555...managed to get a "temporary work permit" visa for a few days before OC join me thereafter. So got about 3 days to do what i need to go. After that.... watch TV in hotel room with OC for the next 3 nites. :p :D

Just passed by GM a hour ago. The rate for this afternoon is 23.72. It's advisable to change in SG (GM or Raffles Place), unless you have the time to proceed to Super Rch in Bkk for the little bit more of bahts. Cheers.

Bro sniper, apart from SR, which offers substantially better rates, most money changers in BK have rates that r around the same as SG.

Unless u r changing large amounts, the extra Baht that SR can give u would have been spent on travelling to their premises...not to mention the time and effort spent on finding your way there. Cheers :)

You are right it better to change in SG before going as I always did and deposit the bahts into my Thai bank account.
This due to SGD weaken against USD to $1.4028 but this afternoon the bahts rate went up to 23.22.

This is the policy applies on all Banks in LOS for drawing cash from ATM with foreign ATM card. Do change slightly more Bahts in SG as money changers here offer better rate, forgo the trouble of searching a ATM to withdraw cash, & a lower exchange value with sub charge. Try not to use credit card as well, the respective bank will bill a lower exchange rate for the payment. I would only use my credit card in the last resort for the payment of my hotel bill if I am cash-strapped on my last day stay in LOS. The cost of living in BKK is no longer cheap due to inflation.Whether the party goer or shopper, they have to spend more. Lastly, Money changers @ Raffles Place, Chinatown, Mustaffa & GM offer the best rate in town.

Well said. ATM (not local thai bank account) or plastic, there's a cost and price to convenience. Banks never lose, either surcharge or lousy exh rate. Just like changing money buy/sell, there's a spread 2-5%.

Most of the time i change in sinkapoor which offer better rate during weekdays. now no time, my nearest is northpoint but their weekend rate is slightly lower compare to monday morning in BKK airport (after out of custom) base on my 2times experience.

No, rate is lousy as with most of major thai banks (purple Siam Comm, yellow Ayuthya etc). Better deals still at UOB Thai. Anyhow, not a big deal diff unless you got family fortune to trade ..when you need it, you gotta have it.

Tourist bit's "seasonally" adjusted with usual high year end inbounds (vs lows same period prior year). Mar's likely hit with media fallout on red blood squirt (europe's more turned off):p

Today change at Bishan J8 at only 22.8. No choice lah... hedge a bit. Buy a bit first, then when rate is higher, but again. Lucky still got some loose notes from my last trip which was changed at a better rate.

Air tix also getting higher... dun seem to be able to get any flights below $200 for the decent timings. Ended up paying $302 for Thai Airways (Airasia round-trip going for $264).

Underestimated the crowd and almost missed my flight a few weeks ago coz immigration queues were all the way to the back at the 2 entrances. Luckily airline gave me a "fast forward" pass. Cleared immigration & security scan in 5 minutes. Came back queues also as long at arrivals. Oh yes... almost forgot what tiz thread about... Thai UOB today 22.75 :(

Also some places will con you money if you change for thai baht in the streets of thailand. watch out for those tuk tuk drivers. but some of them really know good places to bring you cheong!

The money changers @ ChinaTown, Raffles Place, Golden Mile & Mustafa do offer the best rate in town so far as my knowledge. Cheers.
