should such meetings whereby fights are expected, take place? should thaivisitor takes up barrett's challenge?

how well does it speaks for members who issued the challenge? are they of proper background and upbringing, etc?

if a member declines the challenge, does that speaks poorly of him? is he a coward, chicken or whatever?

personally i discourage such meetings and dispises such acts or challenges. this is a forum of free speech, sharing of FRs, advices, criticisms, opinions, etc. any member who cannot take it, should preferably stay out of the forum.

Differences in opinions are only be expected and people do say things that they may not truly mean in the heat of anger so i don't think it's fair to say that one's upbringing is no good when one person challenges another. The thing about the internet is that people don't really see each other face to face and reading only the words that the other, so misunderstanding tends to be amplified. In my opinion, there are bound to have conflicts everywhere... So, the matured way is to resolve the conflicts by talking it out instead of jioing for fights... We are not small kids anymore and shouldn't use fight as a solution for resolving conflicts which is a childish way...

Anyway, as for the incident of a guy wanting to meet ThaiV, Uncle has already stated that he is free to meet up at GL10 for kopi when he is there. Anyway, I don't think it's necessary to involve in fights or anything harsh. For kopi and discussion is fine. If no choice, still have to pass through me first... Of course if I am there lah... :D

Well, just to share something that happened recently to me. I was setup by a local FL and a fellow bro to talk/settle things out over some conflicts and childish matters without my knowledge....

It was the most humiliating and insulting meeting I ever had.
Sometimes, its best to just leave things as it is in this forum, whatever need to be thrash out, do it here, in MSN if u like...cool off and forget about it....

Dont meet up in order to talk/settle things nicely etc...we will never know how's our mental and emotional state at that moment

This is my 100th Post (I'm more of a quiet type)...

Anyway, I think I'd mentioned in that thread before, it's saddening to see the Sammyboy Forum are turning into like this now...

Majority of the threads I see now is :

1) "I have contacts, let's share" ... and no FR after that
2) Quarrelling etc, among fellow Samsters ... it's amusing to watch at first, but it does gets on your nerves after the 3rd or 4th page, when all you wanted to see is another FR!

Suggest Sammyboy Big Boss to engage a few more moderators to look into this... It's not only eating up precious bandwidth, also to prevent ugly incidents happening... :rolleyes:

One have to distinguished between opinion forum , virtual irc chat with the real world. That is to be real in this forum, irc chat or being in a virtual world. Having to live in two world in your life? I believe to my true knowledge...most of them, in fact 99% opinion in this forum is real and of much experience. Some had gain friends and valuable advice thru this forum, which is truely valuable in both sense of the world. Same goes to irc chat, I do make lots of friends from chatting both male and female, some had end up as drinking buddy and had stick together to advise those new to irc chat on tipics and so on. There's bound to have opinion conflict among samsters as I had gone through...the only way to resolve it is to : ignore those wanting to resolve in meeting for a fight, stay cool , take it as a pinch of salt.

my answer is of cos not to meet to fight it out.

1stly, this is all online stuff, its not as if we have not enuff problems to deal with in the real world to bother with such trivalities online.

2ndly, we all hide behind our online persona in this forum, someone who u jio out to fight might be anyone...from yer best fren(improbable tho) to yer superior... worth the while? not to mention if escalate into fight, its breaking the law, riskin jail time and fine and bad record.

3rdly, we are all here to share share...why not close one eye and let it pass? and when flaming each other, leave each other enuff leeway to make an exit. no nid to flaming the person till no return. if we can do this, then we have reached the goal of this forum which is all about sharing. be it vids, stories or FRs.

lastly the world will be a better place with lesser conflict...make love not WAR. :D

I have no quarrels with all the opinions above and really respect your advises. I myself have discouraged and prevented samsters from meeting outside for a fight, be it 1 on 1 or group.

Nevertheless, no one wants to be branded a a coward, so its kind of difficult to ignore when barrett insitgated and challenged to meet me one on one to "beat the shit" out of it.

So how about those that anyhow post threatening to bash people up and challenging people to meet when they are not happy with that guy's negative comments on their posts. If the guy who is being challenged just keep quiet the antagonist will just become bolder and more arrogant just like a bully. I am sure we have seen some of such samster characters before until when someone really answers their challenge then they give all sort of reasons/excuses.

Anyway in my humble opinion the gentleman's way to settle any dispute that cannot be resolved over the forum is either each take a step back and forget about the whole issue or meet up NOT to fight but to talk over drinks and who knows you may even gain a friend in the end.

just like in soccer, any players (from both sides) get involved in dispute...and making a scene (fight??)...the referee will flash the card (yellow/red) to all involving parties...

In this case, I would suggest BIG BOSS be the referee and do something about it (of course, someone has to report this to BIG BOSS)....as the chinese saying goes..sha yi jing bai (kill one to warn hundreds)..

Let BIG BOSS monitor and judge the severity of the challenge/confrontation... if possible suspend their account for a period (1 day??? 1 week??) just to cool the matter...and let them have time to focus on other things and forget about this incident when they are back...

It is everyone wish that forum participation is greeted with welcomes...not a confrontation....

Flaming is existant in all forums of any backgrounds. Be it a Dirtbike/Cars/Sex/Motocycle forum.

Sometimes pple just tend to forget the utimate aim of a forum is to share information. Dun get me wrong, I have nothing against flaming or even bring things out of the net. However, I have personally come across cases where an individual talks like a crap on cyber space and in real life he is actually a nice chap?

Just walk away from the whole shit. My own personal advise is to totally ignore whatever the person ya involved in a flame war with or totally DUN visit the thread so first of all, you dun get angry (thou the itch will be there) secondly, you can calm down and forget abt the whole thing.

No offense to any bros here but just wanna share my opinion...I personally think that it is a childish thing to do to meet up face to face and ultimately ending up with either one party insulted or even physically hurt. These type of stuffs are reserved for young punks when they have their clashes on IRC or any online related matter. Gone are the days of 1 on 1 and ao buay gong tactics as I believe that most samsters here are matured ppl who doesn't act so impulsively.

Maybe to those parties involve in any disagreement could offer a settlement deal online instead of going head-on face to face? Or an apology would be even better. KNN, I know bros samsters will advise no to be taken in to meet and I believe barrett also knows that bros will advise me not to meet too. So there are few things that he will do.

1. If I take the advises of bro samsters here and not meet him, then he'll gloat in the forums and even PM me to show that he is the winner and I am the coward.

2. If I don't take the advise and continue and ask someone to check his particulars to see if it is correct before buying the ticket, he may find his way out to say that he's not stupid or whatever as he will say that I plan to have someone to look for him, etc, etc so no way to allow me to verify.

3. Even if verified, and I bought the ticket, he can don't come to Hatyai and post to say I am a fool, and because of pride and ego, foolishly purchase a ticket for him, thus having a good laugh.

Because I guarantee that he will have no guts to come to Hatyai to meet up with me for a one on one to bash me up. I really would love for him to come because I really like to give him the "experience of his lifetime" that he will remember and live to tell his grand children. In fact, I was planning that right at the airport, we will be bashing each other and both of us will be arrested and minimum lock up time should be at least 2 months. While inside, I'll introduced him on a guided tour of the facilities, my friends inside, the recreational activities, etc. :cool:

i had a bad experience once.....
i was chatting in a soccer forum a few years ago, i was still new in forum-chatting that time, and that forum was visited by mostly locals in s'pore.

then i had an argument with one person there (not i started one hor), his friend joined in to flame me, so 2 against 1.
the last straw came when they started heaping vulgars on family, so i asked them out for a drink.
