Cheapest Budget Airline to Bangkok

Hi all, could any travel gurus advise plssss?

Which is the cheapest budget airline to Bangkok from here?
I have compare a few but i still confuse as all prices are different taxes & surcharges...why?

Is it cheaper to buy from travel agents at Golden Mile complex there?
Is the return flight fixed or we could change the dates to anytime later?

It is cheaper to buy one way flight first then buy return flight when ur in Bangkok?

Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?

Re: Cheapest Budget Airline to Bangkok

the cheapest i got is airasia when they are giving out free ticket, so u onli need to pay for taxes n surcharges, the nett price is S111.

u had to compare regularlly on the web for promotion. there are 3 budget airlines going bkk from sin, i think. airasia, jetstar n tiger. so far, i found jetstar is the most expensive one (maybe due to allocated seat). tiger n airasia is cheaper. u should be getting abt S140 for the cheaper price. anything more than there should be consider normal fare.

Because different airlines have different fees. Airasia has the lowest fees i think, with jetstarasia being the highest. Check on the sites often for the latest promotions, normally have to book @ least a month ahead to get the promo prices. Try different dates, once i booked 5 months ahead for a $0 ticket, after tax = 62 for a return ticket.

Is the return flight fixed or we could change the dates to anytime later?

Depends on your type of airline. Swissair has a return ticket for 1yr, rebooking allowed FREE, @ 248. Budget airlines do not allow rescheduling.

It is cheaper to buy one way flight first then buy return flight when ur in Bangkok?

Obviously not.

Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?
Not sure, but i think GM gives a good rate, last month b4 i touched bangkok , GM was at a rate of 22.82, and when i am in bangkok, i looked at a few places, all were at 22.67-22.65

IMHO, just change at GM.
hope this helps

tiger have allocated seats now? since when?

yup, jetstar really cannot make it even now with the promotion of $9 still more expensive than tiger which is selling at $9.90.

Re: Cheapest Budget Airline to Bangkok

Hi,
my opinion as below.

Example: Travel Period 25 Oct 07 - 31 Oct 07.

Tigerairways: Tax: $120, Ticket: $11.87, Bangkok Airport Tax: 700 baht ($31) Total: $163 (rounding off)

Jetstar: Tax: $128, Ticket: $18, No need to pay airport tax at BBK. Total: $146. (To save the $3 online charges, you can choose to pay at 7-11 or Singpost)

Airasia: Approximately $187, No Airport tax paid at BBK.

I used to fly with Tiger but changed to Jetstar cause the fare is cheaper, the seating is more comfortable (new compared to Tiger) and the timing for late flight arrived earlier than Tiger. (around 11pm compared to Tiger at 11.35pm)

You will not kanna midnight charges and most probably reach home before midnight. Airasia and Tigerairways flight mostly will be delayed at BBK airport (dunno why??) Jetstar more punctual.

Sometimes, tour agency may have packages cheaper than booking air tickets and hotel yourself online. (considering other factors like airport to hotel transfers etc.)

Hope this will help. Good day.

Re: Cheapest Budget Airline to Bangkok

the prices are not fixed, changes every now and then, drastically at times. airasia really got a huge issue in time. i kanna a few times. if late by one hour, its considered ok already. i kanna 2 hour before, twice.
pay less for lousy quality lo.But i prefer their flight staff to jetstar's or tiger's cos they employ thais who are friendlier than our own Singgies.
Singgies flight attendant either got too huge a ego to serve their own ppl willingly or they jus happen to be in a grouchy mood.
Sum say our gahmen played a very political part in airasia's poor time management...

in the past Airasia's schedules are always delayed. however recently i have no issues. in fact very punctual. maybe other bros can feedback.

one thing that is inconvenient about Airasia is you still have to take a bus to and fro between the terminal and plane at Suvarnabhumi airport.
