Not Guest Friendly Hotels In Bangkok

Hi all,

So these are the hotels which make you pay extra joiner fees, if you want to change guests every different night of your stay. IF you check in with your guests, then keep the same during your stay, you should be ok. However when you know your dates, we need to check again, as management changes policy can change also!

The Grand Hotel Ratchada, a popular stay for Brothers is not guest friendly. They charge a joiner fee of 700 Baht.

The Siam Beverly Hotel is also not friendly. they charge 700 Baht joiner fee.

Merchant Court, Now Swissotel Ratchadapisek Rd. Not Girl Friendly 1000 Baht Joiner Fee.

Chao Phaya Park Joiner Fee 500 Baht.

Maxx Hotel Joiner Fee 600 Baht.

A-One Hotel Joiner Fee 600 Baht.

Ambassador Hotel 650 Baht Joiner Fee

Fortune Hotel 700 Baht Joiner Fee

First House Hotel 300 Baht Joiner Fee

Bangkok City Inn 400 Baht Joiner Fee

Re: Not Guest Friendly Hotels In Bangkok

Hi all,

Silom Serene Hotel Bangkok, has Joiner Fee 700 Baht per night/person. Also this hotel in my opinion should be avoided. They say confirmed, then try to book it 5 mins later, all rooms are full. I think that they keep the rooms for their internet site.

Cool Re: Not Guest Friendly Hotels In Bangkok

What joiner fee?? Never came across in my life. When you check in don't border to tell them anything. At night just bring the girl in and walk striaght to the lift! I done that many times, the Grand, Bayoke sky, Emerald, siam bervely, Marriot,...except some hotels near MBK where the security guard stop you....well those hotels are for big time tourist with family. If you kay kiang like usual sillyporean, too honest, then they more than happy to charge you extra. Even at Emerald the recep ask me the girl name for the first night, after that the second night I walk in with a different girl...the grand, just walk in...most of the time they don't really border you, too much a hassle to argue with you at night...they all changed shift and can't remember who is who check-in earlier, singlw or double ...you must bring the girl in like your girlfriend, like hold her hand, you look like a guest and they don't border you... if you ask, then you pay extra...the only time I get stop was 10 years ago at a hotel in sukumvit, anyway I paid the security and he help me sneak her to my room....

hehe.. I kinda agree with this statement... I jus brought my relatives around Bkk this evening... 1 of them told me taxi drivers tell them certain hours, they only charge by standard rate, like 100 baht instead of going by meters... well, i've never heard anything like this before too, but I believe its because they "kay kiang" go ask taxi drivers to go by meter whenever they stop the taxi.. well, nothing wrong with that because tourist books say must "make sure taxi drivers go travel by meters" right?
But of cos when u ask local drivers if "they go by meter?", they immediately know u're tourist! So of cos they wanna "chop" u....
So tip is just hop on the cab... tell driver ur destination, and try not to speak in english or mandarin with ur friends on the cab to let the driver know u're tourist... if u see he didn't on his meter, THEN u ask about the meter... if he insist on paying standard charge, then up to u lor... if u boey song jus ask driver to stop and change taxi.

But hotel.... abit difficult... sometimes if the security super ON kind.... they can tell if the Thai lady u with are WL/FL or not lah... but like Cococock says, maybe u can bride the security guard at a lower charge to bring ur girl in lor....

cheers

Bro, dun speak English or Chinese then speak wat?? Cannot just say, "Pi, bai MBK" n silence the whole trip....

My advice is just behave normal, hop into the cab, tell driver to go to your desination, normally either the driver understand where u want to go n on the meter, or he will say an amt....

haha.. pai say pai say.. ok, my mistake.. i think even alot of s'poreans tried to speak Thai, most Khon Thai can tell their foreigners anyway...

I was with my relatives jus now and i spoke Thai to the driver... but when my relatives hopped onto the taxi, they started to speak english and mandarin loudy... so i felt abit weird and worried that the driver will try to "chomp" me....

u're right lah.. jus act normal, hop into cab and tell driver ur destination, BUT don't say "go meter, ok?"....

If he ask for an amt, then up to u whether u feel justified or not lor..

Re: Not Guest Friendly Hotels In Bangkok

I am basically jus agreeing with cococock's statement in "If you kay kiang like usual sillyporean, too honest, then they more than happy to charge you extra. "...

This remind me of incident when I first went to pattaya and took the Song Tieow.... During that time (5 yrs ago), the Song tieow was standard 5 baht per head only around pattaya... but being a honest S'porean, I'll ask "how much?" when I alight the Song Tieow.. sometimes the driver will say 20 baht... but I pay anyhow.... Then after some times, I observed and saw that local Thai never ask "how much?" whenever they alight! Only then I realised... jus pay 5baht and quickly walk away.....

jus my experience.. cheers...

Cococock, is absoultuely right. Walk hand and hand, act like usual. Its your right to do what you want. You may get away with it. The hotels listed have given me their policies. However its up to the discretion of the staff to enforce this. There are so many rules in Thailand, but hardly any are enforced. Just look at The Thai police, bribe you way out of anything. Just act cool, you my be ok. But just be aware that these hotels above have the joiner fees, which they may or not charge you.

Cheers

Tim
