (SG time). And i am quite surprise Batam actually have 8 hospitals.

i am quite clear about what i am looking for. Batam is Batam, Singapore is Singapore. I dont really mix them up (or mash both)...something like 狡兔三窟,hehehe...like i often have plan B or plan C as back up. Again, thats the usual me, myself and i, as you have read (if anyone did,hehehe..).

To live like a Chicken head (in Batam) or to live like a Phoenix's butt (in Singapore)... 鸡头还是凤尾,如果是你,你会如何选择?

My choice is obvious....

Thanks Nono for your sharing...
15 years ago (2004) when I was in my 30s, I was already planning for my future retirement. My major consideration was either Johor Bahru or Batam which was the two closest cities to spore. Finally I have chosen Johor Bahru over Batam as my retirement home. Below are some of the consideration factors in my decision:

Cost of living (JB cheaper)
It is a well known fact that JB has a lower cost of living compare to batam. From the weekend horrible traffic jam at cause way to the super long queue experience at customs on both sides, you could tell how sporean like to travel to JB for shopping. There are many products that were sold in spore was actually made in bolehland. (e.g. medicine, food, appliances, etc) Therefore buying exactly the same products in JB in bulk will certainly save you tonnes of money.

Unlike JB, Batam produced/manufacture less local products however majority are still imported. Due to the fact that it is a small island city and the price are strongly influence by nearby singapore, the cost of goods tend to be slightly more costly than JB in general.

Public Transport (Batam better)
In terms of public transport around the city area, Batam has an upper hand. From angkot (mini van) to taxi to bus to ojek and due to the fact that Batam city (nagoya/jodoh) is small (2km radius) and more concentrated, it is easier to move around the city. You will never be helpless as batam ojek will always be around offering their service to you.

On the other hand, JB city area is very congested and their bus schedule are always not in time. I once waited for a bus for an hour but never turned up. Cabs are sometimes difficult to call as the city area is more dispersed. The bus route mainly serve the two main road (jalan tebrau and jalan skudai) Therefore those inner small roads or housing estate are not served by bus. In conclusion JB public transport is still very lousy given that it is msia second largest city. However with the upcoming Rapid Transit System from Singapore Woodland North Station to JB Bukit chagar which is scheduled to be completed by 2024, there will be an integrated bus services from future JB RTS station at Bukit Chagar to many parts of JB towns.

Private Transport (Batam is affordable but JB is much more cheaper)
For those who prefer to travel by private transport, JB is paradise. Cars are super cheap be it local made or imported, on the average, you buy one car in singapore equals to buying 3 cars price in JB. Furthermore you buy one litre of petrol in spore equal to buying three litres of petrol price in JB. Cars in spore has 10 years life span but cars in bolehland is freehold. Servicing, road tax, insurance, repair, etc of the car are relatively cheaper too. Petrol in msia is the cheapest in Asia due to the fact that Msia is an oil producing country and has surplus for export. 1 litre petrol cost RM2.10 = S$0.70

Whereas for Batam, cars are also cheap e.g toyota Agya cost only sing dollar 13000 because their sale tax and import tax is low. Furthermore the petrol cost about 8500 rp per litre = RM2.70 (slightly higher than JB)

Infrastructure (JB wins hand down)
Over the years, JB has tried to reduce the number of traffic lights by transforming the road into raise level road interchange so that vehicle can continue to travel without having to stop. JB also has a very good infrastructure system linking the city to the surburbs areas via road interchange, flyovers, underground tunnel, road bridge across rivers, highways, expanded trunk roads providing more lanes, etc. Thus, its highway/road system & infrastructure is world class... comparable to singapore standard.

On the other hand, although i have never drive in Batam, from my observation of Batam infrastructure, it is still very far behind compare to JB. Batam roads are bumpy & not well maintained (many potholes), road lanes not many, traffic quite chaotic, no proper pedestrian walkway or overhead bridge, lag of flyover to ease traffic jam. Road signage are also not very prominent.

Medical facilities (JB offers more options)
Due to its greater land size and bigger population, there are much more private and public hospital and clinics in JB and most of them have very good medical facilities. That is the reason why sporean like to travel to JB and melaka private hospital / medical centres to seek for treatment as it can provide the same standard as what spore can offer. Doctors/surgeons in msia private hospital are very experience as they are overseas trained (US/UK). Example : Johor Specialist Hospital in Larkin and Regency Hospital in Masai. JB Govt hospitals medical equipment are also very complete and quite advance, medication are relatively cheaper than lion city by a hugh difference.

For info - msians citizens only need to pay RM 1 to get admitted to hospital, the rest of the medical fee is taken care by their garmen.
Although I have not come across or heard of any popular Batam hospitals but friends of mine told me that Batam medical standard and service still lagging behind those in JB.

For info - In order to be admitted into the hospital in indonesia, the patient has to pay upfront a certain amount of medical fee or deposit first. For those who does not have enough money are not allowed to get admitted and treated because indonesia has too many poor people and afraid that after treatment no money to pay the hospital, then the hospital can close shop already..That comes to the point as to why indonesians are very helpful towards each other... When a poor indonesian need to seek treatment in the hospital, the family/relative/neighbours/friend/friend's friend will try to raise the money for the patient to get admitted into the hospital...very touching

Accessibility from singapore (JB more accessible & can be access 24/7)
To some of us who stay at the south of spore take about 1.5 hours to reach batam and may take about 2 hours to reach JB. But to those who stay at the north or north west spore may take a shorter time to reach JB than Batam.

Therefore in terms of distance to spore, JB and Batam are almost the same, depending on which part of spore you are staying. However, one thing for sure you can travel anytime to JB as there is always transport 24 hours in case of any emergency, but there is limitation if you want to travel to Batam e.g. you cannot go to batam at midnight as the last ferry to Batam is 9.30pm. In addition JB is definitely more easily accessible to singapore.
From Singapore to JB
1) By land (woodland and tuas),
2) By rail (KTM train woodland),
3) By sea (changi ferry),
4) By Rapid Transit System (future thomson line extension from Woodland North Station to Bukit Chagar JB Custom ) Year 2024 in operation
5) By High Speed Rail travelling at 250km/h (future HSR jurong east - JB nusajaya) Expected to operate in Year 2025
From Singapore to Batam
1) By sea only (ferry) pathetic ..miserably inadequate... kesihan lah...

Safety & Security (Batam is a safer place)
I believe many of us have read news about the crime rate in bolehland was terrible especially JB & KL. The robbers in JB are very cruel, will attack the victim before robbing them. That's the reason why many sporean buy property in JB always have gated fencing landed houses or condo guarded and protected by the security guards. (hope the guard dont kena bribe)

On the contrary in Batam, robbery and theft cases are very minimum . Some jobless or poor people roaming round the street in Batam tend to "beg" rather than "snatch" unlike happen in JB. Therefore In terms of safety, I would say that Batam is a much safer place to stay or retire when security is concerned.

Massage options & cost (Batam and JB both offer many options)
JB has many health centre located in a 4 & 5 star hotels e.g. Grandbluewave, Newyork, Paragon, Berjaya waterfront, Paris Spa, etc providing massage and sex service. These are the more upmarket massage places which will cost more than those shophouse massage parlour. The massage alone in a hotel health centre will cost about rm 100 whereas in shophouse massage average about rm 65-70 per hour. JB hotel health centre also offers B2B masage at rm 180 which is maybe more expensive than Batam B2B massage.

Many towns in JB In the past ten over years started opening massage shops mainly operate in a second storey shophouse unit. e.g. taman pelangi, tmn sentosa, bukit indah, tmn university, etc Therefore in any JB township you stay, you will definitely be served by at least one massage parlour...hehe

In JB, traditional malay massage can be found in many shophouses too. These joints have many pretty and young malay girls available and beside providing a relaxing massage with scented massage oil, they also know how to repair your aeroplane head. In bahasa they called it Urut Batin or sometimes called rawatan traditional. This penis therapy can improve your manhood by preventing premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. On the average, the cost of urut batin for 40 mins is rm 90. One of the more popular joints for urut batin is Gold Point massage parlour in permas jaya & tmn sentosa.

Contrastingly, Batam has many massage parlour packed in DC mall area & formosa/nagoya hill unlike in JB which are more dispersed. Massage near Utama area only cost 60k rp = 18 ringgit per hour much cheaper than the average cost of JB massage of rm65-70. Batam shophouse mp beside having normal massage, they also offer four hand massage, lulur body scrub, mandi susu milk bath and other type of treatment.

In conclusion my ideal retirement home is Johor Bahru because to me easy accessibility from singapore is first priority, medical facilities is very important. Cars and petrol are cheaper. Road infrastructure in JB is fantastic. Peninsula Malaysia is hugh unlike Batam and can travel to many parts of the peninsular enjoying sceneries/landscape of highlands, beach resort, waterfall/lakes, etc. Johor Bahru also allow more foreign ownership of landed property. Public hygiene standard wise also much better in JB. (unlike there are some dirty streets filled with rubbish at Batam jodoh area and smelly drain behind formosa hotel)
There are also many upcoming hugh JB shopping malls like mid valley, Toppen Shopping Centre (Tebrau city), Sunway Bigbox near 2nd link, Larkin Junction Mall, Eco Galleria, etc opening in the near future.

However, Batam is not a long term retirement place for me but it will still remain as my favourite cheong place due to the fact that overnight cewek booking is available, more selection of brown sugar cewek ranging from javanese to sundanese to minangkabau to batak, better hospitality provided, great food and many other unforgetable awesome experiences...:)

Beg to differ, to say Batam is a safer place I wouldnt agree. Let me tell you a true experience, I have uncle staying in Batam, he has 4 children, so there are 6 people in the family. Everyone of them, father, mother + children were robbed before. Car were stolen before, few motorbikes were stolen before. When make report to police, still need to five coffee money. You need to see yourself when a certain group (religion based) hold a rally to protest things that are not in hand with them.

And I can bet $1 with you, if you walk alone (in the evening), the chance you are getting rob in Batam is much higher than in Johor..

Brother Retirebatam,

Thanks for your most interesting and detailed insights/analyses about retiring in Batam and JB, very useful for consideration of fellow members who have such inclinations.

I would like to add some of my personal views:-
Batam (Indonesia) , JB (Malaysia) , Bangkok (Thailand), Manila (Philippines), HCM (Vietnam) and other ASEAN countries including China are all nice places too chiong and enjoy.
Retiring in these places is very much a personal consideration based on one's inclination, health and wealth. Batam and JB have advantage of proximity that is very important when you need to be back home for any emergencies. However, you may need to consider properly on the tenure and rentability of any properties you are interested to purchase and other factors such as vagaries of local laws that often discriminate non-citizen, political stability, religious sensitivity, medical facilities, cost of living and social security, among others. You may also need to re-evaluate your links and obligations to our country before leaving with regards to family, relatives, assets before making a jump.

As for myself, I have happily retired here with sufficient fund to move around all the nearby exotic and interesting places for enjoyment and fun. Remember, 'to each his own' and 'one person's meat is another's poison' .
Cheers and enjoy.

Was at the pub The Link last night, still a good place to relax and chill out with buddies. Order a bottle of red wine at the Linker (duty free liqueurs shop) next to the link at about 250k. And have it serve at The Link. The charge at the link comes out to 150k, didn't notice the details.. Maybe the icebucket, serving, or opening. Etc. So total spend is abt 250k+150k.. Have live band performance.. Not bad. Nice.. Hehe.. Requested the song THE Creep..

I agreed that batam is a safer place compare to Johor Baru,
There a period when i need to walk pass Jodoh area evey nite between 12am to 2am and i walk alone, no problem encountered. I hang out every nite when im in batam for past 25 years and never have any issue before. Only one incident when i have got into fight was at the old nagoya foodcourt with a local chinese group, and later met them again in pacific disco extend another round. Heard one of them from that group pass away next day, maybe due to too tired. :D
I always find batam very safe for me.

Hehehe...i guess everyone is truly different then. One of the key reason why i picked Batam instead of Thailand or JB is becos, lesser people choose the option i did. In a way, Batam is way less crowded,hehehe...

About 12 years ago, my no. 1 choice was China. I even bought 2 apartments there but gradually i find it less feasible, hence i sold it. Long story,hehehe...so i arent going to elaborate here. I didnt make a lost when i changed my mind,hehehe..

Thank you for your sharing those pointers which helps makes you decide to pick JB as a retirement ground. I have no doubts you were right in many ways but not all tho (just like i cannot be right in all ways too). Like i said earlier, everyone is truly different. When i decide to pick Batam, i already considered your pointers and adjusted it in my way to best suit me (yes,i change the environment to suit myself). What suits me will always be the best, likewise for yourself too.

(my new clock to bring to Batam soon)
https://moveyourshit.com/images/c80d1ae3b3560f788efaa68fac821444.gif

1. When it comes to cost of living, its really much depending on how much one wish to spend. If i choose to spend less, cost of living can be way lower than in JB but if i choose better living option,it could cost way higher. Try the S$5 living a day challenge and you will have a better understanding when it comes to cost of living. Its more about quality of life versus cost of living and everyone's requirement can be different.

2. As for public transport, in many way, tho this wont be affecting me much when i am in Batam (i will come to why its not going to affect me later as you read the other pointers below) but i still find JB's public transport better, or the least they are more comfortable, efficient and well-organised. When you reach 70s,will you sacrifice a few cents to compromise comfortability on a public transport? i highly doubt so (meaning at that age, you probably dont mind paying a little more for comfort).

234945

3. I have no plans to drive in Batam. Not today (my summaries said so), neither in the near future nor during retirement too. But i cannot dont drive in JB once i retire due to the point to point distance. In Batam, my ideal place of my staying condominiums were almost like my staying place in Singapore, neigbourhood can fulfill almost all my daily necessities. All things (other than medical facilities) were within reach within 20 mins of walking distance (yes, i use the word "All" here, which is a strong word,hehehe..).

Alternatively, for short distance...or within condo's 500m radius (in Batam),can use foldable e-scooter to move around w/o worries of getting into the nerve of the police in Batam or being stolen.

234938

* its only an alternative, as i notice in my previous trips, there are older mane who drive such bikes up the ferries while heading to Batam and they were being treated like some wheel chair.

4. When it comes to infrastructure, it really depends on how one looks at it. JB definitely got the upper hand. They have to becos point A to point B is REALLY far apart hence the people living in johor need to make bulk shopping,hehehe...in Singapore, i sincerely appreciate the covered walkway when i walked from point A to point B. In Batam, once it gets rainy or gets too sunny during the day, walking can be near impossible, if not a hassle.

5. Now, medical facilities is the most interesting part on retirement. While JB may have be able to beat Batam totally hands down when it comes to medical facilities, i devised my own solution, tapping into Singapore medical facilities instead of using Batam's.

- Remember i talk about Batam's hospital? Its not gonna come cheap when it comes to the best in town. I even list out some decent Batam's hospital, but only one were able to have a more complete medical facilities. (i skipped reading the RM$1 hospital bill becos i arent a malaysian,hehehe...)

https://sbf.net.nz/showthread.php?p=18528795&highlight=hospital#post18528795

- Again, remember i talk about being a tourist in Batam which i choose to still be one even if i choose to retire in Batam,hehehe...i will need a fairly good medical TRAVEL insurance,hehehe...which i will come to that on a later time. I have done quite a bit of research on that recently. If anyone remembers, i did talk about having medical helicopter flying me back to Singapore and those insurance covers me the particular portion too. (i need some time to organize those postings)

- What i am trying to work out here today when it comes to medical during my retirement would be, i will be staying in Batam majority of my time but i will still be tapping into Singapore medical facilities (since i am Singaporean). Hence in the event of a real medical emergency, i need to have that capability to "fly" back to Singapore in the shortest possible time (faster than travelling by ferry). Other times, i will just take the ferry,hehehe...counting from the moment i step out of my Singapore home to reach my would-be Batam home, only no more than 2 hours during peak time. But it will take me at least about 3.5 hours for JB during non-peak time and definitely way beyond 3.5 hours during a peak time.

- I do hear/read a handful of sad stories on Indonesian in Indonesia local hospitals too. i need to agree with your point. Situation compared for a Malaysian in Malaysia and Indonesian in Indonesia. Malaysia is definitely better. Hehehe...as for Singaporean in Singapore, while it MAY stand a high chance to save my life, but i might also go bankrupt after that if i dont plan well (hence i try my best to keep myself as healthy as possible).

6. On accessibility between the 2 countries, this is actually the biggest issue for me. No access 24 hours, 7 days a week and how i wish they could actually build a bridge over or do an under ground tunnel,hehehe...but this is rather unlikely. Therefore i need to work out other plans to counter this weakness, which is the insurance and the helicopter travelling. When i added this part of my plan to counter accessibility during an emergency, the cost for my per year spending goes upward.

7. Safety in a city or country really depends on individual. Some would say a certain household have every member in it being robbed, threatened or had their things stolen before. i have had friends who lost his motobike he bought in Batam before too. But do note that i am there as a tourist, i speak as a tourist, and i planed to retire as one. I have never been robbed or had my things stolen in Batam before. For every 1 friend of mine (that stays in Batam) who has been robbed or things stolen, i have yet another 100 of them who didnt. So the statistic isnt really accurate hence i said, it really depends on individual. I cannot have my vehicle stolen when i dont own one. ;)

(there really isnt any right or wrong on this point or even an accurate way to find the correct statistic, so i am only speaking on myself, as an individual)

Whether Batam is safer or JB is safer, really depends on how one looks at it. And i only speak of me and myself. Doesnt mean JB isnt safe and thankfully to the entity up there, i have not had any mishaps so far in both JB and Batam. So both were all safe enough places (for me).

234942

8. Hmm...when it comes to cheonging, both sides do have many options. In fact, i find JB having many more options than Batam,hehehe...or the least i could easily find Thai girls, Vietnamese, PRCs etc and other more exotic races of girls in JB, but those choices in Batam were unlikely there in bigger numbers as compare to JB. Which means, JB has more choices of different types of girls than Batam,hehehe...right? :D

234944

Price wise may have cost a bit lesser in Batam but well, i am sure if one is from the 1st world countries, they were unlikely to try to save on cents when it comes to dollar versus varieties versus qualities. It still ultimately boils down to what one is looking for. As of today, my priorities are Indonesian girls, hence Batam is heaven,hehehe...

Disclaimers :

When i make all those points above, i wasnt saying what you point out is right or wrong. Its NOT an argument nor comparison between Batam and Johor but more of that i learned of a certain deficiency exist and how i would counter it when i picked Batam by choice.

Other pointers :

The postings/info i shared on retirement in Batam isnt meant to encourage readers to come to Batam to retire,in fact i would like to see Batam has as less retirees from Singapore as possible,hehehe... It would likely lessen out many competition and has a higher chance to keep cost down for a longer period of time (cost of living will always goes upward over time).

When i pick Batam as a retirement ground, i have to work out the odds, seek solution/s for any issue that i might encounter. I grew in this thread with readers watching how i grow. I started as an individual tourist, having not step foot into Batam about 5 years ago (those who miss out knowing me can read back my 40 posts of month to month trip summaries which i wrote, linked on my signature). i grew to like this place i visit which is now heaven to me. I wish to spend my remaining parts of my life in this heaven (while still on earth). Its that simple.

Whatever obstacles that comes in my way,i will try to work out some solution/s. Those who read would know, be it my past trip summaries, be it the info compilation, and in the start of this thread stated, its mostly on me, myself and i. Just like how i compile my apartment-buying information below :

https://sbf.net.nz/showpost.php?p=18734650&postcount=13831

I am now working on retiring in Batam and am still doing so. Its an ongoing process and it wouldnt end any time soon. Like 5 over years ago, i took baby steps a time in Batam and those steps has took me this far 5 years later. Retirement isnt about staying at home doing nothing to me but is more about doing something i like to do meaningfully, and hopefully be able to pass on with some dignity when my time comes. (there is actually no perfect place to retire in)

234937

Last but not least,i wish every retirees (and future retirees), be it those in the Philippines, Thailand, JB or Batam...i wish they can all be able to have a fruitful life before their respective Big Guy "up there" called for them to "return".

Enjoy your time...wherever you are.

Cheers!

I been in and out of JB for donkey ears. Have a free hold landed property at JB too. So far so good. Never been rob at nite. Medical expense cheap and service Good. Cars also cheap and i can drive all the way to KL...or even Thailand. Just need to pay tolls. What more can i expect? Satisfied leow. Only hope the cost of living dont go up as fast as sillypore.:o

Yes. Is a good place to cheong. For retirement i will look at the tenure of the property. If no freehold or 99 years i just give it a miss. Of course other area like transportation, medical expenses etc etc have to consider too. But to me property important to me. But tats me. My meat may be ur poison.

My JB friend also told me that most of his friends in JB has ever encountered kena robbed, kena snatched handbag, things stolen from house, etc

Actually in order to judge whether Johor or Batam is a safer place just based on the media news reports has proven the statistics of crime in JB ...which is a well known fact among sporean & msian.

Which implies that in general Johor Bahru has a worse crime rate than Batam overall however crime can still happen anywhere (base on luck) even in super safe singapore.:)

Brother Retirebatam,

I would like to add some of my personal views:-
Retiring in these places is very much a personal consideration based on one's inclination, health and wealth.

Thanks bro for your other pointers pertaining to retirement criteria.

However financial status of the retiree is still the most important deciding factor to be able to retire in a foreign land.

正所谓 :

Wish you happy retirement and not forgetting to cheong and enjoy to the fullest…

Actually in my opinion, there are four aspects of safety in a country

Normal crime
In general, indonesia’s has a relatively lower crime rate compared to malaysia. Reason could also be due to indonesia’s culture, a lot of emphasize on teaching people to be good and to treat other people with respect. Indonesian people in general tend to get contented easier. Although it has some petty crimes, serious crime are seldomly heard.

Riots
When comes to riots concerned, bolehland is a relatively much safer place. KL riots which was reported in the news seldom have casualty but more like some peaceful protest.

Unlike in indonesia big cities like jakarta, indonesian chinese often get targeted as it only constitute 1.5% of the total population in indonesia but control 70% of the economy.

Terrorism
There is also another type of risk faced in indonesia which is terrorism. Remember about the shocking case of Surabaya churches bombing carried out by a family members on the suicide attack which caused many deaths.

Although in Malaysia has some kidnapping cases in sabah near Philippine before however for penisular malaysia is rather safe.

Natural Disaster
2018 is an unfortunate year for indonesia as there were so many fatal disasters happened in indonesia:
1) Feb 2018 - a landslide in Pasirpanjang, Brebes, Central Java
2) Aug 2018 - Earthquake in Lombok (beside Bali)
3) Sep 2018 - Large earthquake caused a tsunami at Palu, Sulawesi
4) Dec 2018 - Eruption of volcano and underwater landslides caused the Sunda Strait tsunami.

Because of its geographic location long the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia has suffered from many natural disasters including earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and floods, etc

From the past history, disaster had striked Java, Sumatra, Bali/Lombok and Sulawesi, etc

Luckily for Singapore, JB and the Riau islands including Batam are safe as its geographical locations do not lie at the continental tectonic plates..

Try the S$5 living a day challenge and you will have a better understanding when it comes to cost of living. Its more about quality of life versus cost of living and everyone's requirement can be different..

Yes, everyone’s lifestyle during retirement differs. One must have proper financial planning before going into retirement so that his retirement life will not get disrupted halfway..

Retirement planning basically to ensure that :

i)There is a steady flow of income for the retiree for the rest of his life after he has stopped working.

ii) Retirement expenditure to be budgeted carefully, including taking into account those hidden or indirect costs. Also to ensure that monthly retirement income must be more than the expenditure. The surplus after expenditure can then be accumulated to enhance the savings. And the cycle goes on.

iii)Must reserve funds for medical treatment and unforeseen circumstances like emergency.

iv) Liquidity of asset is an important factor as it is the ability you have to convert any asset into cash quickly as you may need it urgently. Cash is the best.

v)The monthly retirement income must not be subjected to too much fluctuation.

The monthly/yearly income for retirement can come from the following:

1) Passive income from rental of property like flat or room. Rented out a HDB 3 room flat can fetch about $1800-2200 monthly. However, this is not a very stable type of income as the tenant may terminate the lease anytime.

2) Annuity income on a monthly payout from insurance or investment company. Annuity offers better interest rate returns (usually about 4-5%) as compared to fix deposit in bank.

3) CPF life monthly payout from 65 years old for as long as the person lives. If have already set aside the full retirement sum by age 55 is expected to get a monthly payout of one thousand over dollars from age 65.

4) Insurance saving plan payout usually in a lump sum after having invested for many years.

5) Other investment income like FD interest, shares dividend, etc

Above is my 2 cents on retirement planning, everyone may have his own perpective...

All things (other than medical facilities) were within reach within 20 mins of walking distance (yes, i use the word "All" here, which is a strong word,hehehe..)

Advantage of retiring in Batam is that foreigner can buy property in Batam like apartment or condominium unit for as low as S$75,000 as compared to owning a condo unit in JB at the minimum price of RM 500,000 = S$165,000

The monthly maintenance fee for JB condo unit per month range from RM 100 plus to RM 300 plus. However not familiar how much is the maintenance fee charge at Formosa Residence or Citra Plaza studio apartment ?

However, the loan interest rate for buying property is generally slightly higher in Batam than in JB. (also depends on the type of loan package and bank)

Due to the frequent devaluation of the indonesian currency, many businessman or property buyer loan large amount of rupiah as over time, the currency becomes devalue and so are the loan rupiah amount.:)
Thus in this way,the loan interest will be off set by the devaluation of the rupiah..

That is why many indonesian businessman loan rupiah from bank for doing business but quickly convert their surplus business profit from rupiah into US dollar or Sing dollar to grow their profit..:D

You are absolutely right.

Tomyam in JB
Malaysia is next to thailand therefore the tomyam girls from the border of thailand or hatyai will travel south to KL or JB. Therefore you see many thai massage joints in JB. Some famous thai joints include King's Spa, amazing thai, bangkok spa, etc

PRC in JB
For the past ten over years ago, Jb has ever been flooded with many PRCs offering massage, KTV and short time service at massage joints. However, in recent years as China gets richer, more high tech and modern, many PRC girls have gone back to china to look for greener pasture, as the amount of ringgit earned may not be sufficient for them.. However, there are still a lower tier PRC girls remain in JB "cari makan" which they have their own regular customers.

Pho in JB
In recent years, there has been an increasing number of vietnamese girls in Jb offering sex service in massage parlour and health centre. Some vietnamese joints include Rich&Bitch, little saigon mp, VIP spa, etc. JB Taman sentosa area have many vietnamese restaurant to cater to all these viet girls working around the vicinity.
In the near future, the viet girls will take over PRC as the most number of foreign masseuse in JB

Bakso in JB
These indon cewek ususally come from either Batam or tanjung pinang on social visit pass (1 month) offering short time service either freelance or massage joints.

Nasi Lemak in JB
There are many massage joints offering body and penis massage done by young and pretty malay girls. They are trained to massage the manhood of their customers which is called urut batin. Some joints strictly no roaming while some allow with good tips.

Char keow teow in JB
The local chinese malaysian girls are found in upmarket hotel health centre. They normally offer package sex service at a high price tag. These hotel health centre seldom get raided as it only employs local malaysian chinese , sarawakian or sabahan, (no foreigner allowed) therefore can said quite safe to cheong there. :)

I also have to start to plan for my retirement here in batam.. .getting soon to 50 liao.

Hmm...the thing about retiring in Batam for me doesnt mean i am giving Singapore up. Its more of trying to make both ends meet.

Some 4 odd years back, if anyone has been reading the old Batam thread before this one starts, on Samat the 81 years old security guard who passed on in Batam. He has a home there (in Batam) but still working in Singapore. Not a rich man, but his life in Batam...i envied.

What i found out about him after his death :

1. He is still a Singaporean upon death.

2. He goes back to Batam once every around 10 days or so for 2 to 3 days.

3. He didnt owe anyone money and is financially sound enough to afford all the necessities (even tho he chose to sell away his HDB flat but that was after he's 65). When i 1st know him, he's already in his 70s.

4. After he pass on, he left enough money for his family, or the least enough for his 2 children and wife to reach adulthood in Batam.

5. The Singapore consulate covers all his death/hospital expense. His family in Batam pays zero dollar.

I am using his life like some kind of a guideline, and in hope to do better. And following behind me while i plan my retirement, i hope others could do better than i did. ;)

Looking at example of a good life in Batam above, i also constantly reminds myself one of the cleaner in the same old building i used to work in who also choose to retire in Batam. He didnt have a good one, in fact he pass on penniless. His life saving, inclusive his money money he got from selling his flat sucked dry...that guy from the way i look at it, completely didnt plan at all.

1. Stayed with a girl who already got a husband - not divorced, still alive.

2. The girl he stayed with got a 18 year old daughter, he married the daughter when she turn 19 instead. He is in his 60s then. (he passed on at about age 68,if i didnt remember wrong).

3. He bought a house (not apartment) in Batam under the girl's daughter's name.

4. The girl, her husband and her daughter sold away the house and ran away.

5. Upon death, according to his other colleagues, left behind nothing for his sister who helps settled his remains. I dont know if he owe anyone anything, but some of the security guards did lent him some money before (everyone in the building knew he often goes around trying to borrow money). He still owe me S$10 few months before he passed on which i told no need to return tho.

Needless to say, the cleaner's life in Batam is not what i am looking forward to. Nor will it be a life anyone who wish to retire in Batam would look forward to. Both person mentioned here speaks the Malay language and were Singaporean upon death and i have learned quite a bit from both before i decide on my retirement in Batam.

Hehehe...i remember i used to talk about sustainability. I am doing many fun stuffs in Batam today which might just help me in sustaining my future lifestyle when i reach my retirement age hence to me, Batam is like a RPG game for me. :p

Example :

Most probably throw them away, right...but what if a lighter can be charge via USB or from the power socket? Hehehe...such lighters do exist on earth, just that it cost around 20 over times compared to conventional lighters. ;)

Friends in Batam who are smokers, i maybe coming for you around end of 2019...hehehe...or beginning 2020. Those who joined in my temple trip/s before, those lighters can be use to light incense too. :D

Let's do our part/s to save the earth together. :p

About 10 years back when I was working in a building in Bukit Batok, I knew a chinese old man cleaner in his 70s by the name of Mr Chua who often goes to Batam to have fun.

Although he was single, he ended up fallen in love with a booking cewek who came from kalimantan. He rented a house for her at the outskirt of batam city and gave her money to do business. He travelled to batam to stay for 3-4 days every month. His salary was about $750 per month during that time and has invested more than S$50,000 which is inclusive of all his CPF withdrawal, life savings for the cewek.

Soon after few years has passed, she told him that she has lost all the money invested in the business and even dared to ask for more. But during that time, Mr Chua was diagnosed with cancer and physically unable to go to Batam anymore as he became weak and often require to do chemotherapy.

In the end he also lost his job and financially unstable. He stayed with one of his sibling as he could not afford a flat. The indonesian woman also did not bother to visit him in singapore as she was only concerned about money. All his hard earned money was gone..

From this example, I have learn a few things:

1) Always buy the milk but not the cow.

2) No real love between a Working Lady and a Cheongster

3) Never 100% trust a working lady’s words.

4) Must plan for retirement early. Still working at the age of 70s is quite pathetic.

5) Do not use CPF savings to splurge on cewek or else all hard earned money will be kena sucked dry dry..

6) Remember the saying…No money, No honey. This is a very realistic world. Usually people with money will be treated with due respect.

钱并不是万能的,但没钱是万万不能的

Hi, in batam are there dirty bars just like those dirty bars in joo chiat or geylang whereby we can caress and dig her cheebye.

At least 25yrs ago, in johore bahru, there are bars whereby the girls wear kimonos and under the kimonos, she wear nothing. So when she open the kimonos, we can grope her breast, buttock and dig her cheebye, she also do blowjob inside the bars.
Thanks

Wow, nice one. Batam have this type bo? if have intro me leh...

The photo not in Batam bro. Its a place near to Singapore,hehehe...looks enticing but who knows may end up having no hanky panky at the end of the day.

I was actually about to tell you Batam no such thing, but after thinking for a bit...hmm...you can try looking around for Batam salon that has half-blocked partition,hehehe...meaning its not those fully covered up the ceiling kind of partition but half. Each sitting will have a partition or 2 sitting customer one partition kind. If you can find those , 90% chance that salon shop will have hanky panky,hehehe...:D

Most indonesian girls are just too shy to allow another person watching them and their serving customer openly having hanky panky, even KTV girls too.

Side track a little
Bringing whole kampung over to Batam this weekend
Any good shops to recommend for my OC and relatives?
Massage + pedicure + manicure + facial

Eska Spa at both Nagoya Hill Mall and Mega Mall has all services you listed, plus hairdressing as well.

Eska can be a good choice. A bro previously here mentioned about Eska Hotel around Kepril Mall area which has everything under one roof ,not a bad choice tho.

https://sbf.net.nz/showthread.php?p=18723238&highlight=eska#post18723238

The only setback would be, area is far from cheonging area. If its on family fun trip, this one not bad. Just a gentle reminder, Hari Raya is on the 5th June, this weekend is 1st and 2nd of June.

Enjoy your trip.

This is good information for me, and duly noted with sincere thanks. And i do consider all you have mentioned above in my Batam retirement plan, especially so on (iv). I do take into consideration on (iv) even when i make my plans on buying properties in Batam too.

How fast can it be sold when i need them sold?

As well as other trivial things which i took into consideration...

1. Who's gonna paint/clean my external block wall every 5 years? (just look at the condition of Batam Queen Victoria apartment blocks after 5 odd years,hehehe..)

2. Who's gonna fix my apartment when there's a leak on my ceiling? (since MOST apartment owners wont be at home in Batam)

3. Will there even be a rubbish chute? (i am saying, how they gonna manage their rubbish from those apartment blocks and not who will,hehehe..)

4. Lift breakdown? Hehehe...not that i am stingy, but i am considering buying lower floors than higher floors for this reason. Pros and cons, and i will need to bear with the mosquitoes (easy for me).

Many would feel that i think too much or just being kiasu. One of the other factor which i REALLY REALLY MUST consider before purchase is...who's the management and how efficient they are (even after i have cut expectation by half).

The monthly maintenance fee for JB condo unit per month range from RM 100 plus to RM 300 plus. However not familiar how much is the maintenance fee charge at Formosa Residence or Citra Plaza studio apartment ?

Thank you for reminding me to ask them,hehehe...i completely forget about it. But base on what i am looking, it probably wont cost much since there are so many units in one single floors and they have such high storey condos. Then again, i still need to ask as i need to know too.

For maintenance in Sillypore condos, the lesser the total number of units in a block, the higher the amount. Which is why i guessed it wont cost more than S$480/month comparing it with a 33 units in a single block condominium,hehehe...HDB 3 room flat is about S$45/month tho.

Hmm...this one is interesting, and i learned something. Will be looking further on it.

Thank you again for sharing.

About 10 years back when I was working in a building in Bukit Batok, I knew a chinese old man cleaner in his 70s by the name of Mr Chua who often goes to Batam to have fun.

Looking from another angle of view,i cannot blame these older generation of seniors. Most were lesser educated, they werent able to manage or plan their finance as well as the current newer generation. To make matter worse, there use to be a saying, never eat pork also ever seen a pig run before (没吃过猪肉,也该见过猪跑), and Mr Chua's generation seriously havent seen pig run nor eat pork much during his time.

The newer generation, like ours...has seen and hear many stories in Batam as mentioned by you and me, either thru friends, the newspaper or even from reading this thread. But what about Mr Chua's generation whom you said was in his 70s or 80s? It was "his generation" that make those "mistakes" so our current generation gets to read and learn from it, so as we could avoid making the same or similar mistake/s. Thats why so often, i much appreciate senior bros here who shared their past experience on Batam.

* few months ago,i got some chance to interview handful of older Singaporean who were born in the 30s and 40s, hence i was somehow able to look at things from their perspective. People can say, the past has more opportunities, compare to present but then out of 1000 back then from the past, how many can REALLY "make it" in life?

** their generation were "once upon a time" where a group of young boys who would stand together in the same roll behind the five-foot-way to masturbate and challenging each other who will fire off their cum the furthest...hehehe...winner wins the bet (beside just catching spiders etc). :D

Some time when i look at those failed situations and while i pity their ending, i also envy them (i envied their fun time they got and not their ending). At the least, these group of seniors have had their best form of fun during their younger days. Their respective ending were result of the choice they made thereafter.

An old chinese saying goes like that, some pitiful people, surely have something they did not right in their life - 可怜之人,必有可恨之处。

How fast can it be sold when i need them sold?

The ease of selling off your condo unit in Batam depends on the following :

1) Location of your property.
If you buy a property outside nagoya / batam centre (suburb area), then expect to take more time to find a buyer because less likely the buyer will be a foreigner but more likely to be a local thus less chance to sell it off. Thus location of property no doubt is the most important factor to consider. Best to buy either near ferry terminals like batam center or harbourbay mall areas like jodoh. (harboubay residence) or alternatively buy one near nagoya hill mall (citra plaza). Avoid buying those property that is far away from city as those location requires private transport like personal car or ojek. (example Tiban area, Bengkong, Batu Aji, etc)

2) Selling price of your property unit.
If sell your property very much above the valuation price, then expect it to take longer period to sell.

3) Current property market status.
Now is the buyer’s market meaning that buyer is at the advantage since they have more option of properties to choose to buy from (since supply is more than demand) while the seller is slightly at the losing end.

4) Condition of your condo/apartment unit
A renovated or fully furnished and well maintain unit can be sold off easier than an unfurnished or run down unit with many defects.

5) Marketing strategy
How fast can sell the property depends on whether you use agent to sell or advertisement through newspaper, etc.

I think any foreigner considering buying a property in Batam, please go find out the facts from a local Notaris. From what I know, Indonesia owner buy property now under Hak guna bangunan, foreigner buy a property under Hak pakai bangunan. They are very different in fact, ans I think there is also a difference in the max number of years this Hak (right) can be extended.

Worst thing about foreigner buying a property under Hak pakai, if they want to sell to a local, almost any local will prefer to convert the Hak Pakai to Hak Guna, and the cost is NOT cheap. So please find out full details.

PP Banana was the only place that could be named "gogo bar" in Batam. A pool, drinks, girls willing to be naughty on site.
Almost hidden behind Lucy’s Oarhouse at the entrance of Kampung Bule at the second floor.
The few times I tried, I found a modest location, few sleazy girls, not really youngest and pretty. Not a place I would recommend. There is much better in Batam.
Question was: is still open??
Batam is not anymore the place which we were used to know years ago: Pacific, Permata, No Name,.... and girls available for half the money of today.

Ever since Jokowi took over office, there were changes to the rules facilitating foreign ownership of property. This is an important step for foreign investors to gain confidence in the Indonesian property market which can help boost the economy.

From my understanding, Indonesian owner buy Indonesia property fall under two categories:

1) Hak Milik (right to own) which is a freehold title that can be bought, sold or mortgaged by an Indonesian citizen and do not need to be extended.

2) Hak Guna Bagunan (right to build) which is the right to use a building for a certain period of time and then has to be extended. The owner of Hak Guna Bagunan land is the Indonesian government. Under this, the Indonesian national has the right to construct a building on a plot of land for a period of 25 years and subject to subsequent renewal by applying to the National Land Agency.

On the other hand, foreigners are currently able to buy Indonesia property under the following ways:

1) Hak Pakai (right to use) which is the right to purchase an apartment with strata title within an apartment block that is on state land. The foreigner owner must renew their right to use. The initial Hak Pakai period is for 25 years, then is renewed for an additional 25 years and finally a 20 years period. (maximum 70 years) (leasehold)

2) Purchase of a house on freehold land by written consent from the Indonesian landowner. This is for 25 years and extendable for another 25 years. (maximum 50 years)

3) Purchase of a freehold property by a nominee Indonesian national who would own the freehold title but signs over power of attorney and other legal rights.
(the indonesian national cannot sell the property without the consent of the foreigner)

When a country gets too advance/high tech/modern, the cost of living will also increase. Therefore retiring in a less developed country gives your savings a higher purchasing power.

That’s why many people wish that bolehland should not be too developed so that the cost of living remain affordable to most of the people like cheap car, cheap house, cheap necessity items, cheap goods and services, etc.

By the way, what is the requirement of minimum price that a foreigner can purchase landed property in msia during the time when you bought your landed property?:)

retirebatam
03-06-2019, 11:18 PM
Yes. Is a good place to cheong. For retirement i will look at the tenure of the property. If no freehold or 99 years i just give it a miss. Of course other area like transportation, medical expenses etc etc have to consider too. But to me property important to me. But tats me. My meat may be ur poison.

Malaysia is still a foreigner-friendly country with relatively cheap living costs. Comparatively, it is also a more retirement friendly country than the rest of the south east asia countries as this can be seen from the number of properties built for foreigner to buy, be it apartment/condo or landed properties and most of them are freehold properties (strata title and land title) which foreigner can own.
(this is unlikely the case in indonesia)

To encourage foreigner to retire in malaysia, the msia garmen also issue MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home) long term visit pass (10 years) to the successful foreigner applicant and can renew for another 10 more years upon expiry. The benefit of MM2H is that the successful applicant is able to buy one tax free vehicle and lots of other benefits.
(there is no such privilege in indonesia)

If did not remember wrongly, over the years, the eligibility criteria that a foreigner can buy JB landed property under the following minimum value requirement has been changed several times:

Before Year 2008, foreigner can buy JB landed property above RM 250,000

From Year 2008 - 31 Dec 2013, foreigner can only buy JB landed property above RM 500,000.

From 1 Jan 2014 - Till date, foreigner can only buy JB landed property above RM 1,000,000 (land title) and JB Apartment/Condo units above RM 500,000 (strata title)

The purpose of the changes is to reserve more “cheaper landed property” for local malaysian.

Many would feel that i think too much or just being kiasu. One of the other factor which i REALLY REALLY MUST consider before purchase is...who's the management and how efficient they are (even after i have cut expectation by half).

1. Unlike in singapore where condo/apartments gets a fresh coat of paint every 5 -7 years under repair and redecoration works, buildings in indonesia including batam always lack routine maintenance. Can see some buildings in batam after it was built has hardly any maintenance, neglected and in a terrible run down condition.

2. Under the strata title act in singapore, if there is a inter-floor water seepage between the upper floor and the lower floor in a condo, the upper floor owner is liable and responsible to carry out the repair. And if the water leakage is at the unit on the highest floor, then it is the responsibility of the management to carry out the repair at the roof since the roof is a common area which is maintained by the management.

However, if there is a ceiling leakage on your newly bought unit from the developer in Batam, the developer normally will provide either 5 or 10 years warranty to all the waterproofing work at all levels and will undertake to carry out the rectification work.

3. The rubbish chute is either inside the individual unit kitchen area or at the common corridor. They should have a refuse collection truck to remove rubbish from the condo daily. However, not sure whether the refuse collection in batam is efficient and reliable or not.

4. Lift breakdown can be an important issue for a high rise building. Lift contractor are supposed to attend to the breakdown within a certain time duration. But Batam is not Spore. As it may lacks qualified lift technician to repair and service the lift.

5. In spore, strata units (condo/Apt) are managed by professional managing agent. However, Batam may not have sufficient qualified people to maintain the building. :)

I bought when the threshold was 500k. Now above 1 juta. As for MM2H, still contemplating.

Costs of living still ok for now. But with the sultan jv with china developer, can forsee lots of prc coming over. Things wont be cheap. I may consider another property at Batam if the leasehold criteria to my favour. If its just 25 years and renewal for lets say till 100 years then can consider i.e. if the purchase price dont cost more than my unit at JB.:D My JB house cost me S$230k in today value. So the batam unit cannot cost more than S$40K ...considering is a leasehold and only 25yrs lease. But i always have this feeling i feel more comfortable over at JB than Batam.:(

Previously when i was renting a 2 storey property with 2 bedroom in Baloi area it cost me 1 juta for 1 month as the electricity meter was using prepaid token that was with the Ac on 24 hrs water bill is counted separately maybe that could serve as your benchmark. While a short stint in a batam studio apartment in DC mall area monthly eletricity came to about 500,000 IDR.

When u enter pacific disco, u see high sofas , so surely can rabba rabba the girls, no more a disco, mummy will approach u.

This is interesting. Lup Sup Bar in Singapore is a dying trend, if there were ever one in batam, probably might attract more people there,hehehe...i am just curious how would it be like the concept is done in Batam. Lights off, hands on,when the bills comes or lights on, paying table will be surround by many girls,hehehe... :p

jb have leh recently

Hehehe...Batam used to have. Just dont know if they are still around.

How i wish someone would bring Shenzhen salon concept of the 80s/90s to Batam.

from what i know it's clean de leh

Try being the last customer of the evening during a weekday. May stand a higher chance if the massage girl is young,hehehe... What i am saying here is, its a happy and willing concept for the 2 involved party in the room.

Yes, i agreed with you the place Spa secret is indeed "clean".

Hmm..that being said, landed property electricity cost is doubled that of a studio apartment (base on same person living in it). It makes more sense to me now. I cannot imagine myself paying 1.5 juta a month just for electricity usage alone.

I do have a handful of friends who rent studio apartment in Batam and the monthly electricity were about similar to yours. Previous known local taxi drivers i knew stayed in landed property, but their bill cant be use as benchmark for foreigner staying in apartment.

Thank you for sharing.

Hehehe...Batam never fail to surprise me,so many new hotels suddenly pop up...hehehe...and here's interesting hotel at one corner of Nagoya Hill Mall itself, calling itself AK Hotel.

236819

Not bad for a new hotel that cost around S$32. The type of room below cost around S$32...

236820

236821

...and of course, most of them were actually more squarish instead of round shaped. One funny thing is that the squarish shaped room actually cost about S$36 and they are at 21 square meter, 2 square meter bigger than the semi-circled room that cost about S$32.

236822

Room of the same size as the squarish room but with an extra single person bed will then cost around S$43,hehehe...

236823

I would say not bad for a short stay vacation since this hotel is practically just half a stone throw away Nagoya Hill Mall. :D

Since i am mostly staying around Nagoya area, hence my sharing would mostly be around that area,hehehe...and i just notice this rather expensive Beverly Hotel recently, located somewhere between the Elisabeth hospital and Nagoya Mansion.

236825

Location wise not so fantastic and their basic 19 square meter room cost around S$58.

236826

...and the bigger room at 30 square meter cost about S$67.

236827

Dont know why the hotel's asking price is so high. Maybe becos they have a bath tub in their 30 square meter room?

236828

Or perhaps because they have a swimming pool? Hehehe...

236829

For myself, i think there are better hotels than this one with the similar price in Batam,hehehe...:D

236830

I think maybe they are new...hehehe...and no, i wont be staying there anytime soon even tho its near Nagoya area.

_________________________________

Below has nothing to do with the above Beverly hotel above.

Hmm...recently seems to have quite a lot of people renting out their apartments and/or villa type house out like a hotel room. There's one near Batam Center area that catches my attention tho.

(the back of villa)
236843

It came with 3 bed rooms and only cost around S$114.00,hehehe...not bad for a short stay with a handful of friends.

(the front of villa)
236842

I am guess their selling point for this villa hotel is more onto "back to nature".

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/06/04/b2.jpg

There is a rowing boat...hehehe...

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/06/04/b3.jpg

A balcony to see sunset and sunrise.

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/06/04/b4.jpg

I notice some fishing rod near the bbq it area too.

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/06/04/b6.jpg

...and one of how the other room looks like on the 2nd floor.

http://www.imgflex.com/images/2019/06/04/b7.jpg

Now, for S$114.00, its a good deal...hehehe...i factor in all the transport travelling cost and the expense to buy groceries from convenient into the villa. I never consider swimming in the pond tho. :p

236845

Lots of greenery in this place and i am also expecting mosquitoes too. Nonetheless, its a good place with a good price for most city dwellers to hit back to nature for some peaceful serenity with friends and family members. I may try out this place tho, if time allows.

Enjoy Batam, enjoying life...

I believed the studio apartment you are saying is actually kost or so call kost executive. Example like lai lai apartment. Those electricity is definitely low cost. If compare with those high rise apartment is great different.

My personal exprience:
Lai Lai Apartment average about 600k a month.

Big landed house about 1.6juta a month. (Didnt tried to save. Just used as i like)

High rise apartment about 1.9juta a month. (after i tried to save on electricity, sometime hit 2.1juta).
Maintence fee at 1juta a month.

Maintenance fee for apartment in batam is from 1juta to 2.5juta a month. Depend on which apartment. So far there is only one apartment in batam worth buying.
Apartment electricity charges is almost 3 times of normal landed house.

Actually the maintenance fee of a condo/apartment unit is determined by the following factors:

1) The share value of the unit.
Different size of apartment unit has different share values. Example : a studio apartment may have 3 share values, a 2 bedroom unit has 5 share values, 3 bedroom unit have 6 share values while a penthouse unit may have 8 share values. Each share value is calculated based on the total annual budgeted expenditure divided by the total share values of the condo. The difference in share value of the unit is not directly proportional to the difference in floor area. Therefore the condo owner pay maintenance fee base on the share value of his unit

2) The number of units.
This is what bro Nono has mentioned. More units - less maintenance fee per unit

3) The type of facilities the condo/apartment provides.
Whether any swimming pool, gym, tennis court, BBQ pits, function room, water features, etc as these facilities will incur maintenance costs especially swimming pool.

4) The number of M&E services provided by the development.
Whether high rise with many passenger lifts or low rise with fewer lifts. Also whether there are many pumps to maintain or not, intercom system, access card system, cctv system, escalator, no. of aircon to be serviced, etc. Also more lightings in the estate incurred higher utility bill. Maintenance of lift is one of the highest expenditure..

5) Type and class of condo/apartment.
Example : high end condo normally have concierge staff to open door for you when you arrive at the car porch, carry your barang barang to the lift. But for low end condo, occasionally can only see maid opening the door for their employer's car… :D

6) Number of term contractors and site workers working in the condo
The nos. of security guards, cleaners, gardeners, pest control worker, electrician, plumber, etc hired will affect the total expenditure and thus the maintenance fee of a unit.

Yes status. The only good things about staying in apartment. Of coz security and privacy also. Human being all like to have or feel the status, but when come to reality of buying, many normal locals will think twice on that. Buy a apartment unit is not difficult, but to resell it is not easy, if want to earn from it, will be a challenge.

Talking about Lailai apartment reminds me of Lailai Mutiara Hotel boss.

He is a Medan Chinese hokkien who owns the hotel and the Lailai apartment. Those lady masseuses that massage the Lailai hotel guest in their room actually stay in the Lailai apartment. Similarly for those lailai hotel staff too. Lailai apartment also rented out their rooms as kost (boarding house) to outsider too.

Lailai hotel (2 star) have installed a passenger lift about few years ago, previously need to walk up the staircase to the room. This hotel used to be a favourite place for uncles to bring booking cewek back from goldbird/sedona or another neaby booking joint as the hotel room is not that expensive at twenty over sing dollars per nite only and is much spacious and nicer than hotel Batamstar and hotel bahari.(1 star)

Nearby also have a few massage joints like abi massage, bahari massage, etc which can be called to Lailai hotel room as they provide photo album unlike lailai massage is based on rotation basis, cannot choose. (giliran)

However ever since NagoyaOne hotel (2 star) was built few years ago, Lailai mutiara hotel business has been affected as both hotel room price is not much difference but the room in NagoyaOne hotel is much nicer, bigger and newer.

Ibu Joko restaurant is also nearby serving authentic sunda food, a favourite place for orang sunda. During lunch hours can see many sunda cewek there. Sunda cewek typically has fairer skin compared to their Javanese counterparts because many of their hometown are located on highland area like Bandung, Bogor,Puncak, cipanas, etc in West Java which is exposed to lesser heat and sunlight. They also look slightly like Chinese as their skin colour is between brown and yellow. Sunda cewek tend to be more religious than javanese and generally more demanding for tips for service delivered. (more ambitious):D

I agreed that batam is a safer place compare to Johor Baru,
There a period when i need to walk pass Jodoh area evey nite between 12am to 2am and i walk alone, no problem encountered. I hang out every nite when im in batam for past 25 years and never have any issue before.
I always find batam very safe for me.

Bro ndnd, understand that you have migrated to Batam 25 years ago. I believe similarly for bro newyorker and bro BFOMF5...

Bro ndnd, since you have migrated or retired in batam, have you obtained indonesian Permanent Resident (PR) or Indonesia Citizenship. :p

Have you also obtained Batam Kartu Tanda Penduduk ? :)

Understand that singapore citizen can only renounce his/her Singapore citizenship if he/she has acquired citizenship of another country.

dropping your Singapore Citizenship depends on the country from which you are getting your new citizenship. Lets call it country X.

If country X doesnt recorgnize dual / multiple citizenships, then country X will ask you to denounce your Sing citizenship before they grant you the citizenship. In other word, your new citizenship is already approved, but subject to you denouncing your Sing citizenship.

If country X recorgnize dual/multiple citizenships, then you dont need denounce your Sing citizenship. Legally, Singapore government requires you to denounce it but, how would they know you are getting new citizenship from other country. you need to exercise your act well if you have obtained passport from your new country. Do not flaunt it (especially in front of ICA officers :):) )

True, and most friends who stays in this so called Kost executive werent there 24 hours, 7 days a week. Hence the calculation of the electricity bill need to plus minus a bit here and there.

Electicity bill more than 1 juta is crazy, more exp than Singapore.. Here, I am paying $160 for Singapore Power (electric, water and gas).

I notice in Indonesia, petrol were subsidized for locals and i read in news before, luxury items were kind of heavily taxed. There was news before that when Indonesia government cut the amount of subsidies for petrol, end up there was some riot or protest.

My guess, the subsidies goes to locals but not foreigners. They also subsidize some non-luxury items (especially necessities) but tax more on luxury items.

High rise apartment i guess were under the category of luxury items, especially electricity.

Local always find it stupid to buy and stay in apartment, and i happened to be one of the stupid one :D

If you or anyone were able to buy and stay in high-rise apartment , i dont see why that as stupid. Its more like the quality of life you seek. Imagine yourself staying in condo apartments in Singapore, its not stupid,hehehe...when the maintenance and/or electricity bill is at least 3 times higher as compared to Batam.

As mentioned above, i guess high-rise apartment/s were category under "luxury item",hence no subsidies, and even especially so for foreigners.

6) Number of term contractors and site workers working in the condo
The nos. of security guards, cleaners, gardeners, pest control worker, electrician, plumber, etc hired will affect the total expenditure and thus the maintenance fee of a unit.

Thats quite true too. Hmm...one the condos in Batam i am looking at actually employ some Korea companies to run/manage the place,hehehe...and i think the later maintenance is not going to come cheap. Then again, i am also concern of how well they can manage the apartment block.

Electricity wise, i can still have some solution but maintenance is now my other concern.

I plan to go solar (if electricity is at such "scary price" in Batam),hehehe...just like whats on my living place in Singapore and i need to cut air-con usage too. Location now is all the more important than before if my apartment were to cut air-con usage,hehehe... need to be airy enough.

I am collecting more information as i go along in this thread.

Hmm...this is helpful and note taken down for future reference.

In Sillypore, big home, big bill..ok,i get that but in Batam small home, big bill and big home small bill. Something that i believe that would puzzle most who are reading. Batam has never fail to amaze me, just like when i read fresh live sea food cost lesser than refrigerated sea food. Seriously...

That not counting their culture of paying less to get better service and paying more for not-so-good service i mentioned in the past,hehehe... thats my very own understanding of Batam.

Crazily amazing indeed. :D

I'll try to look around my laptop. Have a copy of Nagoya Homestay electricity bill from a few years back that you might find useful.

Thank you.

Yes status. The only good things about staying in apartment. Of coz security and privacy also. Human being all like to have or feel the status, but when come to reality of buying, many normal locals will think twice on that. Buy a apartment unit is not difficult, but to resell it is not easy, if want to earn from it, will be a challenge.

True, now is the buyer's market, buying is easy (many options) but selling is difficult (supply more than demand)

Most of the local batam residents (indonesian) would rather buy landed property than apartment for the following reasons.

1) They can own the landed property as they are indonesian citizen

2) There is no need to pay for maintenance fee unlike condo/apartment with facilities. To them, status may not be an essential thing but the convenience to park their car infront of their house in a landed property is one of their consideration.

Car is cheap and many Batam residents can afford. Brand New Toyota Agya 1.0E A/T small size car cost only 122 Juta = Sing $12,000 which is almost as cheap as msia car given that it is Toyota brand. Petrol, insurance, parking, maintenance, etc comparatively is much more cheaper here than spore.

3) Landed house utility bill (water/electricity) usually is cheaper than high rise apartment.

The reason could be due to water pressure is stronger in high rise apartment using booster pump and gravity flow from rooftop water tank as compare to direct water supply to the landed house from the garmen water agency. Thus more water flows out from the apartment water tap per min than the landed house water tap which resulted a higher water bill.

As for electricity bill, heresay that highrise apartment more expensive than landed house probably because the electricity meter in the new apartment is new tends to run more accurately.

Foreigner retiree / new immigrants on the other hand may consider apartment/condo over landed house for the following reasons:

1) Foreigner can only buy condo/apartment under hak pakai (right to use). Unlikely that the foreigner willing to purchase a freehold landed property by allowing a nominee Indonesian national to own the freehold title but signs over power of attorney as this could be quite risky for him in case anything happens.

2) Foreigner who doesn't drive or do not have an international driving licence or not familar with Batam road direction may opt for apartment because apartment are mostly located near the city centre or ferry terminal as compared to landed house location which is further away at the outskirt which rely more on private/public transport.

3) Foreigner who consider security and safety as their first priority but then again security guards in the condo can be bribed..

4) Foreigner who enjoy staying at high floor which is windy and also allow them to look at the beautiful view of batam city.

5) Foreigner especially bule/masaleh/farang/angmo who loves to have swimming pool and gym more than asian which condo can provide. :)

6) Convenience to buy daily necessity grocery items as most apartment location are surrounded by many convenience store nearby like alfamart, etc:p

No, i didnt apply for any long term stay in indonesia.
Just make an U turn will do.
Go back SG once awhile for KTV session :p or go malaysia for holiday.
I doubt anyone will renounce SG citizenship for Indonesia citizenship.
I used to have one batam KTP. Those provinsi type which valid for 5 years. The old KTP. Just 300k that time.
I used it as a discount card as i used to travel JKT and Jawa area. Many hotels charge lower rate if using an Indo KTP to check in.

Landed house pay to PLN. Base on PLN rate.

Apartment pay to property management. Base on the property's rate. Thats the different.

@ NONO, solar system for landed house is ok. For apartment, i doubt the management will approve even you own the unit. Better double check before purchase.

Thanks for all your hard work.
Although I am only a few weeks into reading all the batam info, I will refrain from publicly asking questions until I have read everything.

Your are welcome. Since this is a private message (aka PM), i have chose to reply you in public forum thread censoring off your nick for privacy reason. As for why i reply in public instead of using PM, well...your question is rather general which may deem for some discussion out in the open. Due to time factor,i make it a point not to reply to all my PMs too, thats mainly becos i have too many of them. On top of that, there's also word limitation on PM-ing too.

Just a note tho, while i compile information in the forum, i mainly use it for my own reference. When someone asked a repeated question, myself and maybe other bros here could easily redirect him/her to the information i compiled (trouble-maker/s and clone/s otherwise of course).

Or the least, there is a correct direction for someone who ask to seek for himself the answer, rather than getting all smash up just from "asking a question" (i was such victim before,hehehe..). It can be irritating to hear repeated question/s for many readers here and answer/s to many basic repeated question/s were usually buried deep down inside a forum thread after some time (this thread really move fast).

The solution, which is why nono1973 signature link was created. :D

*everytime i make a post in this thread, i am indirectly giving answer/s to newbie becos of my signature link that comes with it,hehehe..

The only thing I want to know right now is; at present day is it still worth going to batam?
(background: last 20 years been playing in china and PI, prior to that thailand, europe, and US)
Am planning a playventure in a few weeks, and after finding this forum I want to try batam.

On my own thought, I would just say Batam is still worth going to, tho not as worthy if compared to 15 to 25 years ago. My reason for saying that would be comparing failure rate versus success rate over getting a good time. In US, Thailand, Europe or perhaps other parts of Asia, the damage would usually be greater than Batam (calculating total cost of the trip to each place) if its gonna end with a fail. In other word, it boils down to how many fail can one afford to make in other countries versus Batam. The same amount of resources i used in other countries, i can fail more times in Batam.

(sorry,i may sound a bit pessimistic but its essential for me as most of my success were built on failure, and each fail comes with a price)

As for if one would have a good time eventually lies mainly on how well if one could blend into their culture and if the scene is suitable for those who are there. Imagine this, if you fail thrice or more in Batam, you probably would not like to step into it to waste time again,hehehe...

My usual saying goes like that, keep expectation low. i do that in all other countries i visited, even in Japan,hehehe...most time, i advise friends i brought to Batam to cut their expectation by at least half. :p

Try at least a 3D2N trip there and you might know more than you read here. Like i mentioned earlier, Batam is one of the lowest in terms of pricing for a total trip cost comparing with countries you mentioned (if you are from Singapore). I believe most Singaporean could afford those fail.

Enjoy! ;)
