Bro this one also doesnt translate if there r more than one english word :(

example when is your next holiday etc...

Bro NobleEagle.

One should not learn a new language like that. It is a very pleasing experience to explore and try out the new language. If you depend too much on electronic translations, you will lose interest very quickly and even land you in trouble due to the e-translation can not translate "nuances"

What you need to start off:
[1] Procure a Thai for Beginers book. Study the book's lessons.
[2] mark the words that you came across and use the English equivalent to key in to the Thai translation website.
[3] You get a series of "near" equivalent words in Thai.
[4] Check and match the Thai word given in the e-dictionary and the one from the book. If they match...click the sound file and listen.
[5] Learn the Thai grammar and sentence structures. You will be happy to note that basically Thai is not as complex as Hanyu and even English that use a lot of variations and complex grammar and syntax structures. Thai is relatively simpler. You may apply a grammatical structure with new words:

eg. Big > YAI
Bigger > YAI GUA
Biggest > Yai TISOOT

if "Pretty" is SUAI
what will Prettier be? SUAI GUA
what about Prettiest? SUAI TISOOT

So, you keep on learning adjectives and apply to the structure...you will be 99.9% correct all the time.

As you progress, you need to test them out with Thai speakers [best will be the sleeping dictionary:cool:]

If you wish to do more studies, you need this good book:

"Thai Reference Grammar - The stucture of Spoken Thai" by James Higbie and Snea Thinsan (2002) ISBN 974-8304-96-5 (THB 895 sold in BKK book shops]

Had never took up thai lessons, or attend classes, or even learnt from tapes/cds... learned my thai through the hard way. Talking! ;)

Talk more, listen more... anything you don't know, ask your thai friends. This will help to strengthen and make you remember and know how to use it easier. :)

I interested in learning how to write/read thai next....

want you to know that I still love you the most
รัก เธอ ไม่มีวัน หยุด

อดีต ที่ ฉัน เคย ทำ ให้ เธอ ช้ำใจ

Those things that I did in the past which caused you to be heartbroken
ขอโทษ เถิด นะ ถ้า ยัง ไม่ สาย เกินไป โปรด อภัย ให้ กัน

So long inside, you should know how to speak basic right? ;)
Someone teach me the bad words of THAI!!! :D

There's a book "Outrageous Thai" that has slang words, curses and epithets. It is sold in Kinokuniya and is the best slang book i've seen so far. No horse run. If you want to impress your girl or any Thai, that IS the book to get. Btw, all bros who learn the vocab must be extra careful when using the words hor. It can be hazardous to your health!

Title: อมพระมาพูด om pra maa pood

เธอเดินมาหาทำหน้าเศร้า
ter dern maa haa tam naa sao
You come to me with a sad face

เธอบอกว่าเราไปกันไม่ได้
ter bork waa rao bai gun mai dai
and tell me that we can't get along.

เธอบอกว่าฉันดีเกินไป สำหรับเธอ
ter bork waa chun dee gern bai sam rup ter
You say I'm too good, for you.

คำพูดเธอนั้นมันง่ายด ียังโน้นยังนี้ทำหน้าตา
kum poot ter nun mun ngai dee yung nohn yung nee tam naa dtaa
But those words are too easy.

ทำเหมือนว่าฉันเป็นผักปลาไม่ใช่คน
tam meuan waa chun ben puk blaa mai chai kon
You acting like I'm a vegetable, a fish, not a man.

แสร้งทำเป็นดี
saeng tam ben dee
You pretended to be good.

บอกไม่มี ไม่มีใครใหม่
bork mai mee mai mee krai mai
You said, you have no one new.

อยากจะพักหัวใจ
yaak ja puk hua jai
You wanted to rest your heart

ไม่อยากมีใครมาพัวพัน
mai yaak mee krai maa pua pun
and didn't want anyone else involved.

อมพระมาพูดก็ไม่เชื่อ
om pra maa poot gor mai cheu
No matter what you say I wouldn't believe you.

ถึงแม้ว่าฉันยังรักอยู่

Even though I still love you.

ใครๆก็รู้ก็ดูออก
krai krai gor roo gor doo ork
Everyone can see it.

แต่จะไม่ยอมให้เธอหลอกอีกต่อไป
dtae ja mai yorm hai ter lok eek dtor bai
But I won't let you trick me any more.

พรุ่งนี้จะขอไปให้ไกล

YouTube - ''Ying Kwa Sia Jai" by thai singer Punch (more than sad) (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=v-RkCnKQQU4)

Artist - Punch
Album - ผู้หญิงกลางสายฝน
Title - Ying Kwa Sia Jai ยิ่งกว่าเสียใจ

เสียแรงที่รัก เสียแรงที่ไว้ใจ ไม่นึกว่าจะทำได้ลงคอ
sia raeng tee rak sia raeng tee wai jai mai neuk waa ja tam daai long kor
Wasted the efforts loving you, wasted the efforts trusting you. Never thought that you would be able to do such things, so shamelessly.

ช่วยตอบสักคำ ทำไมไม่รู้จักพอ ทำไม ใจเธอถมไม่เคยเต็ม
chuay dtop sak kam tam-mai mai roo jak por tam-mai jai ter tom mai koie dtem
Please just answer one question; why didn't you realize when it is enough? Why is it that your heart can't be satisfied?

เสียแรงที่หวง เสียแรงที่ทุ่มเท
sia raeng tee huang sia raeng tee toom tay
Wasted the efforts worrying about you, wasted the efforts devoting to you.

ไม่เห็นใจกันบ้างเลยหรืออย่างไร
mai hen jai gan baang loie reu yaang rai
Don't you sympathize with me at all, or is it otherwise?

เธอทำอย่างนี้ ฉันจะมองหน้าใครได้
ter tam yaang nee chan ja mong naa krai daai
You did it this way, how then shall I face others?

ทำไมใจเธอร้ายเหลือเกิน
tam-mai jai ter raai leua gern
Why is your heart so excessively bad?

ไม่เห็นกับตา ก็คงไม่เชื่อ
mai hen gap dtaa gor kong mai cheua
Don't see with my own eyes, maybe I won't believe.

ไม่เจอกับตัว คงโง่ไปอีกนาน
mai jer gap dtua kong ngoh bpai eek naan
Don't encounter it personally, maybe I'll be ignorant even longer.

คนรักกันไม่น่าจะทำได้ลง
kon rak gan mai naa ja tam daai long
People in love should never be able to do such things.

ความซื่อตรงไม่มีบ้างเลยหรือไร

ถ้าแม้วันนี้ เราต้องตายจากกันไป

The Chinese saying is not specific i.e. it did not mention anything about love. Thus the translation follows the meaning of the phrase. It does not have the word 'love' though the meaning can be inferred from the context of the conversation. i.e. when you are talking about love and you say the Thai phrase, it will be clear that you are referring to love.

I would like to add here a little ...."kor hok" lie or bluff, dtor lae...means more serious compare to kor hok in term of the lie.....! hahahahahah!:D

"lok" mean to con or frame........my little broken thai!:D

this phrase mean dun care whether together long or short but cared that we ever together and own etch other before. this phrase is basically tell your gal you want to fcuk her then go la.... haha... if you tell this to newly met gal upfront, you will never get the fcuk liao. haha... so you must fcuk first. then educate them this phrase so that they can let you go easily... else they will stick to you and very hard to drop.... but must tell them immediately after fcuk.. if you only tell after few month later... this phrase will not be useful liao la... even god also can not help you.... keke

''Luk'' means LOve
''Luk Ter'' means LOve U
''Mai Mii'' means No
''Wan Yut'' means Holiday
SO the whole phrase means ''Love U No Holiday''
Its actually a title of a old thai songs...........................

May I correct the phrase? :p

LUK ?? should be RAK [like in CHAN RAK TER]
RAK = Love
RAK TER = Love you
MAI MII = Don't have
WAN = day
YOOT = ending or stopping
WAN YOOT = No ending day

Yes, it is a very romantic Thai song ..I love the song and the original singer very much :D

Well, so far I have not come across any useful book on Northern Thai [Chiangmai dialect] but I have come across one on ISAN dialect:

"Speak Like a Thai" Volume 5 "North Eastern Dialect"
By Benjawan Pommsan Becker [USD 15] Book with CD

Perhaps this helps those who are intrested in the ISAN dialect

"Phom rak khun"

this sentence is very very dangerous... if you say it and puying reply gho hok... you are save... if she accept with smile... you are going to die soon... haha.. once you say rak to them, they assume you only love them alone and they will jealous if you with other gal.... but of course this is not applicable to you and there rest of the sifu la. you guys are super lao eng already. you are controlling them instead of they controlling you.... this only applicable for those newbie like me... i have done this fcuk mistake liao. now trying hard to settle... sigh.....

you guys really no need to sleep one hor... haha...

this phrase mean dun care whether together long or short but cared that we ever together and own etch other before. this phrase is basically tell your gal you want to fcuk her then go la.... haha... if you tell this to newly met gal upfront, you will never get the fcuk liao. haha... so you must fcuk first. then educate them this phrase so that they can let you go easily... else they will stick to you and very hard to drop.... but must tell them immediately after fcuk.. if you only tell after few month later... this phrase will not be useful liao la... even god also can not help you.... keke

ooh tks for ur advise, wah lucky i ask again, was abt to send to tis havent met before girl haha otherwise she sure run far far away from me liao hehe :D

''Soot Yord'' can be used both as positive and negative remark Positive remark eg. when u watch thai tv programme muay thai or football its used to describe the goal is swee or the fighter is them good Negative remark eg. i chatting with my friend have a common friend who everybody know is si peh stingy or si peh hao lian can also use ''soot yord'' to descibe his behavior Its something like ''够力'' in hokkien Just my personal understanding of this thai word:)

I think the word is "Soot Yord" which means fantastic or "at-the-top" for thai folks.

If you want to use the word "Soot Yord" to the hilt where it's the ultimate, then say "Soot Yord Cheep Hai"

nothing beats the "Cheep Hai" *laughing* normally it means "emptying until it is no longer empty"

Like the word "Baa" which means crazy. "Baa Cheep Hai" means bonkers-bar-none.

Thai folks laugh if u use the word "Cheep Hai". be careful though, it also shows that u have been around to know certain words and the thai folks will make it harder for you to get what you want at your fair price.

Here's another word which the Thai folks use on sammyboy visitors to their country and getting conned....."Bread".....It means "idiot" and it is a stronger than "ngou" which means stupid. I have seen Thai individuals take greater offense at being labelled "Bread" than "ngou" or "ngou cheep hai".

Have good fun...."sanuk dee"

"dao" in hokkien is "yingg" in Thai. If you want to say "mai haolian" to a girl in thai, then say "mai or lor". "Or Lor" is can be described as "showing off" but it is usually used in accordance to men-women kind of actions or displays which concerns mating competition.
