Hi all, could any travel gurus advise plssss?
Which is the cheapest budget airline to Bangkok from here?
I have compare a few but i still confuse as all prices are different taxes & surcharges...why?
Is it cheaper to buy from travel agents at Golden Mile complex there?
Is the return flight fixed or we could change the dates to anytime later?
It is cheaper to buy one way flight first then buy return flight when ur in Bangkok?
Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?

the cheapest i got is airasia when they are giving out free ticket, so u onli need to pay for taxes n surcharges, the nett price is S111.
u had to compare regularlly on the web for promotion. there are 3 budget airlines going bkk from sin, i think. airasia, jetstar n tiger. so far, i found jetstar is the most expensive one (maybe due to allocated seat). tiger n airasia is cheaper. u should be getting abt S140 for the cheaper price. anything more than there should be consider normal fare.

Because different airlines have different fees. Airasia has the lowest fees i think, with jetstarasia being the highest. Check on the sites often for the latest promotions, normally have to book @ least a month ahead to get the promo prices. Try different dates, once i booked 5 months ahead for a $0 ticket, after tax = 62 for a return ticket.
Is the return flight fixed or we could change the dates to anytime later?
Depends on your type of airline. Swissair has a return ticket for 1yr, rebooking allowed FREE, @ 248. Budget airlines do not allow rescheduling.
It is cheaper to buy one way flight first then buy return flight when ur in Bangkok?
Obviously not.
Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?
Not sure, but i think GM gives a good rate, last month b4 i touched bangkok , GM was at a rate of 22.82, and when i am in bangkok, i looked at a few places, all were at 22.67-22.65
IMHO, just change at GM.
hope this helps :D
Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?
Generally for travelling...it does not make much difference :)

yup, jetstar really cannot make it even now with the promotion of $9 still more expensive than tiger which is selling at $9.90.

Hi,
my opinion as below.
Example: Travel Period 25 Oct 07 - 31 Oct 07.
Tigerairways: Tax: $120, Ticket: $11.87, Bangkok Airport Tax: 700 baht ($31) Total: $163 (rounding off)
Jetstar: Tax: $128, Ticket: $18, No need to pay airport tax at BBK. Total: $146. (To save the $3 online charges, you can choose to pay at 7-11 or Singpost)
Airasia: Approximately $187, No Airport tax paid at BBK.
I used to fly with Tiger but changed to Jetstar cause the fare is cheaper, the seating is more comfortable (new compared to Tiger) and the timing for late flight arrived earlier than Tiger. (around 11pm compared to Tiger at 11.35pm)
You will not kanna midnight charges and most probably reach home before midnight. Airasia and Tigerairways flight mostly will be delayed at BBK airport (dunno why??) Jetstar more punctual.
Sometimes, tour agency may have packages cheaper than booking air tickets and hotel yourself online. (considering other factors like airport to hotel transfers etc.)
Hope this will help. Good day.
tiger airways still need to pay 700baht at bkk airport meh?
i thought all airlines include the airport tax at bkk from 1st feb liao?

the prices are not fixed, changes every now and then, drastically at times. airasia really got a huge issue in time. i kanna a few times. if late by one hour, its considered ok already. i kanna 2 hour before, twice.
pay less for lousy quality lo.But i prefer their flight staff to jetstar's or tiger's cos they employ thais who are friendlier than our own Singgies.
Singgies flight attendant either got too huge a ego to serve their own ppl willingly or they jus happen to be in a grouchy mood.
Sum say our gahmen played a very political part in airasia's poor time management...

in the past Airasia's schedules are always delayed. however recently i have no issues. in fact very punctual. maybe other bros can feedback.
one thing that is inconvenient about Airasia is you still have to take a bus to and fro between the terminal and plane at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Tks bros for ur valuable feedback!
i have been surfing the net on tiger (ard 150~170), airasia (ard 180) & jetstar (abt 200 - wtf), i find tiger has the lowest fares if u wan to book in short time but i notice in the papers the travel agents flight fare prices are much cheaper than internet (fr 128)...hmm any strings attached for these travel agents?
Anyone can advise which airline can let you change ur return flight to a later date or bring forward after you have booked the flight?
Also, is buying one way trip from Bkk to Sin in Thailand more cheaper?

bear in mind tigerairways doesnt include the 700thb departue tax. so add another extra ~27sgd into ur 150, doesnt make it much cheaper afterall.
and for travel agents in papers, see the clause below, they do not include tax and fee yet. wad's stated is purely the flight ticket only.
check out swissair, @ 248 u can change ur flight for free within a 1 yr period.

think now all inclusive liao. pls see below, extracted fm their t&c fm tiger
From 25th March onwards, local departure taxes will be pre-collected by the airline for departure from Vietnam, and the following Thailand airports - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Phuket.

got a ticket in june from tiger, 142 nett.
think those travel agents haven add on all the taxes n surcharges ... better ask clearly.
all allowed to change time but u can't choose the cheapest fare n think u had to add on some $$ for changing it. if u take normal airline then no charges, tried once with eva air from taipei to sin, no charges at all but must at least 48hrs before departure time.
dun think buyin oneway will be cheaper but u can try it out :)

Which is the cheapest budget airline to Bangkok from here?
Depends esp budget air, their pricing are like stocks.
I have compare a few but i still confuse as all prices are different taxes & surcharges...why?
Different airlines charges differently. U just take SQ charges with TG and compare the different.
Is it cheaper to buy from travel agents at Golden Mile complex there?
I buy all my tickets thru online.
Is the return flight fixed or we could change the dates to anytime later?
Budget air allows u to change date or time but u have to pay a penalty if u did not purchase the full fares.
It is cheaper to buy one way flight first then buy return flight when ur in Bangkok?
For budget air, no much different but for normal airline, 1 way ticket is abt 3/4 of return air fare.
Better to change rates in Singapore or when ur in Bangkok?
If u dun live near GM, n purposely go down just to change a few hundreds then it is not worth it. In MBK, there r a few money changers, I'm not talking abt the banks. These changers, their rates r good too. I normally change from a shop selling gold. Dunno the name. :D

Hi,
Like all the full service airlines, It's expensive to travel on the first flight on weekend (Fri & Sat). However, sometimes it's cheaper to travel with budget airlines on weekend when they have price promotion. I just booked an one way ticket to Bkk for weekend on next january. The tiger fare costs me S$19.19 plus other charges that amount to S$86. By looking at the limited supply & speculation the price of crude oil. I believe there will be another increase of sub-charge by the airlines very soon as SIA has just increased the fuel sub-charge last week. Cheers.

I think we also have to take into consideration the travel cost to and from airport as well as the timings of the flights you are taking.
Jetstar and Tiger's evening (630pm) flights are ideal for after work (maybe sneak off a bit early! :p) but Airasia give you more time with its 840pm flights
Jetstar and Tiger's first flight is 710am and 630am and to be on time , we'll have to start our journey before 6am. And taxi is the only option so midnite charge will come into consideration. If suay like me staying in the west , it can come up to S$30. I rather take AirAsia's 1055am flight where I can relax to take the MRT. Surprisingly , after the rush hour , it only takes 50mins to reach changi from Jurong West.
Coming back also is a headache as both Tiger and Jetstar arrives at 2330hrs and 0005hrs. By the time you clear customs , you'll hit the cabs at midnite charges. AirAsia arrives at 2005hrs ; plenty of time to catch a cab or MRT.
All in all , my favorite timings cost about S$20 more than Tiger or Jetstar but I save on midnite charge cab fare both ways which can go up to S$60
I dont really like the Fenandez guy coz he always whack Singapore but his flights are better!

Hi,
Heading to any destination on any date within the month of January is never a problem for me. As long the fare is reasonable, it will be fine with me. Now, I have to determine when is the right date to fly back to Sg. Cheers.
