Thanks for all your replies. I hear it and I'm trying not to let the dickhead do the thinking right now. I'm sure you guys have seen too many cases.

Perhaps we can see what she'll say after some rejections. Most importantly, will she honour the promise to pay back.

Anyway, I'm not sure what Thai people think in terms of relationship and money. Is it really a norm for them to ask their bfs for help back home? or is this only happening to foreigner bfs. What about their family?

Yes, one of the bro here got it right. There's something about being able to "act hero" in another country that makes men feel good. I think somehow a man needs to feel he is responsible for his partner's life, and has a great deal of control over it. However in this case, I might be the one under control so that's not a fun thing to think about.

90% of all Thai/Viet girls have parents who are in debt or need an operation or grandparents who have died 20 times over.

It's actually not that hard to open a business in Thailand. The running cost can be easily financed with a portion of her pay. But of course she does not have enough for expansion cos she was paying off her parents debt with everything the cafe earns.

I have met different types of thai girls and viet girls. They are usually very ok (in fact much more chatty and friendly) on surface. But I also have a fair share of surprises which I think is very very ridiculous.

For example, a syt from thai used to chased me and I was really flattered, but after a few months, I found she has a 9 years old daughter (and she was 26, how did she manage that?) that she forgot to mention nor did all our common thai friends mentioned. Everyone simply didn't think it was necessary to mention before I found out.

Haha.... that was pretty funny!

These con artists are famous the world over. It's one of Thailand's biggest money spinners. Do a google search. Alternatively you can read the threads in this section. It's full of naive men pouring out their sorry stories after being taken for a long and expensive ride.

Here's what I would do.

Pretend to run into financial trouble.
Then tell her you cannot afford to help her for awhile or even spend on her. See how she takes it for a month, then 2 months then 3.
If your relationship survives that, you may have hope yet.
If it doesn't, then you just saved yourself thousands of dollars and should be grateful.

Brother, I'm afraid you have been had. She sees you as an ATM. When their is no more money to dispense she will find the next ATM covenient to her. Your relationship to date has been based on money. You said it youself. While your losses are significant, they are finite. Finite in the sense that you will listen to the folks here especially and call an end to the madness. No need to make a big scene out of it with her. Just call it quits before you spiral down. When you lose all your money she will leave you so have the sense to make your loses finite.

BtW Thais have a reputation for being cunning and bad with personal finance and relying on "farang" to make up for their low IQ and inability to make money as well as lack of entrepreneurship. If you wnat to sink into a third would hole then keep at it. I suggest you stick to advanced SG society. If you want to date a girl to marry why not stick with a local SG girl? At least stay within East Asians (Chinese, Japanese or Korean)? What are you crazy? if you want to be immersed in Thai culture its in your own backyard at the Golden Mile Complex.
