AMD's 16 teraflop Radeon Pro Duo is the world's fastest graphics card

AMD has unveiled a graphics card with 16 teraflops of compute and powered by two Fiji GPUs.

The Radeon Pro Duo has more than twice the horsepower of Nvidia’s 7 teraflop GTX Titan X.

The liquid cooled graphics board is the first in the world to use Fiji GPUs with vertically stacked high bandwdith memory.

Both GPUs sport the full array of 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units and 256 ROPs.

AMD's Pro Duo is designed with DirectX 12 games and VR in mind and is aimed at both professional VR and DX12 content creators as well as consumers.

The card has the same design as AMD’s flagship single-GPU Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card. It also features a single 120mm radiator and comes with three 8-pin power connectors.

AMD is displaying the Radeon Pro Duo graphics card at this year’s GDC. The firm has a developer system on show.

The graphics card will set users back $1499 (UK pricing currently TBC, but it is thought to be around £1200).

AMD’s Radeon Pro Duo goes on sale in early Q2 2016.

Yesterday, PCR reported that AMD said it has underscored its 'dominance' of the global virtual reality (VR) home systems market, having taken an estimated 83 per cent share of that market.

The chip maker made the announcement at GCD 2016. Read more about AMD's annoucements at this year's show here.
