Time to put some clothes on: Bule women drive through Bali streets in nothing but bikinis (and helmets)
http://deffe.com/images/2017/02/02/bikini_clad_motorbike_bule.jpg
If getting a tan and flaunting your stuff is more important to you than decency or heck, safety, then you probably need to check your priorities.
A picture posted to Facebook by Linda Abel shows some ladies riding their motorbikes through Bali traffic. Without any clothes on, just bikinis.
We can't help but be reminded of the time we compiled a collection of 8 times bules in Bali probably should have put more clothes on. This occasion is certainly worthy of that list.
As one commenter pointed out, at least they're wearing helmets?

Bad weather conditions on Wednesday resulted in the diversion of two Lion Air flights destined for Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport.
The first flight, JT 32 Jakarta-Denpasar, with a 10 am takeoff time, was diverted to Surbaya’s East Juanda Airport to wait out the storm and safer conditions in Bali.
The second Lion Air flight, IW 1821 Kupang-Denpasar, at 10:50 am, was diverted to Lombok.
Normal flight activities resumed again in Bali at about 11:50 am, despite steady showers, according to Nusa Bali.
Ngurah Rai spokesman Awaluddin confirmed the news on Wednesday.
“It’s true, two flights were diverted due to bad weather today. One from Jakarta and one from Kupang. But now flights are back to normal,” Awaluddin said yesterday, as quoted by Nusa Bali.
The day before, two flights from Bali to two different cities in Flores, had to turn back around and were rescheduled because of weather conditions.
The weather this past week has been exceptionally stormy in Bali, as we're right in the peak of rainy season, according to BMKG.

Bali tourists get out of taxi taking them way off course, driver steps on gas before they can get their stuff from the trunk
http://tryimg.com/8/2017/02/06/werln.jpg
A taxi driver has been arrested in Bali for making off with a trunk-full stuff belonging to his passengers.
Taxi driver Alfridus Tunais, 22, allegedly ditched his passengers, an Australian family, in Kuta on Tuesday with a reported Rp 300 million worth of stuff still in the taxi.
Amazingly enough, the Australian family reported the driver to the police and the police apprehended the man within hours.
Kuta Police Commissioner I Wayan Sumara explained that the Australian family of three were taking the taxi after shopping at Discovery Mall and were headed towards Mega Hotel Boutique on Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai. While they were driving, the driver apparently changed course and started heading towards Denpasar.
“The victims began to question the suspect. You see, the victims usually payed Rp 40k for this trip from the mall, but this time it was Rp 60k,” Sumara said in a press conference on Thursday afternoon, as quoted by Nusa Bali.
Feeling cheated, the family asked the driver to stop. Turns out they were all the way in south Denpasar on Jl. Tukad Yeh Aya. When the family moved to take their shopping from the trunk, the driver just stepped on the gas and fled, according to Sumara.
The family immediately reported the driver, who was tracked down to an address in Ungasan. Though he wasn’t in Ungasan, police say they found him hiding out in a boardinghouse nearby in Jimbaran.
From Tunais, police say they confiscated evidence in the form of two iPhone 6s, a Samsung Note, gold jewelry, and other valuables.
The driver is facing charges carrying up to five years in prison, according to Sumara.

The cheeky monkeys of Ubud Monkey Forest have done it again.
Earlier this month, a macaque pantsed a guy at the famous Bali tourist attraction. Now the Ubud monkeys seemed to have upped their mischief to a whole new level.
A gif going around on Bali social media shows a guy setting up for a typical tourist-type photo with outstretched arms and a monkey on his shoulder. But things get interesting when a second monkey hops on and starts pounding the first one…
The result is a whole lot of awkward stares and hysterical laughter.
http://tryimg.com/8/2017/02/06/weEvJ.jpg
And can we all just take a moment to appreciate this guy gaping in the background?

FPI leader Rizieq Shihab to face police questioning over pornography accusation related to sex scandal rumors
http://imgallery.avseesee.com/images/2017/02/08/30e0b9b701193419ebe7d13817b69b41.jpg
The leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab, has not been having a very good week so far. On top of being named a suspect by the West Java police for insulting the state ideology of Pancasila and founding father Sukarno, he’s also having to deal with rumors of a sex scandal after information, including audio recordings, photos and chat logs, was anonymously posted on Sunday purporting to detail his adulterous affair with a woman named Firza Hussein.
Rizieq and other FPI officials have dismissed the information as slanderous lies manufactured by his political enemies to destroy his reputation. But the truth about the rumors have now become a legal issue, as police have announced that they will be questioning Rizieq and Firza about the leaked information as part of an official investigation.
"Yes, for sure, we will definitely [question Rizieq and Firza about the case], then we will ask for information," said Jakarta Police spokesperson Argo Yuwono on Wednesday as quoted by Detik.
The legal justification for their investigation into the scandalous rumors is a criminal report, filed by the Anti-Pornography Student Alliance on Monday, which reported three sites (including a site titled “'baladacintarizieq”, which is believed to be the original spreader of the leaks) for hosting the highly explicit information about the alleged affair in violation of Indonesia’s Pornography Law and Information and Electronic Transaction Law (UU ITE).
Police deemed the report to have enough merit to warrant further investigation, which is why Rizieq and Firza will be questioned about it. They have not yet made clear if either of the two could be potential criminal suspects in the case.
Indonesian law prohibits both the creation and distribution of pornography. A somewhat similar sex scandal case, involving leaked information, infamously led to the imprisonment of musician Nazril “Ariel” Irham in 2010.
Firza was arrested by police on Tuesday, although not in relation to the sex scandal rumors, but for treason allegations. Firza was also one of the 11 people arrested on December 2 for her involvement in an alleged treason plot.

In what has become an annual tradition almost as old as the holiday itself, various cities throughout Indonesia have banned celebrations of Valentine’s Day tomorrow.
Most of the cities affected have specifically prohibited students from participating in the Western holiday associated with romance. Education Departments that have announced bans this year include those in Depok, Tangerang, Bogor, Semarang and Tasikmalaya. The West Java Education Department has also issued a blanket ban on Valentine’s Day celebrations in school.
Public Valentine’s celebrations have also been banned in Ambon with the justification that it could disturb the peace before the city’s mayoral election on Wednesday.
The Blitar branch of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) banned Valentine’s Day celebrations as haram, saying that it promotes negative things like sex, smoking and drinking, which is contrary to Muslim culture.
In addition to schools, the government of Sukabumi, West Java, has also banned nightclubs and hotels in the city from holding Valentine’s Day celebrations or even putting up Valentine’s “attributes” (sorry, Cupid), which they said could lead to immoral acts like prostitution and drug trafficking.
The only person we could find speaking up in defense of Valentine’s Day was Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi, who said he was surprised to see a letter from his city’s education department banning celebrations of the holiday in schools as it had not been coordinated with him.
Hendrar said he was surprised because Semarang has long been known as a very tolerant city, especially in terms of religious harmony, and that they did not adopt policies that could provoke or foster intolerance.

The cruel entertainment known as topeng monyet (literally masked monkey, in reference to the disturbing doll head masks they are often forced to wear) was not so long ago a common sight in Jakarta. Wearing chains around their necks and taught to do silly tricks, they often entertained small children who laughed at their antics.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc_7H1C-R58
But behind the masks, the monkeys suffered terrible abuse at the hands of their owners, who used incredibly inhumane training methods to teach them their tricks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a_dy5zS6-M
Fortunately, thanks in large part to a five-year campaign spearheaded by the Jakarta Animal Aid Foundation (JAAN), then Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo banned the practice in the capital back in 2013. The government rescued dozens of these monkeys and they’re now being rehabilitated so that they could eventually be returned to the wild.
Thanks to JAAN ‘s efforts, 62 of the monkey were released back into the wild in 2015.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owGE4GgczH4
Unfortunately, topeng monyet have only been banned in Jakarta and the practice continues in other parts of the country, including Bandung.
http://tryimg.com/8/2017/02/15/wA4cG.jpg
If you would like to support JAAN in their efforts to achieve a nationwide ban as well as rehabilitate former topeng monyet, you could consider donating to them through their “sponsor an ex-dancing monkey” program to help see these poor creatures returned to their rightful home.

One of the reasons that President Joko Widodo won the country’s top office is that he has sold himself as a true man of the people. a real regular ol’ Indonesian. As the mayor of Solo and later the governor of Jakarta, he was famous for his impromptu “blusukan” trips to talk with people on the streets, which is obviously not something he has been able to keep up as president of the country. But he still likes to use his social media accounts to document how real he is still keeping things.
Thus this post on Facebook from yesterday:

Weekend in Solo, after a visit to Yogyakarta and Magelang. Before watching a movie at Cinema 21 Solo Square on Saturday, I stopped at a store to buy a shirt.
Apparently, there is no rebate on the Lunar New Year. “Can I get a discount?” I asked the store cashier. “Can not, sir,” he replied.
No worries. The Rp 100,000 shirt is nevertheless comfortable to wear. At least I now have a replacement for my long-sleeved batik.
Happy Sunday.
Is there seriously a cashier in Indonesia that would deny the president a discount? And did Jokowi seriously ask for a discount on a Rp 100,000 shirt?
We’re just kidding, of course. We would never question the veracity of the president’s account, PR-friendly though it may be. After all, he has proven his common man credentials over and over again, like that time he flew economy to Singapore. Or the time he went looking for bargain electronics in Mangga Dua. Or that time he ordered kaki lima food for a cabinet meeting.
The real question is, will Jokowi’s new shirt cause another fashion trend like with his famous bomber jacket? Er… maybe not.

Indonesian Woman Implicated in Kim Jong-nam's Murder
http://img.beritasatu.com/cache/jakartaglobe/909x605-2/2017/02/2017-02-14T154026Z_1687506798_RC1D45A054D0_RTRMADP_3_NORTH KOREA-MALAYSIA-KIM1-1024x681.jpg
Jakarta. Siti Aishah, the Indonesian woman who was arrested in Malaysia for her alleged involvement in the murder of the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, claims that she was an unwitting accomplice.
Local police arrested Siti along with a Vietnamese woman and a Malaysian man two days after Kim Jong-nam was assassinated with what is believed to have been a fast-acting poison.
Siti says she was tricked into believing that she was merely playing a prank on Kim Jong-nam, in return for money, and that she was unaware of her actual role until her arrest.
House of Representatives Commission I, which oversees foreign affairs, will summon State Intelligence Agency (BIN) officials to provide further information on the investigation.
The Indonesian Foreign Ministry will also assist Siti in the investigation and coordinate with the Malaysian Police.
A North Korean national was also arrested in connection with the case in Selangor, Malaysia, on Friday evening (17/02). However, police have not revealed any details related to the arrest.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed on Thursday that Kim Jong-nam was assassinated.
The South Korean government has meanwhile accused North Korea of being responsible for the murder, claiming that Kim Jong-nam, who was protected by the Chinese government, was a known target.
However, there has so far been no concrete evidence connecting the North Korean leader with the murder of his half-brother. Pyongyang has also declined to comment.
A source in Beijing with ties to both the North Korean and Chinese governments told Reuters that North Korea was not involved in the killing and had no motive.
Kim Jong-nam went into exile after Kim Jong-un became the supreme leader of North Korea.

The four richest Indonesians are wealthier than the poorest 100 million people in the country, a study has found, highlighting how huge numbers have been left behind as the economy booms.
Oxfam said that President Joko Widodo had failed to fulfil pledges to fight inequality and called on the government to urgently increase spending on public services and make corporations and the wealthy pay more tax.
Indonesia has enjoyed an economic boom that has reduced the number of people living in extreme poverty but the gap between rich and poor has risen faster than in any other Southeast Asian country in the past 20 years, the Oxfam study said.
“The benefits of growth have not been shared equally, and millions have been left behind,” said the research, which was released earlier this week.
“The widening of the gap between the rich and the rest is a serious threat to Indonesia’s future prosperity. If inequality is not tackled, then reducing poverty will be much more difficult, and social instability could increase.”
In 2016, the collective wealth of the four richest Indonesians, all men, was $25 billion, Oxfam said. This was more than the total wealth of the 100 million poorest, out of a population of 255 million, it said.
According to Forbes rich list, the wealthiest included three tobacco tycoons — brothers Michael and Budi Hartono, and Susilo Wonowidjojo.
The study said inequality has been rising since the 1997 Asian financial crisis, which led to the introduction of more free market policies.
This shift allowed those at the top to capture the greatest share of the benefits of years of strong growth, it said. The study pointed to rising inequality within cities, and between urban and rural areas.
Oxfam said Indonesia’s taxation system had failed to play a role in redistributing wealth as it was not collecting nearly as much revenue as it should, while an underfunded education system was stopping many from getting better jobs.
In January the government launched a major programme to tackle inequality that included measures aimed at helping poor farmers and fishermen, improving the tax system and providing more opportunities for vocational training.

Brave Jakarta sanitation workers dive into pools of shit to unclog drains jammed with trash
http://www.showmyimage.com/images/2017/02/28/jaSVefm.png
It should go without saying that, no matter what preventative measures the government builds to keep Jakarta from flooding, it will all be for nothing if the citizens don’t play their part in keeping the city clean, particularly its drains.
Yesterday, we saw the most widespread flooding in the capital for about two years, which many would say was caused by a prolonged period of heavy rainfall.
But we can’t help thinking that much of the flooding in Jakarta could be avoided if we had all learnt our lesson from previous floods. Specifically, that litter can quickly clog up drains, which are obviously essential to getting water off the streets and preventing flooding.
But it seems many Jakartans remain ignorant of that basic fact, or simply do not care, as a couple of viral videos have emerged showing just how badly clogged some of our drains are. So bad, in fact, that some of brave souls in our city’s sanitation department have to dive into pools of shit (quite literally) to unclog drains from litter.
As horrifying as it is that somebody has to do such an unimaginably unpleasant job (which we respect them immensely for doing) it’s at least reassuring to see that both videos have gone viral on social media, with the first one in particular having been viewed over one million times and shared over 25 thousand times in less than 24 hours. Perhaps some people care about keeping Jakarta clean after all.
But sharing that video isn’t going to help unless it convinces people to stop littering, and convinces them to try and convince others to stop littering as well. Otherwise these low-income sanitation workers (who, in both videos, aren’t even equipped with basic protective equipment such as goggles when they dived into the black, murky water) will have to keep doing our dirty work for us.

Man wearing nothing but koteka (penis sheath) climbs huge Jakarta billboard to protest against organ trafficking
http://img4.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/23722/237222448af7725a970c3f2e7775476efe02fe30.jpg
Not much was known about the daring billboard climber, other than the fact that he was holding an Indonesian flag and that he was wearing nothing but a koteka, which is a traditional Papuan penis sheath. He also unfurled banners that seemingly protest against organ trafficking.
A photo taken from another angle shows more banners that give more clues as to who he is. We can gather from this picture posted on Pasangmata.com that he’s protesting about some kind of injustice committed by authorities on the island of Adonara, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
There is currently no update as to the man’s identity and whether or not he has come down from the billboard.
However, this incident is strikingly similar to one that happened on December 9, 2016. Back then, a man named Agustinus Woro aka Martinus from NTT scaled a huge billboard in Grogol (very close to Slipi) and unfurled a banner that also protested against organ trafficking.
After he eventually came down, Martinus told the media that he was specifically protesting about the death of his 17-year-old nephew in NTT. According to him, authorities ruled that his nephew died in a accident, but Martinus believes that he was a victim of something more sinister because there was no evidence that his nephew actually died in a motorcycle accident.

After dominating Bali headlines for the past week, Saudi Arabian King Salman has wrapped up his holiday in Bali.
The king left Bali on Sunday, flying on to Japan for an eight-day vacation in one of the world’s most famous tourist resorts. The day before, 16.6 tons of cargo were flown out to Japan from Bali on a Saudi plane.
The royal’s departure shut down Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport for a reported 45 minutes, delaying 18 flights, according to Antara. His arrival had similarly caused delays.
“Thirteen of those flights were domestic flights, while the remaining five were international,” Ngurah Rai spokesman Arie Ahsanurrohim said on Sunday.
The king and an entourage of more than 1,000 came to Bali on March 4 following a trip to Jakarta for a state visit during the king’s Asian tour.
The group was spread out across luxury hotels in the island’s south, including the Mulia, The Laguna, Bulgari in Uluwatu, and the St. Regis, where King Salman himself was staying.

Indonesia’s only province to impose sharia law caned Buddhists for the first time Friday, after two men accused of cockfighting opted for punishment under the strict Islamic regulations.
Alem bin Suhadi, 57, and Amel bin Akim, 60, both ethnic Chinese and members of the Buddhist minority, were whipped in front of dozens of local officials and residents in the city of Jantho, Aceh province.
The two men grimaced as they received nine and seven lashes respectively on their backs, a sentence that was mitigated because they had spent over a month in detention since police nabbed them for cockfighting in Aceh Besar in January.
“When they were arrested, two chickens and Rp 400,000 of betting money were confiscated by the police,” said prosecutor Rivandi Aziz.
Caning is common in Aceh for breaking the province’s strict Islamic laws, for offenses ranging from drinking alcohol to gambling to gay sex.
In the past, only Muslim residents could be caned but that changed in 2015 when Aceh’s regulations were overhauled.
Non-Muslims who violate Islamic law can either choose to be tried under the national legal system or sharia.
The two Buddhists would likely have faced jail under Indonesian nation law.
“We live in Aceh, so we have to obey the regulation in our region,” Alem told AFP shortly after being caned.
A Muslim was also lashed seven times for betting on cockfights Friday, while another man accused of abusing three teenagers was lashed 112 times.
Aceh, on Sumatra island, began implementing sharia law after being granted special autonomy in 2001, an attempt by the central government in Jakarta to quell a long-running separatist insurgency.
Islamic laws have been strengthened since the province struck a peace deal with Jakarta in 2005.

Semarang (ANTARA News) - Malaysia and Singapore are transit countries for illicit drugs smuggled into Indonesia, according to Chief of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Commissioner General Police Budi Waseso.
"The fact is that narcotics from various countries to be smuggled into Indonesia make transits in the two countries first," he stated here, recently.
At least 11 countries have supplied illicit drugs to Indonesia, Waseso noted.
More than 60 types of drugs have entered Indonesia.
Waseso expressed disappointment over the fact that illicit drugs could easily be smuggled into Indonesia from these two neighboring countries.
"I am annoyed to such an extent that I am reluctant to establish cooperation with Malaysia and Singapore. There is no point in establishing cooperation, if it offers no benefits," he emphasized.
Drug traffickers have targeted Indonesian students to destroy the countrys younger generation.
Central Java and Yogyakarta are categorized as regions prone to drug abuse.
"The market share is big, particularly Yogyakarta, as a city of students," he remarked.
Indonesia views drug abuse as a real threat, as the country has about four million drug users.
According to the BNN data, drug abuse is the cause of 33 deaths every day in Indonesia, mostly young men.
Indonesia is one of the few countries to have imposed the harshest drug laws in the world. The country had executed 14 drug convicts in 2015 and four last year.
President Joko Widodo had declared that Indonesia was in a state of drug emergency and vowed to not grant clemency to drug convicts despite protests from several countries and parties at home.
Last year, the BNN had dealt with 807 illicit drug cases across Indonesia and arrested a total of 1,238 people, including 21 foreigners. The agency also confiscated 6.2 tons of dried hashish, 1.16 tons of methamphetamine, and 765 thousand ecstasy pills.

Bali Police is launching an app to make themselves more accessible in the event of a crime, traffic accident, emergency, or any other situation where you would need to get in touch with the police.
Instead of going all the way to a police station, app users can directly submit reports to police and can even track the progress of their reports through the app, according to Bali Police Information Technology Commissioner, I Gusti Gede Harnawa Pasimpangan.
At the moment, the app, called ‘Salak Bali’ (Bali Police Service Application System), doesn’t appear to be available for Apple users in Indonesia, but can be found in the Android store.
Hopefully that will change, as Pasimpangan just said on Tuesday that the app hadn’t even officially launched (though Coconuts Bali was able to access it in the Android store).

The two-year-old boy who became an international sensation after he was found chain smoking in a remote village has kicked the habit, lost weight and is now the "champion" of his primary school.
Aldi Rizal shot to fame in 2010 after he was discovered in a poor village in Sumatra, Indonesia, puffing 40 cigarettes a day while riding his tricycle.
Just two years later the little boy managed to quit with the help of the Indonesian government providing special rehabilitation, but he replaced his smoking addiction with food and drastically gained weight.
Now, at nine-years-old, Aldi has managed to keep away from cigarettes, lose weight and excel at school.

World`s `oldest person` who outlived 4 wives and claimed to be 146 years old dies in Indonesia
94792
A man who claimed to be 146 years old and outlived all four of his wives has died in Indonesia.
Saparman Sodimejo, also known as Mbah Ghoto, had an Indonesian ID card that claimed his date of birth was December 31, 1870.
But whether or not he will ever be listed as the world"s oldest man is open to question, since the paperwork has so far not been independently verified.
A heavy smoker, when asked last year about the key to his longevity, he said that patience was key and that he had enjoyed a long life because he had people who loved him that looked after him.
If his birth date is correct, it would mean that he was born in the same year as the Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin and a year after the Suez Canal opened.
He will have lived through two world wars, resulting in the Japanese invasion of the Dutch East Indies, with seven British monarchs reigning in his lifetime.
His remarkable life experiences made him a great story-teller in the village, with wars against Japan and Dutch colonisers making him a hero in his village.
He passed away in his village in the Seragaen district of Central Java, Indonesia and a funeral took place today.

Photo was taken to hospital in early April due to deteriorating health but six days later checked himself out and returned home.
His grandson Suyanto told the BBC: "Since he came back from the hospital, he only ate spoonfuls of porridge and drank very little.
"It only lasted a couple of days. From that moment on to his death, he refused to eat and drink."
In December, he celebrated his birthday with his relatives.
Attending his party were his grandson Suryanto and wife Suwarni, with their children Erika Kurniawati and Anisa Kurniawati, among other younger surviving relatives.
9479694798
Unsurprisingly, he had outlived all 10 of his siblings as well as his four wives, the last of whom died in 1988. All of his children have also died.
If his documents are correct, his age of 146 made him significantly older than the verified oldest person in the world ever, a title that belongs to French woman Jeanne Calment, who lived to be 122.
Scientists are likely to question whether his claim could be possible with a study conducted last year claiming that the natural limit to human life is no more than 125 years.Researchers led by Jan Vijg of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, concluded that there was an age limit beyond which humans just cannot pass naturally.
Suryanto said last year that his grandfather had been preparing for his death ever since he was 122, but it never seemed to come.
He said: "The gravestone there was made in 1992. That was 24 years ago."
94797
If his documents are correct, his age of 146 made him significantly older than the verified oldest person in the world ever, a title that belongs to French woman Jeanne Calment, who lived to be 122
In addition, Suryanto said Mbah Ghoto"s family had already prepared a gravesite for him - near his children"s graves.
Staff at the Indonesian records office have confirmed Mbah Gotho"s birthdate, which is specified on his Indonesian ID card as 31st December 1870.
Others without verifiable records who are purportedly older than Mbah Ghoto include 171-year-old James Olofintuyi from Nigeria and 163-year-old Dhaqabo Ebba from Ethiopia.

Underage children driving motorized vehicles is unfortunately a very common sight in Indonesia, but one kid in the city of Bandung, West Java took it to a whole new level of wrongness by taking the steering wheel of angkot public transport minivan.
Yesterday, a Bandung netizen took a photo of a kid he described as “not even 15 years old” behind the wheel of an angkot minivan. A local radio station was mentioned in the tweet and the photo soon went viral on social media.
While it’s difficult to determine the kid’s exact age, it’s clear that he can barely see over the steering wheel, which could mean that he could be significantly younger than 15 (assuming he doesn’t suffer from stunted growth or something similar).
Netizens condemned authorities for letting a clearly underage child drive an angkot minivan, while others said they had also seen underage angkot drivers elsewhere in Bandung.
Bandung’s Transportation Agency confirmed the credibility of the photo.
“This is a heavy blow for the Transportation Agency and all transportation stakeholders who are trying to improve the reputation of public transportation,” said Didi Ruswandi, head of Bandung’s Transportation Agency, as quoted by Detik today.
The identity of the child driver is not known, but Didi said that the agency is going to fine the actual driver of the angkot that presumably allowed the kid to drive.
Angkot minivans are a cheap public transportation option in Indonesia. Many of the vans are shoddy and the drivers are reckless and rarely observe traffic laws. They will often stop in the middle of the road to pick up or drop off passengers.
In order to keep the wheels turning and make more money, it’s common practice for angkot drivers to let others – friends, relatives – drive their minivans while they’re off duty. Often, the substitute drivers don’t have the required licenses, as is apparent in the case of this underage driver.
Despite their glaring problems, angkots continue to be in high demand while many regional governments, including West Java, do little to improve their quality. Meanwhile, ride-sharing apps, which provide a much needed alternative means of transportation to angkots and other woefully insufficient public transportation options, are still in regulation limbo after Bandung officials said they would be banned.

Police in Bali are investigating a man, alleged to be German, who is widely known across virtual porn communities for recording ‘sex diaries’ in the region.
An entry apparently in Bali, entitled ‘Asd Ria From Bali’ (Asd meaning Asian Sex Diary), prompted the investigation.
The nearly 45-minute-long video that has reportedly already garnered tens of thousands of views since it was posted last week shows the notorious bule, ‘John Tron,’ having sex with a young woman who he identifies as Ria. Scenes show Tron picking up Ria—who is said to be just 18 years old—at a restaurant and bringing her back to his hotel. The location in the video is believed to be Sanur.
Police say they have tracked down the identity of the woman in the video, but have not made any arrests.
The IP address used to post the video was traced to Germany, so police say they believe the bule is likely German.
Bali Police spokesman Superintendent Hengky Widjaja told reporters that police are also investigating the hosting site itself for the porn video, which local paper Tribun Bali hilariously censored the name of, publishing it as ‘Po**g*n’.
The spokesman added that people should not download or help spread the video under investigation, because doing so is a criminal offense in Indonesia under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law.
Downloading or spreading the material could be punishable with a six-year jail term or a fine of Rp 3 billion, Widjaja said.

A Singaporean tourist reportedly flung himself from the fifth floor of his hotel in Legian, Bali after consuming magic mushrooms.
The 23-year-old was allegedly hallucinating from the ‘shrooms’ when he jumped to his death in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 2am.
The young man’s friend tried to hold him back from jumping, but lost control and the victim broke free, police told local reporters.
The Singaporean died on the spot from the fall. His body was evacuated to BIMC Hospital, according to police.
Kuta Police Commissioner Wayan Sumara says the victim, who was a student, died instantly from the fall.
The victim’s friend, who was apparently a fellow classmate, said they had purchased a magic mushroom drink outside their hotel on Saturday evening. The victim mixed his mushrooms with orange juice, while his friend used chocolate as a mixer.
Not long after, the victim said he wanted to get out and jump, but his friend tried to hold him down and prevent him from going anywhere, police said.
“The witness lost hold on the victim, who immediately jumped into the back alley of the Akmani Hotel,” Sumara said, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
A security guard said he heard a crashing sound around 2:15 am.
“After 30 minutes, an ambulance came and immediately took him. His friend admitted to drinking mushrooms,” the security guard told Tribun.
The Singaporeans had arrived in Bali on May 5 and had planned to check out at noon on May 7.
Police say they are still investigating the case.
Denpasar Police Commissioner Hadi Purnomo said that law enforcement has been taking efforts to eradicate the magic mushroom trade in Bali, but it’s been ‘quite tricky.’
“We have made various efforts, making raids and so forth,” Purnomo said.
Police had previously been ‘tolerant’ towards magic mushrooms in Bali, but clamped down in 2014, as shrooms were re-classified as type 1 narcotics, making them criminal.

A coronial inquest is investigating the gruesome death of an Indonesian transgender sex worker who was killed and dismembered.
It will seek to determine when, where, and how Mayang Prasetyo was brutally killed, allegedly by her partner Marcus Volke, 27, who then committed suicide.
The chef boyfriend fled the scene soon after police found the woman"s remains in their Brisbane apartment in October 2014.
96907
Volke attempted to dispose of the 27-year-old victim"s remains by boiling them on the stove in their upmarket Teneriffe unit, police said at the time.
He then fled the building after officers arrived and hid in a nearby industrial bin, where he took his own life.
Coroner Terry Ryan is scheduled to hear evidence over three days from Monday, before delivering findings on when, where and how Ms Mayang died and what caused her death.
He is also tasked with determining Volke"s cause of death, and whether the police officers who attempted to locate and detain him complied with Queensland Police policy and procedure.
96908
The alleged murder-suicide was treated as a domestic violence situation that escalated, with police saying they had recovered a murder weapon from Volke.
The crime scene, which took authorities four days to clean up, was particularly disturbing, according to police.
It included rubber gloves, bleach, a "squelching" carpet, a vomit-inducing smell, and a "massive" cooking pot on the stove.
96909
The death of Ms Mayang, who worked as a high-class escort to support her family in Indonesia and put her two sisters through school, sent shock waves across Australia and around the world.
Friends and mourners who gathered for a candlelit vigil in New Farm Park soon after the death of the woman, who was born Febri Andriansyah, said her story had resonated with Brisbane"s transgender community.
Readers seeking support and information about suicide prevention can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.

An Indonesian pilot has been suspended after allegedly showing up for work drunk before trying to fly a plane with 154 passengers onboard.
Video has emerged purportedly showing Capt. Tekad Purna, a pilot for Indonesian low-cost airline Citilink, stumbling and repeatedly dropping his belongings as he went through security at Surabaya airport on Wednesday morning.
As the pilot arrives at the checkpoint wearing dark sunglasses, he drops his hat on the floor, then dumps his bag on the conveyor belt before walking through the body scanner.
As he goes to collect his bag, it tips upside down and his belongings fall on the floor.
97295
One of the three security workers at the checkpoint helps pick up his things and put them back in the pilot’s bag while he holds his sunglasses in his mouth.
The pilot waves and goes to leave but then his glasses fall on the floor and appear to break. Another security worker collects the pieces and hands them back to the pilot before he is free to leave.
The pilot is believed to have made it as far as the cockpit before he was replaced by another captain when many passengers staged a walk off, the Jakarta Post reports.
The travellers were reportedly alerted to his alleged state of intoxication when he made an incoherent flight announcement while preparing for take off.
9729697297
A passenger has posted a video of the alleged incoherent announcement online which shows people onboard the plane looking confused.
The 1 hour 20 minute flight was due to take off from Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, East Java, and was bound for Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
Citilink’s President Director Albert Burhan said, in a statement on Thursday evening: ‘Citilink is very serious about handling this matter. The pilot in question has been suspended until the ongoing investigation is completed.’
The airline confirmed he had appeared ‘physically unfit’ but the final results of a medical check will be issued in a week.

Prosecutors in Bali demand 13-year sentence for Singaporean techno DJ over cocaine smuggling via postal service
http://tryimg.com/8/2017/05/19/iHyW1.jpg
Bali prosecutors are demanding a 13-year prison sentence for a Singaporean techno DJ on trial over trying to smuggle cocaine through postal service.
In addition to the jail time, prosecutors are also pushing for a fine of Rp 1 billion (or six extra months) for 32-year-old Muhammad Faliq Bin Nordin.
“The defendant is legitimately and convincingly guilty of committing an offense in violation of the law with a class I drug over five grams,” prosecutor Dewa Gede Ngurah Sastradi said in Denpasar District Court on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara Bali.
Prosecutors say the Singaporean deserves a heavy punishment because his actions were contrary to intensified efforts by the government to eradicate drug abuse in Bali.
In his trial, it was revealed that Nordin took two parcels from the Netherlands on September 10, 2016 from a post office in Renon, Denpasar. The recipient had actually been marked as Kobu Raum Dekodex, with an address in Sanur. Both packages had different senders, but both from the Netherlands.
Nordin came to the post office with a letter indicating that Kobu Raum gave him permission to pick-up the package, Bali customs told reporters after the Singaporean’s arrest.
Raum had apparently been working as a DJ in Bali several months prior to his arrest. Spinning under the name FAL:X, the DJ is attached to renowned techno labels such as Italo Business and Cobb Recordings, and has played in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines aside from regular stints in a number of clubs back in his home country.

The holy fasting month of Ramadan is expected to begin on May 27, and with it, the expected closure of many of Jakarta’s nightlife establishments.
Speaking to Kompas, Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency secretary Jeje Nujarman announced that the city government would close night clubs (or “diskoteks” as the old-fashioned local media still call them), spas, massage parlors, and bars throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
“Mandatory closure from one day before Ramadan, during the month of Ramadan, during Eid a-Fitr, and one day after Eid al-Fitr,” Jeje told Kompas today.
The argument used to justify the closures, as it has always been every year, is to respect and not disturb Muslims from focusing on worship during the holy month.
However, there are a few exceptions. “Diskoteks” inside hotels rated 4-stars or more and which are located in a commercial area far away from houses, mosques, schools, and hospitals, may remain open.
Others, such as karaoke joints and bars with live music and/or pool tables will have their operating hours limited to 8:30pm – 1:30am.
Displays of eroticism or sensuality are still prohibited in places that remain open under the agency’s regulation, which explains why Hooters Jakarta has promised that their servers will dress more modestly (no orange short shorts) during Ramadan.
http://tryimg.com/8/2017/05/19/iHCYa.jpg
The regulation was approved by the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency head on May 16.

Indonesian police have arrested dozens of men accused of holding a "gay sex party" at a gym and sauna in the capital Jakarta.
Officers raided a venue called Atlantis in the late hours of Sunday and halted an event they dubbed "The Wild One", arresting 141 men including one Briton and one Singaporean.
While homosexuality is legal everywhere in Indonesia except conservative Aech province, which is ruled by Sharia law, police said up to 10 men could be charged under the country"s harsh pornography laws.
The arrests mark the country's latest crackdown on the LGBT community after a similar raid in Surabaya, the second largest city, earlier this month.
98588
A 20-year-old and his 23-year-old partner were also sentenced to 85 lashes each for having gay sex in Aech province after being found in bed together back in March.
Speaking about the latest raid, a police spokesman said: "Our officers did an undercover investigation and raided the place on Sunday."
Pictures circulating online showed topless men sitting crammed in a room next to gym equipment after the police raid.
The men facing charges include the alleged organisers of the event as well as men suspected of being prostitutes and striptease dancers.
Those found guilty of breaking the laws face up to 10 years in jail.
The other detained men are still being questioned by police as potential witnesses in the case, the detective said.
Since last year, ministers, hardliners and influential Islamic groups in Indonesia have been lining up to publicly denounce homosexuality.
98589
The arrests come after a similar raid in Indonesia's second city of Surabaya earlier this month, in which 14 men were arrested over another "gay party" and forced to take HIV tests
98590
Two men in Aceh province, which incorporates Sharia into its legal system, were sentenced to 85 lashes each earlier this month after a vigilante group caught them having gay sex

In what is the exact opposite of the peaceful spirit of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, a viral video showing a group of kids singing about hatred and violence in Jakarta has raised concerns about the rise of extremism among today’s youth.
The video shows a group of kids holding a raucous parade to welcome Ramadan while chanting, “Kill! Kill! Kill Ahok! Kill Ahok right now!” in reference to former Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, a minority ethnic Chinese and Christian who was recently sentenced to two years in jail for committing blasphemy against Islam.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF8LWl_sbMM
The local media believes that the video was taken on Wednesday in the Kampung Melayu neighborhood of East Jakarta, the same neighborhood in which twin suicide bombings killed 3 police officers and left 12 wounded on Thursday evening in an attack which has since been claimed by the Islamic State terrorist group.
The kids’ chant is disturbingly similar to those sung by members of hardline Islamic groups like the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), who literally called for Ahok’s head in previous religious rallies against the then-governor.
The viral video seems to back up a recent study by the Setara Institute, who found that, out of a sample of 760 public high school students in Jakarta and neighboring city Bandung, 11% believe that an Islamic caliphate is the best form of government.
“There was also 1% of respondents who supported what ISIS is fighting for. There was even 0.4% who supported acts of terrorism,” said Setara Institute researcher Aminuddin Syarif, as quoted by CNN Indonesia today.
The National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) also noted that identity politics has increasingly become a justification for bullying in schools throughout Indonesia recently. They believe that part of the reason for this is that many parents take their kids along with them to religiously motivated political rallies.
“It’s not rare that kids are involved in rallies even though they don’t actually understand what’s going on,” Komnas PA head Arist Merdeka Sirait said, as quoted by CNN Indonesia.
Arist called on parents, teachers and religious leaders to prevent the seeds of radicalism and intolerance from being implanted into Indonesia’s children.

Love can be a powerful thing. As pointed proof of that, we offer up this story of a Taiwanese man who was willing to part with the tip of his manhood to marry the Indonesian woman he loves.
We’ve seen countless stories in the local Indonesian media about foreigners giving up a lot to be with the love of their lives in Indonesia, but this man’s forsaking of his foreskin ranks among the most valiant of them all.
Jayanti, a 23-year-old resident of Cirebon, West Java, tied the knot with 34-year-old Taiwanese man Zhou Hong Ze in her home village yesterday. Jayanti was a domestic helper in Taiwan, who worked as Hong Ze’s father’s personal caregiver. Meanwhile, the media described Hong Ze as “a rich Taiwanese who owns four companies.”
“We met on January 27, 2017. We were set up by my employer,” Jayanti said after the wedding, as quoted by JPNN.
From there, the couple apparently fell hard and fast in love.
Three months after they first met, the couple agreed to get married. However, Jayanti gave Hong Ze a couple of conditions: that they wed according to her culture’s customs, and for him to adopt Islam and the requirements that go with it, including circumcision for males.
Affirming his commitment to Jayanti, Hong Ze officially converted to Islam on Monday. On Wednesday, the couple was paraded on horseback around Jayanti’s village, attracting much local attention. Later that day, Hong Ze underwent the religious snipping procedure.

After officially becoming husband and wife yesterday, it’s hard to imagine the newlyweds will be consummating their marriage anytime soon. After all, the predicted recovery time for circumcision for an adult is around 2-3 weeks.
What a keeper this Hong Ze fella has proven himself to be. Here’s hoping that the newlyweds find eternal happiness together.

Actually its no big deal converting to Islam or having a Muslim name lah. I have some frds who "converted" to Islam but also never adhere to the practice.
As for circumcision also no big deal lah. Nowadays quite common to have one fore skin cut for hygene reason.

Every year, more and more foreign tourists seem to come to Bali and the following year, the government always ups the target to get that number higher and higher.
For instance, Bali’s target for 2016 had been set at 4.4 million foreign tourist arrivals, a number that the island managed to surpass in just November 2016.
So for 2017, the government is hoping Bali will bring in 40 percent of the national target of 15 million foreign tourists to Indonesia (that’s a hefty six million for those of you who hate math).
With its chunk of 40 percent of the target, it probably comes as no surprise that Bali’s got the highest expectations for raking in tourist numbers from across the country.
"Bali is still number one compared to the other regions in Indonesia," assistant deputy for Tourism Human Resource Development, Wisnu Bawa Tarunajaya said on Saturday, as quoted by Antara Bali.
Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta’s got a goal of 30 percent, followed by Sumatra’s Batam at 20 percent, says Tarunajaya.
To attract foreign tourists to other parts of the country, the government apparently has plans to develop additional tourist destinations, including Sumatra’s Lake Toba, Tanjung Klayang in Bangka-Belitung province, Thousand Islands in Jakarta, and Tanjung Lesung in Banten province, West Java. Other potentials are Mandalika in Lombok, Labuhan Bajo in Flores, Wakatobi in Sulawesi, and Morotai in Maluku.

UMP Indonesia 2017 – Provincial Minimum Wage
The Indonesian provinces have been releasing the minimum required monthly wages for the year 2017. These are called the UMP Indonesia and the UMK Bali.
98241
UMP stands for “Upah Minimum Provinsi” or Provincial Minimum Wage. Indonesia has 34 provinces. A province is the highest level of the local government divisions in Indonesia. Each province sets their own UMP or minimum wage.
UMK stands for “Upah Minimum Kabupaten/Kota” or Regency/City Minimum Wage. Every province has its own regencies for which Bali has nine.
The UMP and UMK for the year 2017 are calculated by the annual inflation and growth of the economy.
For this year the inflation fee is calculated at 3.07% and the growth of the economy at 5.18%. That gives a minimum raise of 8.25% to 2016.
Ultimately, the minimum wage of the regencies (Denpasar, Tabanan …) should be higher than the minimum wage of the province (Bali).
The minimum wage is based on 40 hours of work per week and can either be;
7 hours per day and 40 hours per week for 6 days of work per week.
8 hours per day and 40 hours per week for 5 days of work per week.
UMP Indonesia 2017 – Provincial Minimum Wage.

Stretched like a girdle around the earth between Papua New Guinea to the east, and out past Malaysia on the western end, Indonesia’s 255 million people make it the world’s fourth most populous country and – with its enormous agricultural productivity and mineral wealth – one of the most bountiful too. Despite this, Nusantara (as many Indonesians still call the archipelago) regularly fails to punch at its weight on the world stage. So, to rectify the planet’s attention deficit, we’ve compiled random 19 things you ought to know about the 18,000 island nation.
1. Its capital, Jakarta, tweets more than any other city on earth.
2. Indonesians have a talent for confecting fuzzy philosophies, phrases and words that can be turned to any purpose. Perintis boats, for example, mean ‘pioneer’ vessels, which is a polite way of saying the boat is going to nowhere anybody wants.
3. Rice in Indonesia goes from being padi in the field, to beras at the market and nasi on the plate.
4. Greater Jakarta is home to more than 30 million people, the second largest urban settlement in the world after Greater Tokyo.
102027
5. There are different verbs for killing different animals. Buffalo and pigs are slashed (potong), if chickens are killed for omen-checking they’re parted (belah), whereas dogs are bludgeoned (pukul).
6. The Venetian merchant Marco Polo was the first European on record to visit Indonesia in 1292.
7. Strangers often address one another in kinship terms. Ibu for mother, shortened to ‘bu’, bapak for father, shortened to ‘pak’, mbak for young lady, and finally mas for young man.
8. Government likes to convert beauty spots into obyek wisata (objects of tourist interest), covering areas with concrete, tables and archways.
9. Few Indonesians emigrate, instead most migrate within Indonesia, and these are mostly Javanese.
10. Indonesians usually refer to their colouring in coffee-based terms (hitam manis = black with sugar, kopi susu = milky coffee).
102028
11. One of most decentralized countries in the world, thanks to President Habibie, fearing Aceh and Papua would go the same way as East Timor (i.e. towards independence), Indonesian power typically bypasses provincial-level government.
12. Visitors may hear people referring to the ‘four D’s’. It’s a phrase that’s usually used when describing the attitude of those in government and stands for: Datang, Duduk, Diam and Duit (Show up, sit down, shut up and collect your salary). There’s also the UUD, an an acronym that can either refer to the constitution (undang undang dasar) or, rather darkly mean that ‘it’s all about the money’ (ujung ujungnya duit).
13. Public transport often lacks a departure time in Indonesia, instead it leaves when there are enough passengers to make a profit.
14. Indonesia contains around 120 active volcanoes.
102029
15. Hobbits used to live in Indonesia. Or at least the rather undersized Homo Floriensis – a species of man that once flourished alongside Homo Erectus.
16. Indonesians are typically optimistic. ‘Kami di manja bumi’ is an oft’ repeated phrase meaning that Mother Earth has spoiled the people.
17. Indonesia has more known gold reserves than anywhere else on the planet.
http://www.mining.com/web/worlds-top-10-gold-deposits/
18. Indonesia is one of few countries in the world to adopt neither the language of its former colonial power (Dutch) or its largest or most powerful group of speakers (Javanese), instead adopting a trader’s form of Malay, now known as Bahasa Indonesia. A mother tongue, only 20 percent speak it at home, with people usually preferring to use local dialects instead.
19. The temple of Borobudur in Java is the largest Buddhist monument in the world. Topped with stupa and resembling a nine-tiered mountain, the 9th century masterpiece is still used for pilgrimages today.

Cop under investigation for alleged sexual assault of 13-year-old pregnant gangrape victim
103079
The police are supposed to serve and protect, but there are unfortunately those who choose to use their power to abuse the very people they are supposed to protect.
The Jakarta Metro Police say they are investigating a case involving an officer, identified Brigadier H of the Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands) sub-precinct, who they say is a suspect in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
“The suspect has been interrogated and will be detained,” said Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
Raden added that it’s likely that H will face internal sanctions from the force as well as being punished in accordance to the law.
The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), who is also overseeing the case, say the teen victim’s woes began on March 13, when she was gangraped by eight men.
The victim and her family were at first scared about reporting the incident to the police, but they eventually did so on July 13 when it became apparent that the victim was pregnant as a result of the sexual abuse she suffered.
“Coincidentally, H is the victim’s neighbor, so he said he would take the victim to the North Jakarta precinct and the KPAI (The National Commission for Child Protection),” said Elang Yayan, head of the Law and Public Relations Division at Kontras.
Instead, H took the victim to his friend’s kost in Koja, North Jakarta, where he allegedly raped her.
The victim and her family then reported that incident to Kontras, who helped them file a police report against H on November 4.
The police did not say what charges H could face for his alleged crimes. There was also no information on whether or not the eight men who first assaulted the victim were ever caught.
The government this year introduced chemical castration as a punishment for convicted pedophiles, with President Joko Widodo justifying the law by saying that there could be “no compromise” when it comes to tackling sex crimes. The government was spurred into introducing the the law after the horrific rape and murder of a 14-year-old in Bengkulu by a gang of men and boys earlier this year.

This viral video of traffic cops asking for durian as a bribe is the most Indonesian thing you’ll see all day
103080
This video is practically Indonesia in a nutshell, except instead of the smooth shell of a nut, we’re dealing with the spiky shell of the durian aka the king of fruits.
The durian, loathed by many foreigners due to its pungent aroma, is generally beloved by locals in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia due to its sweet and creamy seeds. These Indonesian traffic cops clearly love the controversial fruit as well, so much so that they were caught on video asking for durian as a bribe from a driver at a traffic checkpoint.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI7q0yzwrQA
According to Tribun, the video was uploaded on Facebook on May 25. It shows the point of view of the driver as he drives into a traffic checkpoint and is greeted by two traffic cops. It’s not clear if the driver committed any violations, but a conversation can be heard between the two parties in which the officers ask if they could have one of the three durians that the driver had with him.
At first, the driver is reluctant to let go of any of the spiky fruit, telling the officers that it’s for his wife at home, who is pregnant and is craving durian.
But one of the officers counters by saying that it’s dangerous for pregnant women to eat durian (which is a myth, good sir, but nice try) before going on to ask how much the durians cost. After learning that the durian cost Rp 50,000 each, some haggling between the driver and the cops ensues, which ends with the cops agreeing to take the smallest durian.
The identities of the traffic cops are not yet known, but the original poster of the video wrote that the buah-based bribe solicitation occurred on a road leading to the city of Palembang in South Sumatra.
So in this video we have a traffic bribery, some haggling, and durian – three ubiquitous aspects of Indonesian life. What video could possibly be more representative of the country?

Australian tourists in Bali are unknowingly being fed dog meat and supporting a brutal trade which sees the slaughter of thousands of animals.
Horrifying footage shot by Animals Australia on the popular Indonesian island shows how dogs are caught with nooses, tied up and killed before their meat is sold as chicken satay sticks to tourists.
"When we embarked on this investigation, we didn"t have any idea that we would be documenting that dog meat is entering into tourist areas," Animals Australia"s Lyn White told the ABC"s 7.30 program.
103533
Australian tourists in Bali are unknowingly being fed dog meat. This vendor selling dog meat at the popular Double Six Beach near Seminyak told tourists his product was chicken satay
Horrifying footage shot by Animals Australia on the popular Indonesian island shows how dogs are captured and killed
"We just know how deeply this will distress and shock tourists that have gone to Bali."
Disturbing footage aired on the program on Monday night showed one dog meat vendor approaching a group of Australian tourists at the popular Double Six Beach near Seminyak.
"Just one dollar... satay chicken... not dog," the man explained, showing the group of men a box labelled "sate."
"As long as it"s not dog," one tourist replied.
When an Animals Australia investigator approached the vendor just moments later asking what he was selling, he replied: "Dog satay."
103534

103535
Disturbing footage captured by the animal rights organisation show how dogs are tied up and killed before their meat is sold as chicken satay sticks at tourists hubs
103536
"This is why you have a picture of a dog here?" the investigator asked, pointing to a pictured strapped to his moped.
"Yeah, yeah," he replied.
During his four-month investigation, a man the ABC named as Luke watched as dogs were bludgeoned, hanged by the throat until they died of asphyxiation or had poison forced down their throats.
"Aside from the cruelty, the greatest shock was to discover that tourists are unwittingly eating dog meat," Luke told the broadcaster.
"A group of Aussie tourists enjoyed the dog meat satays so much they went back for seconds. Yet had they known the origin of the meat they would have been sickened."
Ms White, Animals Australia"s Director of Investigations, said the poisoning of dogs whose meat was sold as food posed obvious health risks.
103537

103538
Dog meat is being sold to tourists at restaurants and and roadside barbaques like the one above
"Incredibly poisoned meat is entering the food trade through the dog meat trade," Ms White said.
She added: "This is a profoundly distressing situation. Not only is the suffering of the dogs horrifying, tourists are unwittingly fuelling the trade.
"Most tourists have no idea that the letters RW on the outside of popular street food stalls in Bali indicates that dog meat is being served.
"In addition, mobile dog meat vendors are deliberately targeting tourists on beaches and are prepared to lie about the origin of the meat to get a sale."

103541
During his four-month investigation, a man the ABC named as Luke watched as dogs were bludgeoned, hanged by the throat until they died of asphyxiation or had poison forced down their throats
Some people in Bali believe dog meat is a healthy alternative, and the belief that it increases male virility and its low cost has seen its popularity grow over the years.
Ms White said her organisation is working to end the savage practice without "condemning" the Balinese culture.
"We have based Animal"s Australia"s Veterinary Director in Bali as part of our offer to partner with the Bali government to create animal welfare improvements on the island," she said.
"This is not about condemning a culture, it is about addressing unnecessary cruelty and seeking to transform a situation of unimaginable suffering into a positive outcome.
"Dog eating in Bali was fuelled by a minority group who came to the island to work in the hospitality industry - it is not a Balinese practice.
"For thousands of years Bali's dogs have lived peacefully in villages with locals - it is our hope that they will be able to do so again."

Pretty much every unmarried Indonesian in their 20s (even more so for those in their 30s, or older) has intrusively been asked “kapan kawin?” (when are you getting married) at many a social gatherings, but it seems this young couple will be able to skip all of those uncomfortable interrogations since they got married while still in middle school.
On May 17, 2017, a couple from Baturaja, South Sumatra named Muhammad Fitrah Rizky aka Gaston (15) and Amanda Safitri (who will be 15 this December) officially tied the knot. Photos of their wedding ceremony – in which both Gaston and Amanda exuded youthful naïveté (hence looking far, far too young to get married) were posted on Facebook and soon became viral in Indonesia, with many expressing outrage that they were allowed to marry so young.
But marriages like this are hardly out of the ordinary in Indonesia.
According to UNICEF, one in six Indonesian girls marry before they turn 18, which is equal to 340,000 girls a year. About 50,000 wed before they turn 15.
That is despite the official minimum age of marriage in Indonesia being 16 for girls and 19 for boys, as stated in Law no. 1/1974 on Marriage. Even those ages, which many would argue are still too low, are at odds with the religious and cultural values held by many conservatives, allowing for marriages between kids like Gaston and Amanda to continue to happen in the country.
For a Muslim couple, a proper marriage in Indonesia is one that is both recognized by the state and follows religious norms. For this to happen, the married couple must be wed with the blessing of a cleric/official from the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) as well as registering their marriage in the civil registry.
But if the marriage isn’t registered in the civil registry, then there is what is known as nikah siri, which is a type of marriage that follows religious norms but is not recognized by the state. This presents a loophole for kids like Gaston and Amanda to get married, as in Islam, there is no set minimum age for marriage. In its place are subjective gauges on whether a boy or a girl has reached “maturity”, such as having gone through puberty.
Nikah siri continues to happen throughout Indonesia because in that very same law that sets the minimum age for marriage, there is a contradictory clause that says, “A marriage is recognized if done according to the laws of their religion and beliefs.” This protects nikah siri from being seen as a violation of the law, whereas without which it could be construed as statutory rape if the marriage involves underage individuals.
A draft to introduce punishments for marriages that aren’t recognized by the state was put forward to parliament in 2010, but it was never passed into law. In fact, two of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah, publicly rejected the draft, with their argument being marriage, whether officially recognized by the state or not, is a great way to reduce sexual harassment and/or sex outside marriage.
Sin plays a major factor as to why nikah siri is still permissible by law in Indonesia. This is perhaps best exemplified by an online group/movement named Indonesia Tanpa Pacaran (Indonesia Without Dating), which encourages members to either stay single or marry as soon as possible as dating, and all the sexual implications it may have, is a sin in Islam. On Facebook, the group has over 200 thousand followers.
What’s never mentioned in the group’s constantly updated feed is the mental, financial, and physical implications of child marriage – especially when it comes to childbearing. In April of this year, Indonesian female Muslim clerics issued an unprecedented fatwa (edict) declaring child marriage to be harmful as it is a large contributor to Indonesia’s high maternal mortality rate. Furthermore, they cited studies that many Indonesian child brides could not continue their studies once wed and half their marriages ended in divorce in addition to child marriage increasing the risks of exploitation, sexual violence, and domestic abuse.
Sadly, fatwas aren’t legally binding but it’s a great step to raise awareness towards the dangers of child marriage.
So Gaston and Amanda may not be asked “kapan nikah?” but they stand as good a chance as any married Indonesian couple of being intrusively asked “kapan punya anak?” (when are you going to have children?) at social gatherings. Only they know what to reply to that question, but hopefully they realize that they aren’t ready mentally, financially, and physically, because they are still children themselves.

Indonesia Police decide to dispose of confiscated fireworks by setting them on fire, end with 17 buildings damaged during explosion
http://imxge.com/images/2017/06/23/a1.png
As you may be aware from their annual steamrolling of confiscated alcohol before Ramadan, the Indonesian Police often like to make a big show out of the disposal of confiscated illegal goods. But the police in Central Java’s Kebumen regency seem to have made a bit of a miscalculation when they decided to get rid of 287 kg of illegal fireworks… by lighting them on fire.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRm0rJRQbvA
The explosion took place near Kebumen’s Gemeksekti Village on Monday afternoon. At the beginning of the 14-seconds video, the onlookers seem impressed by the large plumes of white smoke coming off of the burning contraband and let out a woo when the color suddenly flares orange, moments before an enormous explosion shakes the camera and causes screams of terror as the onlookers scatter.
The massive explosion caused the windows of about 17 buildings in the village, mostly homes but one mosque as well, to either crack or shatter. There was also damage to some walls and ceilings.
The explosion was said to be quite extremely loud and could be heard several kilometers away. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries caused by the incident, although one woman was taken to the hospital due to shock.
After the above video of the explosion started going viral online, it was confirmed that it was, in fact, caused by the police’s disposal of illegal fireworks.
Kebumen Police Chief Titi Hastuti said his officers had been disposing of 287 kg of illegal fireworks that had been confiscated by 24 people throughout Ramadan thus far.
Police Sergeant Krida Risanto said that firework disposal was actually done in accordance with their procedures using explosive-proof ‘bomb baskets’ and that they had no idea the explosion would be large enough to cause damage to buildings.
“All damages will be fixed by [the police],” Krida promised after meeting with residents, as quoted by Suara Merdeka.
This is not the first time that a police evidence disposal display has backfired in Indonesia. In 2015, West Jakarta Police burned 3.3 tons of marijuana in a large field, leading several witnesses to complain that they felt “dizzy” due to the strong smoke.

While corruption is know to permeate many Indonesian governmental institutions, the country’s prison system is notorious for stories of breathtaking corruption that has allowed, in the past, for well-heeled inmates to routinely leave prisons for outside trips and even international vacations while staying in luxurious cells equipped with everything from karaoke machines and big screen TVs to private ‘love chambers’ and even maids.
The government has vowed numerous times to clean up the prisons and fire officials that run their correctional facilities like resorts, but, clearly, they need to keep working on the problem as yet another luxury cell was recently ‘discovered’ in East Jakarta’s Cipinang prison.
The head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Budi Waseso (who famously pushed for the creation of an island prison for drug dealers surrounded by man-eating crocodiles) said that his investigators came across the well-appointed cell while investigating a money laundering case that led them to the prison
“The discovery came when the BNN investigative team looking into the crime of money laundering conducted a search of a Cipinang Prison cell on May 31, 2017, which was inhabited by convict Haryanto Chandra alias Gombak,” Budi said today at BNN headquarters as quoted by Tribunnews.
Haryanto Chandra was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2014 under Indonesia’s harsh drug trafficking laws. But it seems like his time hasn’t been that hard so far, as BNN found his cell to contain air condition, a WiFi internet connection, a laptop and iPad to utilize the WiFi as well as four mobile phones.
According to Budi, it also included an aquarium and a special menu for ordering food. Oh, and they also found crystal meth.
Investigators were able to recover about Rp 9.6 billion of the money Haryanto was suspected of laundering, but the BNN chief did not mention what, if any, steps were taken to rectify the situation in the prison.
Many Indonesians support the death penalty for drug dealers because they believe that they can simply continue to run their businesses from behind bars while still enjoy the perks of their profits. And for good reason, since it was proven that some, such as infamous drug kingpin Freddy Budiman who was executed last year, were doing just that.

‘Online taxi’ driver stripped and humiliated at Yogyakarta airport ...for violating pick-up rule
106956
Cars for ride-hailing companies like Uber and Grab, locally known in Indonesia as “online taxis”, are generally allowed to drop off and pick up passengers at airports provided they observe some rules so as not to clash with conventional taxis.
One online taxi driver in the city of Yogyakarta was allegedly humiliated after he picked up a passenger where he wasn’t supposed to at the city’s Adisutjipto Airport.
According to reports, the driver, identified as F, dropped off a passenger at the airport’s Terminal B at around 8pm on Sunday. He then picked up another passenger from the terminal, despite there being a regulation that online taxis can only pick up passengers from the immigration office 200 meters from the terminal.
“Right at that moment, a provost military police officer told F to get out of the car, take off his shirt and apologize. The passenger said they were wrong, but (the officer) didn’t care,” said Yogyakarta online taxi drivers association spokesman Daniel, as quoted by Detik today.
In videos of the incident that have gone viral, F was shown to have been sitting topless inside the airport terminal, with many people watching, while being forced to say his apologies repeatedly.
What the videos did not show was that he was later allegedly made to apologize to every single conventional taxi driver at the airport before being let go at around 11pm.
“Usually (online taxi drivers who violate rules at the airport) are just told to leave or pay a fine. Why did they have to humiliate him? I deeply condemn this incident,” Daniel told Detik.
The Yogyakarta Police said they will launch an investigation into the incident, while airport management firm PT Angkasa Pura I said the airport’s conventional taxi drivers, not military police officers, were the ones who stripped and humiliated F in retaliation for supposedly stealing their customers.

Indonesian thieves toss cash onto street to distract pursuers, one escapes, police ask public to return money
106957
Stolen money isn’t any good to a thief if they get caught, so spending a part of their illegal earnings to ensure escape doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Two thieves in the Indonesian city of Palembang in South Sumatra made that calculation while literally on the run, and it actually worked, for one of them. The other one, not so much.
The incident took place yesterday at around 2pm. The thieves were staking out a bank in search of customers making large cash withdrawals (something many Indonesians do before the Eid holiday).
The thieves followed a 44-year-old man, Syah Budi, who had just withdrawn Rp 20 million ($1,500) in cash, out to his car. They then set up nails on the road to deflate the car’s tires. When Shah got out of the car to fix them, the thieves quickly took the cash from the car.
However, Budi’s son saw the theft and yelled at the pair. Budi realized what had happened and yelled at them too as they ran away.
As it was the middle of the day on a busy street, there was no shortage of onlookers to the crime. So the thieves panicked and tossed part of their purloined profits onto the ground to distract them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjyg4IHHL9c
As you can see from the video, quite a lot people stop to pick up the bills, but not everybody was distracted. As the camera pans down the street you can see a small mob of people surrounding the one thief who was unlucky enough to get caught. You see him take a few vicious blows from the crowd and the video ends with them surrounding him closely.
Police eventually apprehended the mob-caught criminal and later identified him as a 25-year-old named Nurdiansyah, who claimed that he turned to theft because he was desperate to make money before the Eid holiday.
And what about all of that street cash….
“The amount of money taken by the victim from the bank was Rp 20 million. We managed to secure more than Rp 9 million of that, while over Rp 10 million was taken by people passing by the incident,” said officer Hadi Wijaya of the Palembang Police on Wednesday night as quoted by Detik.
“We hope that people will have the good will to return the money, because, after all, it belongs to the victim of a crime,” Hadi added.
We’ll just have to wait to find out how many of those people will have the good will to return the stolen money.

818 Jakarta civil servants failed to show up at work on 1st day after Eid holiday, all will lose a month’s allowance
106958
Nobody likes going back to work after the holidays, but Indonesian civil servants are especially notorious for failing to show up at the office after the Lebaran break. It’s such a big problem that some, like the mayor of Magelang, have tried rewarding civil servants for showing up to work on the first day after the Eid break, but the Jakarta Government is taking a harsher stance.
The head of Jakarta’s Regional Personnel Agency, Agus Suradika, said that a staggering 818 Jakarta civil servants failed to show up at their offices on Monday, although he said that number included employees who might have had legitimate reasons for not showing up to work such as sudden illness.
Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that he would sanction all civil servants who were absent by not giving them their Regional Performance Allowance (TKD) for one month. The TKD is the stipend given to government employees to cover miscellaneous costs such as transportation and varies in size depending on the job,
Djarot said such employees should be dealt with harshly, as they had already been given 10 days of holiday over Lebaran. He also said that he would not be lenient on those enabling absenteeism.
“If there is a boss who covers his subordinates who do not come to work, then his boss also hit,” Djarot said as quoted by Tempo.
It seems the stricter rules set up by Djarot’s predecessor, the now jailed Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, have been effective in improving discipline. While 818 is a lot, it’s nothing compared to the 6,072 Jakarta civil servants who failed to show up to work on the first day after the Lebaran break in 2016. So…is there progress?

37,000 Jakartans still lack access to toilets, defecate in public areas, according to official
108437
There’s an enormous wealth gap between the rich and poor citizens of Jakarta, and there’s perhaps no better statistic to illustrate that than this one that the city government just dropped.
According to the city’s deputy governor for spatial planning and the environment, Oswar Muadzin Mungkas, this year the government is starting to develop a communal waste system as there are still thousands of Jakartans who don’t have access to toilets and therefore excrete their waste in public areas.
“Our target is that, by developing this system, the 37,000 Jakartans who still defecate in random places won’t do so anymore within five years,” Oswar said, as quoted by JPNN yesterday.
Those “random” places where low income Jakartans excrete waste are usually naturally occurring waterways in the city, such as the Ciliwung River, which has long been infamous for its filthiness.
Oswar said that the city will begin by building communal toilets and septic tanks, particularly for slum dwellers who have built settlements on the city’s river banks. These would later be connected to a septic pipe system to transport the waste away from the slums in order to keep them hygienic.
In five years time, Oswar said the city government is targeting that 80% of Jakarta will be connected to the septic pipe system.
In the meantime, it’s probably in everybody’s best interest not to jump into any of Jakarta’s rivers.

Wife of Indonesian police general slaps airport security officer after refusing to take off watch for X-ray check (VIDEO)
109837
The wife of a police general apparently thought she was above the law and standard airport security procedures, but now she is facing the prospect of serious legal consequences after her assault on a security officer was caught on tape.
Yesterday, a video of an irate woman at Manado City’s Sam Ratulangi Airport went viral in Indonesia. The woman, clad in all black and wearing bug eye sunglasses (while indoors, mind you), looked extremely upset that she had been asked by airport security officers to take off her metal watch for the X-ray checkpoint, as is standard procedure. Instead of complying, she had to be held back by her daughter as she tried to fight a female officer before slapping said officer in the face.
It seemed like the behavior of a person used to getting away with things because of their position. But she’s not getting away with anything this time, as the incident was recorded and shared on Twitter by none other than Indonesia’s Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, who added a caption condemning the woman’s actions and arrogance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pIyCwJfxps
Airport management firm PT Angkasa Pura I said the woman and her daughter were taken to a police station following the incident. As a result, they missed their morning flight from Manado to Jakarta but were reportedly allowed to get on a later flight.
According to local police, two reports were filed against the woman, one by the security officer who was slapped as seen in the video, and another by another officer who was hit in the arm, an incident which was not captured on film.
“There are two reports filed (against the woman). We will handle both reports in accordance with the law,” said North Sulawesi Police Spokesman Ibrahim Tompo, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
The National Police have also gotten involved, confirming that the woman in the video, Joice Warouw, is the wife of a police general.
“Yes, that’s (the wife of) Brigadier General Sumampouw who’s assigned to the National Police,” said National Police spokesman Setyo Wasisto.
It’s not yet known what charges Joice will face, but Indonesian public officials, including Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, ensured that the case will be dealt with in accordance with the law regardless of her husband’s position.

Messaging app Telegram, arguably the most popular app of its kind with over 100 million monthly active users recorded last year, has been officially blocked by the government of Indonesia according to an official from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Menkominfo).
“It’s true (Telegram has been blocked), we are currently preparing an explanation,” said Noor Iza, acting head of public relations at Menkominfo, as quoted by Detik this afternoon.
Noor asked for patience as Menkominfo would soon release a full statement explaining the block.
Indonesian internet users started noticing this afternoon that they were unable to access Telegram through multiple major ISPs, including Telkom and XL.
A screenshot from one Twitter user that tried to access Telegram allegedly shows a notification message indicating that Telegram was blocked for violating Indonesia’s Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE).
109847
Telegram is primarily distinguished from its competitors, such as Whatsapp, by its security features including unbreakable end-to-end encryption, secret chat rooms, and self-destructing messages.
It is these features that have led security analysts to warn that Telegram has become the messaging app of choice for terrorist groups, especially ISIS. It is believed the app has been used to plan and coordinate several terrorist attacks in the last few years.
109848
It is likely that the Indonesian government blocked the apps on the grounds that it was being used to spread information regarding terrorism, treason or radical ideologies, any of which would be a violation of UU ITE.
Based on our research, it would appear that Indonesia is the only country besides China to actually block Telegram in its entirety. The Russian government threatened the block the app in late June (leading to the app’s creator to register his company with their government, although they did not agree to demands to share private data) while the app’s voice call feature was blocked by a court order in Iran.

Spider-Man heroically stops motorcycles from entering elevated road in Malang
110452
The hype for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is still strong in Indonesia after its theatrical release last week, and the new superhero flick is getting some free viral marketing in the country thanks to this friendly neighborhood (unofficial) traffic man.
Recently, a video went viral showing a man in a Spider-Man costume directing traffic in the East Java city of Malang. Standing before the Arjosari flyover, he tries to prevent any motorcycles from going up the elevated road, which is against the law (a law that is often violated in Indonesia, leading to some horrific accidents).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77kps8Ytnns
While Malang’s Spider-Man has won over many fans, especially the many elementary school kids who came to see him in the video, Malang’s traffic police chief rightly pointed out that his stunt is dangerous.
“It’s admittedly good and funny, but the method is wrong,” said Ady Nugroho, head of the Malang Police’s Traffic Unit, as quoted by Merdeka.
But, as they say, it wouldn’t be heroic if there wasn’t an element of danger. That said, we hope nothing bad ever happens to Malang’s Spider-Man. Perhaps the police could show him the correct ‘method’ by appointing one of their own to direct traffic at the junction.
And apologies to Spider-Man for revealing his secret identity (even though we initially thought he was Tom Holland, considering his build), but this traffic hero happens to be Universitas Brawijaya student Aziz, originally from the North Sumatran city of Medan. He told the media that he took up the stunt after growing worried about seeing so many motorcyclists driving up the flyover.

The capital of Indonesia suffers from from some of the most infamously awful traffic in the world, inadequate public transportation and terrible conditions for pedestrians. But, if there’s one bright spot in Jakarta’s transportation infrastructure, one thing that we can hold over the heads of rival cities like Bangkok and Singapore, it’s our taxis.
If you pick a legit Jakarta taxi brand like Blue Bird or Express, you rarely have to worry about a driver not using the meter or blowing you off if your destination isn’t convenient to them. And, on top of that, Jakartans pay less for taxis than almost anywhere else in the world.
That’s according to the results of the 2017 Taxi Price Index published by UK-based Carspring. Based on an 80-city survey, the index’s rankings show that Jakarta’s taxis are the 3rd cheapest in the world based upon an average 3 kilometer fare costing $1.47 (Rp 19,577).
110455
The only cities with cheaper taxi rides based on that metric are Mumbai at $1.40 and Cairo at a measly $0.55. On the flip side, the most expensive taxis are in Zurich, where a 3 km ride will cost you an incredible $25.25.
Other Coconuts cities in the top 20 include #7 Bangkok ($1.64), #8 Kuala Lumpur ($1.89), and #20 Singapore ($4.01).
To get those figures, the index “calculated the price of a 3 km ride within the same area (inner city journey) including a 60 second waiting time (20 sec/km) accounting for red lights, stop signs, etc.”
The study also calculated the standard fare from airports to city centers, and Tokyo easily took top place by a mile with a fare of $189.91. Cairo remained the most affordable, with a fare of $4.20.
To show the initial hire and waiting time costs, the report used data given by the official website of each city; and to work out the airport to city fares, information was gleaned from official airport and tourist information sites.
The index only takes into account official taxi company prices and does not include price data from ride-hailing services like Uber.
So buck up Jakartans, it’s not so bad. Next time you’re stuck in a taxi during a diamond-dense traffic jam, think to yourself, “At least I don’t live in Zurich”.

This is the astonishing moment a crocodile clutches a missing man in its jaws after a witch doctor claimed he summoned it to return the body.
The missing man, identified as Syarifuddin, 41, was bathing in a river with friends when the beast pounced and dragged him beneath the water in Berau, Indonesia, on Tuesday at 6.20pm.
Desperate relatives reportedly searched in vain for him and it was assumed that he had been taken into the depths of the Lempake River when police failed to find him.
Villagers contacted a local black magic wizard who specialises in "crocodile witch craft" and it"s claimed they cast a spell for Syarifuddin to be brought back alive. Incredibly, his body is said to have emerged yesterday morning.

Residents cover up the body of the man after retrieving it from the water in Indonesia
111275111276
After Syarifuddin, pictured left and right, was dragged to his death, residents called a witch doctor in an attempt to get his body back
https://s1.picuza.com/Rk5Fj.jpg
It is claimed that after the crocodile whisperer set out his message, the man was returned to the river bank
The predator is purportedly seen floating to the banks with the naked body of Syarifuddin in its jaws as the gathered crowd looks on, in video footage from the scene.
It then dropped off the corpse sparking suggestions the saltwater crocodile, which can grow up to 5.2m as an adult, had actually been guarding the victim"s body from other predators seeing as it hadn"t been eaten.
Friend Andi Resmin who was with Syarifuddin when he was captured by the croc said: "He was just in the water and the crocodile humped at him and took him."
Local resident, Eet, said there was a local myth that anyone bathing with clothes on in the river would be fine - but bathing naked would result in a crocodile attack.
https://s1.picuza.com/RkTzn.jpg
Stunned locals gathered to receive their friend from the predatory beast
He said: "If the person bathes naked, they will be definitely be eaten by crocodiles, for sure. If they wear clothes they will not be ambushed."
Syarifuddin was found dead and had injuries to his ribs on the right side of his body.
Police chief Inspector Talisayan Faisal Hamid, who is now investigating the incident, said: "The victim"s friends report to the officer he was attacked by a crocodile. That night we did a search."
The officer said nothing was returned that evening and so residents contacted a crocodile charmer and the body appeared the next morning on Wednesday.
Hamid said it was "very weird" that three crocodiles emerged from the river, suggesting the body of the man was being protected so that "the victim could be delivered".
He said: "People also bathe in the water, so again, it is unlucky that he was killed by the crocodile."
Police Inspector Hamid said the "important thing was that the body had been found" and that locals were now "hunting the crocodile that attacked" the man.

Lawyer for ‘spiritual guru’ Dimas Kanjeng posts ‘proof’ of his client’s ability to conjure money out of thin air
111523
Dimas Kanjeng Taat Pribadi, better known simply as Dimas Kanjeng, is infamous in Indonesia as being a “multiplier of money” – a “spiritual guru” with the “power” to conjure money out of thin air – which has turned him into a cult leader with hundreds of followers who actually believe in his “abilities”. (Sorry for all the quotation marks there, but, in this case, it’s highly necessary.)
Dimas Kanjeng was arrested last year as a suspect in two murders after he allegedly called hits on his former disciples, a crime for which he is currently facing trial. But Dimas Kanjeng was also charged with fraud after videos showing him sitting on a chair, reaching behind his back and “miraculously” pulling out wads of cash went viral after his arrest.
Dimas Kanjeng had not reproduced the supposed miracle since his arrest, complaining “he had a headache” when reporters challenged him to conjure money out of nothing in front of them.
But last week, Dimas Kanjeng’s lawyer, Muhammad Soleh, posted a video of his client once again producing money out of his ass (almost literally) as proof that he’s totally still got it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjuFe06uhDc
This time, Soleh made sure to show the camera that there were no hidden pockets under Dimas Kanjeng’s shirt (skeptics, aka the guru’s blasphemers, believed that he simply hid the cash under his large robes when performing his trick) before he seemingly produced money out of thin air behind his back, which he then threw on the floor for Soleh to pick up. However, just like in previous videos, the camera never showed what was behind Dimas Kanjeng while he was sitting down (nobody was allowed to stand behind him in previous performances of his “miracle” either).
Even so, Soleh is trying to pass this off as evidence that his client is not a fraud, saying that he now believes in Dimas Kanjeng’s ability despite being a rational man (he is, after all, a lawyer).
“I can confirm that the video is real, unedited. I was there to witness it while it was filmed,” Soleh said, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
“The money is real. I used it to buy this and that, no problem.”
Soleh added that Dimas Kanjeng also uses the money to pay for the 16 lawyers he hired to defend him, including Soleh himself. Soleh refused to reveal the location of the latest video (Dimas Kanjeng is, after all, still in police custody), but it’s very likely that it was filmed before one of his court hearings recently, as hinted by Dimas Kanjeng’s formal batik shirt.
The most obvious explanation for Dimas Kanjeng’s highly-successful cult scheme is that he was tricking his followers into joining his cult by first having them “invest” their money, which is the exact same money that he used in his money-multiplying tricks. Video “proof” of his powers went viral, attracting more and more gullible and/or financially desperate people to become his followers, thus giving him even more money to perform his tricks with.
But it’s hard for cult followers to be rational. Dimas Kanjeng’s court hearings are often filled with his supporters, who can get really emotional and even cry tears of joy when they’re able to shake hands with their revered leader.
Dimas Kanjeng’s sentence hearing is scheduled for August 1. Prosecutors demanded that he be jailed for life for murder and fraud.

Grab investigating allegation that one of their drivers offered a passenger Rp 500K for sex
112042
Ride hailing app Grab is currently investigating allegations that one of its drivers in its motorcycle taxi fleet, GrabBike, made inappropriate sexual advances on his passenger via the app’s chat function.
Screenshots of the chat went viral over the last couple of days, showing the driver, identified by the initial S, offering to pay a passenger Rp 500K ($37) if she would spend “malam jumat” (a double entendre literally meaning Friday night, but is also a local euphemism for having sex) with him at his house until 2am. The unidentified passenger did not answer any of the lewd remarks from S, who went as far as telling her that he had already bought condoms.
Grab Indonesia said they’re aware of the chat and have summoned S for investigation.
“We are investigating and the account of the partner driver (S) has been suspended,” Grab Indonesia Country Marketing Director Mediko Azwar told Detik today.
Grab said they are also trying to communicate with the alleged sexual harassment victim. The company did not say whether or not they would report S to the police for sexual harassment at this point in their investigation.
In 2014, a survey by Thomson Reuters ranked Jakarta as having one of the world’s most dangerous public transportation systems, with many respondents from the city saying that they have been verbally harassed when using public transport before.

Cinema goer ‘possessed’ during screening of Annabelle: Creation in South Kalimantan
117946
Did the demon that possessed the doll in Annabelle fly (float?) all the way to Indonesia to possess an unsuspecting woman in South Kalimantan?
That might explain the events of the video below, if you believe in the supernatural and fictional characters being real (well, the Annabelle series is supposedly based on a true story, but the people who first told it were exposed as total frauds). As silly as it sounds, many netizens in Indonesia seem to believe that this woman was possessed by some kind of a spirit, related to the demonic child’s doll or otherwise, while watching Annabelle: Creation at a cinema in Duta Mall, Banjarmasin city.
According to information from the above Instagram post, which was uploaded by Indonesian comedy/memes aggregator @ngakaksehat, the woman suddenly screamed incoherently in the middle of the movie, scaring other cinema goers. She was then carried out of the studio and nothing has been heard of her since.
(Side note: Our favorite moment in the video is when one cinema goer can be heard demanding, “start the movie again from the beginning.” He’s clearly awesome.)
The incident supposedly took place at around 9:30 pm yesterday.
This video is eerily similar to another supposed possession that took place in a cinema in Bandung last year, supposedly to somebody who was watching The Conjuring 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdcqq63Zmlk
See a pattern here? In case you weren’t aware, the Annabelle movies are actually part of The Conjuring movie franchise. So we’ll leave it up to you to decide if these are actually evil spirits targeting unsuspecting cinema goers or just the latest episode in a frighteningly successful viral marketing campaign.
Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that Banjarmasin is located in the province of Central Kalimantan. We have corrected this to say that Banjarmasin is located in South Kalimantan.

Apparently, we 'invited' these attacks by posting FRs and providing info to sincere bros, while trying to stand up against trolls and retards. A troll with a negative pts rating gets more sympathy here from Mods, over well-established bros who have actually contributed. Go figure.

This white supremacist old dog's post are sometimes moved to the Indo TCSS thread and I did reply to him over there.
However from time to time he will want to start a fight again by quoting directly to my posts here.

There is a difference between constructive criticism, and a clear pattern of trolling and talking cock. HE HAS A -2 REP RATING This is the only forum i've been where such clear troublemakers are permitted to keep talking crap instead of being suspended. How is that behavior within SBF rules? Even with -2 rating, he is allowed to continually post crap without moderation. Is that within SBF rules? Let that sink in.
Ban him sends a message of which side you agree with: Trolls or Sincere Bros. Sure he can get a new nick, but it inconveniences him, and since you can tell he's not very smart, he may not even know how to do that properly :)
You can put him in your Ignore List and peace will prevail...:)
Does not solve the problem because he will keep talking cock and spread lies to all other innocent bros. The only way is to ban him so he is ignored by everyone. Even if he starts a new nick....his writing, grammar, and speech is so awful we can spot him a mile away. We can easily discern uneducated cockroaches from the educated.
I'll make the choice easy for you. You can BAN this lying Troll. Or you can close this thread as I will officially retire as TS and close my account on SBF. I WELCOME WOMANISER TO BE THE NEW TS , or find someone else to be TS and see how the thread goes. You have proven to me that there is no advantage to being a TS, as a clear Troll -2pts carry as much weight as a contributor with over 1000pt - clearly SBFs reputation system for contribution means absolutely nothing if that is the case.

Womaniser is honestly stupid and an imbecile. We are talking about a guy who posts Thailand FR in the JKT thread and doesn't understand the difference. He doesn't even use proper English grammar, and his sentences are not coherent and barely make any sense.

I can always tolerate some trolling, leaching etc. But someone like Womaniser is a pure virus who just leaches somewhere until it is destroyed. Its people like him that turn Thailand and pattaya to shit, and now he come to Jakarta to do the same. This recent flaming only started because he demand bro TC2 post FRs about his recent trip, so he can visit these same places and ruin it for the rest of us. Why should i help scum like him fuck up a city i like?
Below is a post by him in another forum about Thailand proving my point:
I 100% agree with you. Things have changed in these 10 years. Thailand is been expensive in Food but still accomodation is cheap. The attitude of girls has changed a lot. All have become money minded. Well A change is always seen in whole world with the time.
I been visiting Thailand from a long time. I speak Thai even but things are still hard for me sometimes.
So I just skipped my holidays from 4 Times in Thailand to 1 time in a year.
I have started new destination which is Jakarta.
Girls still don't know how to drag money from customers. The cost of food, accommodation & girls is cheap.
The fucking idiot doesn't realise, the attitude of girls changes when you spoil them. This retard goes to Classic and then tips girls 400k each!!!
Went to Classic Terminal 2.
....
Now I am sorry guys but this time I paid both the girls 400 K tips.
I am not a good tipper but they forced my mind to do it.
Damage 555 k plus 800 k tips.
Retards like this fuck up places, spoil girls and the market, then bitch and complain about it afterwards. They don't realise that they are the problem, just like Paki's they just migrate from place to place to fuck them up.

One oldman fucker say no money don,t call chicken.Go home masturbate .

Some teach you how to chose money changer and get higher bucks.
Some teach you how to take bus. To save some ruppiah and give to OKT.
Some teach you how to walk to joint. And give to OKT.
Some can bark around here like a real dog.
NONO cheeby idiot teach you all how to give less money for massage girl.
NONO cheeby idiot teach you all how to bargain for less money in booking.
Now all booking fees is not standard and prepare to paid more.
Some try to earn money by putting link for you to click and he earn commission. And some thread here i can,t understand why got 5 stars?

Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo called on the nation not to “exaggerate” the upside-down Indonesian flag blunder by Malaysian organizers at the 2017 SEA Games in order to preserve good relations between the two countries, but it appears his plea was disregarded by some.
Today, unidentified hackers from Indonesia hacked and defaced dozens of Malaysian websites in their protest of the upside-down flag controversy. As reported by Elshinta, as many as 27 websites were defaced to show a message like in the screenshot above.
The 27 websites now show photos of the upside-down Indonesian flag as appeared in the commemorative magazine of the regional sporting event, with a message underneath them that translates to, “Our nation’s flag is not a plaything.”
Under those are online handles of over a dozen hackers, believed to be Indonesian.
Of all the websites that were hacked, none of them appear to be hosted by the Malaysian government. The websites that were affected are an assortment of local businesses in Malaysia.
At the time of writing, the targeted websites are still defaced.
The upside-down flag controversy drew strong reactions from Indonesian netizens yesterday. The hashtag #ShameOnYouMalaysia topped Twitter’s trending topics shortly after the flag gaffe was made known to the public.

Tere's reli no one who can reli be banned on the internet world. :p

Alfamart apologizes after Instagram photos of employee sitting inside food freezer go viral
https://img8.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/25444/254440881e31ef185826cd1bc5d1e721099b7415.jpg
Alfamart, one of Indonesia’s largest convenience store chains, is facing a PR controversy after a couple of images of its employees engaging in shenanigans in one of their outlets went viral.
The photos, which were posted to Instagram via its Stories feature, show two employees — one male and one female — committing a food hygiene faux pas as the female employee sits inside a freezer containing packs of frozen food while the male employee seems to be partaking in the cheerful occasion. One of the photos was captioned, “Keseruan tiada akhir haha” (endless fun, haha).
https://img9.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/25444/254440894d70f859e9394ee71d7019092658b475.jpg
Alfamart has confirmed the authenticity of the photos and has issued a public apology on social media on behalf of the unnamed employees in the photos as well as anyone else who may have been involved.

In the apology post, Alfamart mentioned that the misbehaving employees would face unspecified “stern sanctions” from the company as a result of their actions.
The company did not reveal the identities of the employees, nor did they say which one of the chain’s thousands of outlets across Indonesia might contain frozen chicken nuggets contaminated by an Alfamart employee’s bum.

When asked who he obtained alleged bribe money from, Indonesian official responds, ‘from God’
https://img1.uploadhouse.com/fileuploads/25444/254441011d40218dfe0a0ff8a740e51db669d99d.png
Indonesian politicians have been caught in all sorts of corruption scandals, but we can’t think of another so brazen as to use God himself as an alibi for their ill-gotten gains.
Yesterday, former director general of the Department of Sea Transportation (Hubla) Antonius Tonny Budiono faced questioning from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators regarding his alleged involvement in a bribery case. Late last month, the KPK carried out a bust against Antonius, during which they found 33 bags and suitcases containing money in the form of rupiah, US dollars, pound sterling, euros, and Malaysian ringgit amounting to more IDR20 billion (US$1.5 million). KPK officers needed about six hours to count all the money.
Following his questioning at the KPK yesterday, reporters noted that Antonius had a grin on his face. When asked where he obtained all the money from, he simply responded, as quoted by Kompas:
“The money came from God.”
Antonius didn’t seem to be in the mood to answer the reporters’ questions seriously, as he continued to dodge questions with jokes. For example, when reporters prodded about the questions KPK’s investigators asked him, Antonius responded with, “(I was) questioned about life after death.”
Antonius, who is currently detained by the KPK, is a graft suspect after he allegedly received bribe money from the private sector to help them with various construction projects. He has been extremely uncooperative in revealing to the authorities where the money came from in previous interrogations, claiming that he has “forgotten” the specifics. However, he hinted at the existence of a corrupt “mafia” inside the Transportation Ministry, but has not revealed their identities.

Photo of elderly woman being sexually harassed on Jakarta public minivan draws outrage on social media
124272
We’ve read many accounts about the culture of street harassment many women have experienced in Jakarta, but a photo that has recently gone viral on social media in Indonesia illustrates just how pervasive it can be.
The photo, posted by Facebook user Novira Andraena, shows a man touching an elderly woman wearing a hijab on a public transportation minivan in Jakarta and has already been shared over 2,000 times.
In the caption, Novira says that it was a clear case of sexual harassment and proof that it doesn’t just happen to young women wearing revealing clothing.
According to the caption, the incident happened while she was in an angkot minivan on Thursday morning going towards Sudimara Station in Tangerang. At the time the only passengers was Novira, the victim, the perpetrator and another man who was looking out onto the street.
Novira noticed that the perpetrator was sitting very close to the victim and then saw he was reaching over to touch her chest while she slept. And then he did it again. Not believing what she was seeing and scared, Novira said she watched in horror and took the photo.
Novira says she kept staring at the perpetrator until he finally stopped what he had been doing. The victim woke up and the angkot reached its final destination. She waited until the harasser was gone and then went up to the elderly victim and showed her the picture.
According to Novira, the victim was shocked and said, “Oh Lord, how could he do something like that, I’m already a nenek-nenek (grandmother).” Novira then accompanied her to her train.

Threesome is an art. First one should learn how to do it. If you know the art, than you can definitely try foursome. But I have seen lots of people who are unaware of threesome. Specially lounge girls don't allow it. The rules are finish with one girl than start with other. Well that's not a threesome. That's means one is keep a spectator to watch his own porn movie.

I am a regular player. But sometimes situation is different. When some girls open up themselves to us and allow everything we want. Than higher tips has to be paid otherwise it would be disrespectful.
I appeal to members that, please try out in Classic, ask for a threesome, in which both girls has to be involved in act and no rules should be applied. In most cases they will say no, finish with one girl first, than start with other. This not called threesome, I would rather say that it is called a Spectator Act, where you have kept one spectator to see your porn video.
Good luck.

Man, WTF is "deep throat kissing"? Deep throat is shoving a cock down someone's mouth (no 'kissing' involved), whereas kissing is done between two pairs of lips. Is deep throat kissing some type of Ladyboy fetish you have? or 69 with a pair of cocks :D If i can't understand your broken English, how can you expect any uneducated indonesian girl or mamasan there to?
If you expect to find deep throat kissing there, and especially as a non-Asian foreigner, i think you are truly
I am sorry my English not is native tongue. I am from Pakistan but born in Afghanistan.
Deep throat kissing means putting tongue deep in the mouth until the throat if possible.
